Wordless Wednesday

WW is a simple blog post featuring a photo which conveys a message that speaks for itself without using words.

For all the rule breakers, of which I am one, please feel free to add all the words you want.

Spring

Spring and “springtime” refer to the season, and also to ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth. Subtropical and tropical areas have climates better described in terms of other seasons, e.g. dry or wet, monsoonal or cyclonic. Cultures may have local names for seasons which have little equivalence to the terms originating in Europe.

In the United States and United Kingdom, spring months are March, April, and May.

In Ireland, following the Irish calendar, spring is often defined as February, March, and April.

In Sweden, meteorologists define the beginning of spring as the first occasion on which the average 24 hours temperature exceeds zero degrees Celsius for seven consecutive days, thus the date varies with latitude and elevation (but no earlier than 15 February, and no later than 31 July).

In Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Brazil the spring months are September, October, and November. Source: Wikipedia

What a lovely spring image! We’re not there yet and it’s very dreary around here, so thanks! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Interesting that Ireland and Sweden define spring differently.

Thanks for hosting the Wordless Wednesday link party, Sandee! ๐Ÿ’–

    • Sandee says:

I didn’t know that either. I’m more of a fair weather kind of gal. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week, Debbie. Love and hugs. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Suzana says:

I did not know about this idea. May I say that Spring is all the time, somewhere in the world.
    Lovely thought!
Thank you, dear Sandee! Happy WW with love and hugs!โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜˜

  3. Memories of Eric and Flynn says:

That is a lovely wildflower meadow. Spring has arrived at last, sunny days up to Sunday and no sign of rain. Temperature is even set to reach 62 today!

  4. onespoiledcat says:

How beautiful! We haven’t seen a lot of signs of Spring but the forsythia is blooming and there are buds on the trees…..we’re taking “baby steps” to get to Spring here.

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy

I was shocked when I first started blogging and became friends with Diane in Austrailia, and Sonja in Pourtugal, because I had no idea the Christmas in Austrailia is in summertime, and all the things you put here were news to me back then, my view of our planet has changed drastically since the internet

    • Sandee says:

I love doing these little tidbits of information. I’m glad you enjoy them too. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to handsome Beau. ๐Ÿ™‚

Spring doesn’t obey the calendar here, either. Guess we need our own interpretation. It’s about 15F here right now and I wish spring would hurry up. It won’t. Alana ramblinwitham

  7. 15andmeowing says:

Very interesting. I did not know some areas thought of February as spring. Thanks for hosting. Have a great day. XO

    • Sandee says:

We do here. We see the signs of spring in the first part of February. Happy day and rest of the week, Ellen. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to the kitties. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. DrillerAA says:

Beautiful blooms. Just when spring showed up in NW Arkansas and all the trees and flowers bloomed, winter returned for a couple of days with temps in the twenties and windchill in single digits. So much for spring. On to summer.

    • Sandee says:

Winter and spring fight with each other. Pretty soon spring will win. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week, my friend. Scritches to Miss Lucy. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Peabea says:

Beautiful Spring photo. I’m so ready for Spring to come and stay. Interesting to read about the different times of year for the Spring season in other areas/countries. Have a happy week ahead.

  10. CatSynth says:

Excited for the arrival of spring, and I’m even enjoying our “hot” weather this week (not as hot where I am compared to where you are).

  11. Suzette Benjamin says:

I love Spring. It’s like a reward for making it through Winter. I grew up with only two seasons dry and wet until I immigrated. I love the change in seasons (four).

Thank you for the great information, Sandee. Always a pleasure to learn new things.

Happy Wordless Wednesday too. Much love and hugs to you, dear friend.

    • Sandee says:

You’re most welcome for the hosting. We need more rain here in Central California. We’re hoping April showers will happen. Yesterday it was 90 degrees here. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Cecilia Upchurch says:

I have a friend in Dubbo, Australia…I believe March is when their fall starts.. It still blows my feeble mind that Christmas downunder is hot as blue blazes and July is very chilly
    Hugs cecilia

    • Sandee says:

I hear you and feel the same. Seems weird to have Christmas in the summertime. I’m sure if we lived down under we would find it normal. Love and hugs to you and Kit and scritches to the kitties. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. geminipvb says:

Happy Wednesday!I live at high altitude in the Colorado foothills, and spring usually arrives in late May. March is usually our snowiest month. This year the weather has been unusual however–very warm and dry.

    • Sandee says:

It’s fun to see what weather others have this time of year. Spring has come and gone here. We’re in a heatwave already. Thanks for joining in. ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. messymimi's meanderings says:

Spring is a delight, isn’t it. We have blooms everywhere (and allergy season, but that’s not the fault of the blooms).

Thanks for taking out my accidental second link. I’m so busy these last few days I don’t know if I’m coming or going.

You and Mr. Zane have a blessed rest of your week, and scritches to Lil’ Bit and Squeaker from me, okay?

    • Sandee says:

Spring is a delight and it’s my favorite of the seasons. You’re welcome on the removal of the second link. I monitor the links to make sure there aren’t any duplicates and that the hop post is there, not just the IRL of the site.

You and Mr. Sweetie have a blessed rest of the week, too. I’ll give the kitties your scritches. Love and hugs. ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. kittiesblue says:

That was fun. Mom learned something about spring in other countries. She would not like to wait until July 31 for it to arrive. We are going to have another of those 30 degree daily difference from tomorrow to Saturday. The is a gorgeous photo. Thanks so much for linking us up. • Sandee says:

I did too. I hadn’t thought of other places and I wouldn’t want to wait until July for spring. We’re in a heat wave right now. This is the third day with 90 degree weather. Way to early. Love and hugs. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Sandee says:

We’ve been in a heatwave that will end today. I’m happy about that. The temps in the 90s this early isn’t fun at all. Scritches to Rosie. ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Caz / InvisiblyMe says:

So pretty! Seeing a little more colour outside, especially some daffodils, always makes me feel like spring is starting and things just feel that bit better, don’t they?
I’m late with this so Happy Thursday! I hope the week is treating you kindly ๐ŸŒป
    Caz xx

  17. Natasha says:

Such a gorgeous image and super interesting information on Spring. Thanks my dearest, Sandee. ๐Ÿ™‚

In parts of India, and where I live- North India; we have Spring from February to March. This year was weird. By second week of March it was super hot, we had to switch on Air conditioning. And then boom, this entire week, it’s been rainy, windy and cold. We had packed off all our winter wear and brought out our summer wear, but it’s time to reverse back, LOL; though we know this will last for some days only.

Not complaining at all as it’s cooler and before the weather gets sweltering hot, we can enjoy a bit more of the so called “spring with rains”!

You are a doll, and thank you for always rooting for me. Love you loads and loads.
    Big kisses.
Happy weekend and Spring Equinox, which is today. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Sandee says:

We’ve had our air conditioner on the last three days. I hate it when it’s 90 degrees so early. I love the 80s and would be happy with that year around.

You’re a wonderful blogging buddy, Sweet Natasha. Love and hugs my precious friend. โ™ฅ
