I went fishing this morning but after a short time I ran out of worms. Then I saw a cottonmouth with a frog in his mouth. Frogs are good bass bait.
Knowing the snake couldn’t bite me with the frog in his mouth, I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait bucket.
Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit. So, I grabbed my bottle of whiskey and poured a little whiskey in its mouth. His eyes rolled back, he went limp. I released him into the lake without incident and carried on fishing using the frog.
A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot. There was that same snake with two more frogs in his mouth.
Life is good.

Oh my COD, that was funny. I needed that laugh this morning. Smart snake. Sandee you and Zane and Little Bit have a great day.
I thought this was cute too Marg. š
Hahaha. I love starting the day with a smile, even if my day is starting waaay too early! š
I got up too early this morning too. š
I need another cup of coffee! All I could think about is the poor frogs' fate.
Nature is cruel. It's the cycle of life. š
lol, silly snake. š
Smart snake. He's likes his booze. š
My question is, did he catch any fish? Ha,ha,ha.
Have a brilliant Thursday Sandee and stay away from cottonmouths, they may take all of your booze. See ya.
Cruisin Paul
Yes, I'll avoid them for sure Paul. š
LOL – I guess he likes the booze.
Way too much. š
hehehe
I thought so too Caren. š
First time I know of snakes taking whiskey and getting drunk..lol!
Yep, and now the word will spread throughout the snake community. š
LOL that sssssnake liked a tipple
Have a hisstastic day Sandee :-h
Yep, he sure did Steve. š
Good one! Did not see that coming.
I didn't either. š
oh hahah this was a good one! Have a wonderful day with your honey and that sweet LB!
Will do sweetie. We're off to the boat shortly for the weekend. š
Didn't see that one coming. Lol!
I love it when I don't see them coming. š
Just don't give it too much whiskey the second time-he'll be too snocked to be your bait provider.
Probably true, but he won't care. š
Haha! That is definitely one way to take care of a snake! I prefer a gun or a blowtorch, but…..
Yep, I'd be scared to pieces to be near a snake. š
WHo says you can't teach an old Snake new tricks?
This is one smart snake indeed. š
That seems like a fair trade! Hahaha. Did not see that one coming.
Have another fab weekend. Big hugs, honey…
Yep, I think it's a great trade. š
Whatever you do, do NOT give the snake a joint…you'll have drum circles around your place…
Bwahahahaha. You crack me up Mike. Hi to Seymour. š
That's a nice one!…an addicted snake!
Only took one taste too. š
Lol. Given my science background, this is my kind of a nature walk.
Mine too. š
Heeheehee! The snake knows what's good!
He sure does and doesn't mind working for it too. š
LOL!!!! š
Hubby laughed out loud when he read this. š
This old redneck southerner knows all about cottonmouths and frogs! They are without a doubt the meanest of God's creatures and as for the fricking frog he is the dumbest. But good blended whiskey will make everything right especially on frog gigging nite. Seriously I've been witness to many snakes with frogs in their mouths while gigging in north Louisiana with my father!
Yep, I knew you'd have first hand knowledge about this. š
That snake learned fast.
Yes he did Binky. š
I hope that snake can hold his liquor š
He seems to be doing just fine. š
Life is good š
Apparently it is for the snake and the fisherman. š
