The largest building in the world is the Boeing building in Washington state. It is used to assemble planes, and is so large that Disneyland could fit inside.
Almost half the population of Hong Kong lives in an apartment that is on the 15th floor or higher.
The coldest inhabited place on earth is Oymyakon, Russia. Cars will not start once turned off and glasses will freeze to your face!
Contrary to what many people think, the earth is the closest to the sun in the middle of winter. It is not the distance, but the tilt of the earth that causes the temperature changes of the seasons. Credit: Impressive Facts

How many live above the 15th floor!?!?
Bet there’s a LONG queue at the lift!
Loves and licky kisses
Princess Leah xxx
A very long queue for the lift. It’s bad enough in a high rise hotel. I wouldn’t want to live there. Loves and licky kisses back. 🙂
Interesting facts that I do not know about. I wonder how many lives in the coldest place.
Oymyakon, located on the northeastern part of Siberia, is known as the coldest place in the world. Situated 750 meters above sea level, Oymyakon has a population of 500 people. The average temperature in the winter falls to approximately -58 degrees Celsius. I had to look. 🙂
Iteresting facts. I now know that I could never live in Oymyakon, Russia. I don’t think I would like Hong Kong either. I would be one of the ones who lived on the 15th floor or higher.
I don’t want to live in either place as well. I don’t care for high rises and both of us hate the cold. 🙂
The whole of Disneyland could fit inside the Boeing building? Wow..!!!
Happy Tuesday – I hope the week is a good one for you =]
xx
I thought that was rather fascinating too. I hope your week is good for you too, Cas. Hope you’re feeling better. 🙂
This is really interesting. I don’t think I’ll go to Oymyakon, Russia any time soon. I’m not too fond of cold.
I’m not going to visit there either. I wonder what the temperatures are in the summer.
I googled summer temps and this is what I found:
Although winters in Oymyakon are long and excessively cold, summers are mild to warm, sometimes hot. The warmest month on record is July 2010 with an average temperature of +14.7 °C (58.5 °F). In June, July and August temperatures over 30 °C (86 °F) are not rare during the day. 🙂
How weird that so many people live way up high in the buildings. We would not like that at all. We know a lot about cold as some days cars won’t start here from the cold and faces freeze in 5 – 10 minutes, BUT, that is only now and then.
Over populations and the big city where every square inch needs to be utilized. I don’t want to be anywhere my car might not start due to the cold. 🙂
My guess is that Antarctica doesn’t count as “inhabited” since it’s only a science station or two down there. And yes, it’s winter up here when earth is closest to the Sun, but summer Down Under, and they’ve had the heat wave this year to prove it.
Hope you and Mr. Zane have a wonderful Tuesday!
Yes, the heatwave was huge this year. I don’t want that here this coming summer. Not fun at all. You and Mr. Sweetie have a wonderful Tuesday too. 🙂
Now that’s one big place to romp and roll!
Yes it is. Happy Tuesday. 🙂
I sure don’t want to live in Oymyakon. I don’t like it below 70 degrees. Sandee, you and Zane have a really nice day.
I would settle for 70s degrees. I’m tired of being all bundled up. You have a nice day too, Marg. Scritches to all your kitties and Smoke and Joe. 🙂
Very interesting facts, indeed! 🧐
I like weird and interesting facts. There are many strange things in this world. 🙂
Happy Tuesday.
Happy Tuesday to you too, Pam. Scritches to all your babes. 🙂
Those are interesting facts. I wouldn’t want to live in Hong Kong or Russia. Thanks for hosting. Have a great day! XO
I want to live here in the US. You have a great day too, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. 🙂
Not many live on the 13th floor.
I’m guessing there isn’t a 13th floor there either. 🙂
Yikes on the cold factor in Oymyakon, Russia. I would mind if my glasses didn’t slip and slide on my nose but I don’t want them permanently frozen there.
Hugs Cecilia
I don’t have any clothes that would be warm enough to be there. Nothing. Hugs back, Cecilia. 🙂
Sandee,
Thanks for sharing that Oymyakon, Russia is the coldest place on earth. I’ll be sure to stay far, far away from there. 🙂
Have a laughtastic day!
You and me both. You have a laughtastic day too, my friend. 🙂
I’m about ready for the earth to tilt a bit toward spring.
I’m more than ready too. It’s been a cold and wet winter. 🙂
Wowsa! Some interesting facts and thanks for sharing. Happy Tuesday!
You’re most welcome, Eugenia. Happy Tuesday to you too. 🙂
Good stuff to know.
I love the odd things as you like the stupid headlines. It’s all good. 🙂
Cool facts! I hope you are well, my dear.
They are indeed, Darla. I hope you are well too, my friend. 🙂
I watched a documentary about homes and living in Hong Kong last week, and it was fascinating how people live. And also, I will never live in that part of Russia!
I want to see that documentary. I would enjoy it. I don’t want to live in Russia at all and definitely not here. 🙂
Cool. I like fun facts.
Here’s one for you:
111,111,111 X 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321
Now this is most clever. Love it. 🙂
Great facts. Thanks for sharing them. I might steal them. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful Tuesday.
Help yourself, Patrick. Nothing is scared here and everyone has permission to repost anything they want. 🙂
It’s nice to hear there’s someplace that much colder than it has been here lately. I’ll have to remember that next time I’m whining about the cold (but I still can’t wait for spring to get here). 🙂
I’m so ready for spring too, but only the fruit and nut trees look like spring. It’s cold and it’s wet. 🙂
Happy Tuesday everyone. We just loved the interesting facts you shared. We are amazed by the half the population of Hong Kong lives in an apartment that is on the 15th floor or higher. Thanks for the share. Have a wonderful rest of your day.
A city of skyscrapers. Need that to hold that huge population. 🙂
Those were some very interesting facts. We are glad we don’t live in Hong Kong:)
Woos _- Lightning, Misty, and Timber
That makes two of us. Scritches to the pups. 🙂
Interesting facts! Not sure I would want to live higher than the 15th floor!
There are that many people in China. frightening. 🙂
Are you sure that Metro Detroit, Michigan, isn’t the coldest place on earth? Surely seems like it!
I’m pretty sure it’s colder there than in Metro Detroit. Pretty sure. 🙂
Neat post ~ it is a ‘Mad, mad world’ sometimes ~ Xox from Ms. Z and me ~ ^_^
Happy Day to you,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
Yes it is, Carol. Happy day to you and Ms. Zoe. 🙂
hey Sandee!!! P.S. I’m back! hugggzzz!:) how are you sweet friend?!!!! xoxoxox
Oh I’m so happy you’re back. I’ve missed you my friend. Love you bunches, Angel. 🙂
It has been so rainy I have forgotten what the sun even looks like. The drought is definitely over.
It’s raining here this morning and will rain through Thursday. Sigh. 🙂
Happy Tuesday Sandee
I had no idea Boeing building is the largest building in the world. OMG in Oymyakon, Russia glasses will freeze on your face! Wow
Have a great week Sandee
XOXO
Mar
Siberia is a cold place, but it’s get pretty warm in the summer. Really big weather swings. Have a great week too, Mary. 🙂
Sandee, a northern friend of mine told me when it gets 20 below 0 they actually have to cover their car motor with a blanket. Cheers 🙂 ((Hugs))
I would guess it would be very difficult to keep things working in very cold places. I’ll pass. Happy day and a hug back. 🙂
It’s hard to imagine a building that big, or a city that crowded. Think I’ll stay here in my little burg.
I’m with you on that one, Marti. Have a great day. 🙂
Those are very interesting factoids! Can you imagine how much gas those cars in Russia use if they can never be shut off? Not to mention all the exhaust fumes all. the. time?! Made they are electric?
I have no idea how they keep them from freezing up. Too cold for me. 🙂
My car can attest to what happens when you turn it off without a good battery and it’s -48˚.
Glasses are crazy in cold weather of any kind but I believe it about freezing to skin. I am always afraid to lick my teeth.
Wow, that’s mighty cold. I could be just fine with the temperature never getting below 70. I’m a fair weather kind of gal. 🙂
Thanks for the reminder to never move to Oymyakon!
