WW is a simple blog post featuring a photo which conveys a message that speaks for itself without using words.
For all the rule breakers, of which I am one, please feel free to add all the words you want.
Make sure you leave a link to your post and Iโll visit your Wordless Wednesday post.
January
January was named for the Roman god Janus, known as the protector of gates and doorways, which symbolize beginnings and endings. Janus is depicted with two faces, one looking into the past, the other with the ability to see into the future. What a fitting symbol for this first day of the year; this month is our door into the new year. Source: Almanac

What an interesting image. Again something new for me.
Ability to see into the future? So complicated. But how to learn to understand the present?
Happy WW, dear Sandee! Hugs and love. And good things after that door!โค๏ธ๐
I had no idea about this, Suzana. Happy WW and rest of the week, my friend. Love and hugs. ๐

I thought it was very interesting. Happy day and rest of the week, my friend. ๐
Great information and a perfect choice for today, Sandee. I knew a bit about Janus before, but I did not know that he had been depicted with two faces; one looking forward and on backward. That makes perfect and total sense and is very poetic too, now that I think about it! Thank you as always, dear friend, for the great information. I love to learn these things. Much love and hugs to you this Wordless Wednesday.
I thought it make perfect sense too. I love this tidbit of information. Love and hugs, my friend. ๐
Thank you dear friend. Blessings to you.
That was intetesting, thanks!
I thought it was too. Scritches to all the kitties and my very best to their wonderful peeps. ๐

Love and hugs, my friend. โฅ
You find such interesting facts to share!
I try to do something that we can all learn from. Happy WW and rest of the week. Healing hugs to Noelle. ๐
Those Romans thought of everything!
They sure did. Very smart folks. ๐
I love that photo, and I wonder why more buildings don’t have Janus’ face carved into them. Or on those ornate gates of the wealthy. That would be cool and more interesting than the lions. Another great WW. Happy Wednesday, Sandee. Love you bunches!
I love this too. A great idea. Happy WW and rest of the week, Karen. Love you bunches. ๐
Very interesting. Thanks for hosting. Have a nice day. XO
I thought it was very interesting too. Happy WW and rest of the week, Ellen. ๐
I never knew that. Very interesting. ๐คฃ๐๐
I didn’t know this either. We can learn something new each day. ๐
I learned something new today!
I’m happy about that. I didn’t know this either. Makes sense. ๐
Maybe Janus could tell us what he sees for the future.
I don’t think he’ll tell us. Happy day and rest of the week. ๐
Another new fact learned today!! We so enjoy your WWs!!
I didn’t know any of this. Very interesting. Happy WW and rest of the week. ๐
I got here eventually! Blogger was not cooperating last night and I wanted to post as I missed last week. There is a brief update on my cat blog why I missed posting.
I remember learning about Janus in my school days.
I didn’t know this tidbit. Sorry you’re having issues with blogger. It’s tough at times. Happy rest of the week, Jackie. ๐
Beautiful image of Janus! I’m familiar with the history as this is my birthday month. ๐ Happy Wednesday, Sandee! Thanks for hosting Wordless Wednesday. ๐น
Yes it’s your birthday month. I just came from your year in review. Happy WW and rest of the week, Debbie. ๐
Beautiful beginning of the New Year, Sandee. The two faces mean that you bring your lessons, that you’ve learnt from the past into the furture, for furresh new beginnings. What better way to start a new year๐ธDouble Pawkisses for a Happy Day and week ahead to you, Zane and the kitties too๐พ๐ฝ๐
You’re right about that. If we forget our past we will repeat the mistakes. Double Pawkisses to you both and a big hug to Granny. ๐
Very interesting stuff. I didn’t know this. Have a great Wednesday and rest of the week!
I didn’t know this either. Happy WW and rest of the week, Yvonne. ๐
Janus, the two-faced god ๐บ
He is interesting in that he was one of the Roman gods that didn’t have a Greek equivalent.
I agree with you. I didn’t know about this. Happy WW and rest of the week. ๐
Interesting factoids. I’ve seen this image before but knew nothing of it like most mythology. Thanks for hosting the mid-week fun. Hopefully, I’ll be back in full force as soon as I get some of my blog woes out of the way. ๐
Do what you need to do. Having issues with your blog is very frustrating. Love and hugs. ๐
Thanks for understanding, my friend. You rock! xo

I had no idea.I wonder if there’s a character that looks both up and down!
I didn’t know this either. There are so many interesting things to learn. ๐
Interesting how months are named from such a long ago time. Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday! <3
I agree with you. You have a wonderful Wednesday and rest of the week, Barbara. ๐
Julius Caesar chose the name, before his calendar reform, the winter months had no names as the ancient Romans hated winter. Smart people!
I pray you and Mr. Zane have a blessed week. Give those two bosses of yours some scritches from me.
Very smart people. Happy WW and rest of the week. Love and hugs. ๐
Here’s hoping the door is open to new and exciting possibilities for the entire year, dear Sandee. Happy mid-week.
It’s my wish, too. Love and hugs to you and scritches to handsome Wilson. ๐
So interesting to learn about Janus and new beginnings.
Happy Thursday, Sandee!
I thought so too. Happy day and rest of the week, Veronica. ๐
That would be nice to have two faces ! I could look on both sides without turning my head !
I love your point of view. Scritches to Rosie. ๐
Have you ever seen a Janus cat? Their abnormality can be quite livable depending upon factors outside their conjoined faces, of course. Nobody is breeding for that trait. If they do, I will hunt them down. lol Hugs, my dear.
I’ve not seen one. Way cool. Hugs back. ๐
I didn’t even bother thinking about where January came from. Awesome!
I hadn’t either and now we both know. Happy weekend. ๐
