Wordless Wednesday

WW is a simple blog post featuring a photo which conveys a message that speaks for itself without using words.

For all the rule breakers, of which I am one, please feel free to add all the words you want.

Make sure you leave a link to your post and Iโ€™ll visit your Wordless Wednesday post.

I literally never thought about Barbie being called anything other than Barbie, but her full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts. Source: The Facts Site

Obvious I did not know about her real name. I feel something strange about this toy, about the
face, especially. I did not bought any, not even for our granddaughter. It’s difficult to explain, but it”s something false in it, of course from my perspective so I avoid it… ๐Ÿ˜Š
Happy WW again, dear Sandee! Thank you so much for your Blog Hop. Hugs and joy! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜˜

Wow, that sometimes bright bimbo really had a name? Your blog is always SOOOOOO interesting and fun. MERCI, Sandee. And we LOVE it that all our info is already filled in. So helpful in commenting.

I did NOT know her full name but I did have a Barbie doll all those years ago and loved getting new outfits for her……I have often wondered how many of us young girls thought Barbie was the way we would look when we grew up???? LOL

    Hugs, Pam

  4. 15andmeowing says:

I did not know that either. I never played with Barbies as a child, but I am making up for it now with my great-nieces. Thanks for hosting. Have a nice day. XO

  5. Suzette Benjamin says:

I did not know that. A very fancy name indeed. Seems to make sense since the doll is so iconic of children’s playtoys. As always your provide wonderful details I love to file away, Sandee. Happy Wordless Wednesday, dear friend. Peace and hugs to you.

  6. Cecilia Upchurch says:

My daughter was a HUGE Barbie lover. However I don’t think we ever knew Barbie’s full name.
Too funny though there was a family friend years ago whose name was Milton. My daughter always called him Millicient…no clue why..
Hugs to you all and Happy remainder of your week.

I found this tidbit very interesting. I never even wondered if she had a name other than Barbie. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to handsome Wilson. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Sandee says:

Yes learning something new is a good thing. I wasn’t a big fan either, but my granddaughter was. Happy Wordless Wednesday. Scritches to the pups. ๐Ÿ™‚

While many little girls loved Barbie and her various “careers,” the movie put her in a new light for me! I watched the first 45 minutes, but had to zone out of what just felt creepy.
The comparison of what happens to the baby-dolls and the little girls at the beginning of the movie reveal that she was a prostitute.
Looking up information on the movie, I came across Jonathan Cahn’s explanation and have to say, his view made sense to me.
See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKp-A6BBg-E for how she is connected to the Mesopotamian goddess, Ishtar. Interesting perspective.

I had no idea Barbie had a full name:). I had one single Barbie when I was a kid, I don’t think my daughter ever had one, but my granddaughter has lots of them! Have a great week Sandee.

    • Sandee says:

I didn’t either. I had a Barbie when they first came out. My granddaughter had many Barbies and all her accessories. Happy Wednesday and rest of the week. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. CatSynth says:

That’s a particularly glamorous Barbie there!
Back in the early 2010s (yikes such a long time ago now!) I did a series for WW featuring a doll in close-ups of the urban landscapes that I usually feature.

  10. messymimi's meanderings says:

I’ll bet Ken has a name, too. Especially since the movie came out, some people think about these dolls differently now.

I pray you and Mr. Zane have a blessed week and please give some scritches to Lil’ Bit and Squeaker from me.

  11. Mr. Ohh's Sideways View says:

I’ve know the name for a while. But the real myustery of Barbie is that she was developed to empower girls to be anything they wanted to be, but has become a hated symbol of unachievable perfection. I’m not a woman. That being said, why must we always strip away the positive from everything and find something to complain about?? ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ™ƒ

I wish I had my childhood Barbie (1960-ish?) last I saw it, it was dressed in a wedding gown outfit. My girlfriend had a Ken and of course we played Barbie and Ken (all very innocent). I didn’t know until a year or two ago that Barbie had a middle and last name. Memories! Alana ramblinwitham

  13. angelswhisper2011 says:

Granny had a lot of Barbies, and she got Ken too, she played with them until she was a teen. When she got a new Barbie, who could move her knees, she broke her leg accidentally…of Barbie of course…MOL๐Ÿ˜นWe didn’t know that she had three names, we will always remember her as Barbie๐Ÿ˜ปDouble Pawkisses for a happy day and wonderful week ahead to you, dear Sandee, Zane and the kitties too๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜ฝ๐Ÿ’ž

    • Sandee says:

I had one, but I’m older than you. I didn’t know this either. She and Ken both have three names. Double Pawkisses to the kitties and a hug to Granny. ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Daniela @ ~ My little old world ~ says:

When I was a little girl Barbie had just arrived in the Italian shops and Honestly I cannot tell you how much I played with her and all her family, I had also the camper they used for their holydays :)!
    But I didn’t know her full name…
What sweet memories you’ve recalled to my mind with this shot of yours, dear Sandee, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Hope you’re enjoying a happy Halloween night
    XO Daniela
