Barbie
I literally never thought about Barbie being called anything other than Barbie, but her full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts. Source: The Facts Site

Obvious I did not know about her real name. I feel something strange about this toy, about the
face, especially. I did not bought any, not even for our granddaughter. It’s difficult to explain, but it”s something false in it, of course from my perspective so I avoid it… ๐
Happy WW again, dear Sandee! Thank you so much for your Blog Hop. Hugs and joy! โค๏ธ๐
My granddaughter was a huge Barbie fan. She had tons of Barbies. I didn’t know her name though. Happy rest of the week, my friend. ๐
I knew she was named after the daughter of the inventor, but that was only the first name. Didn’t know she also had a middle and last name! ๐
I thought this was a nice tidbit. Happy Wordless Wednesday, Debbie. ๐
Wow, that sometimes bright bimbo really had a name? Your blog is always SOOOOOO interesting and fun. MERCI, Sandee. And we LOVE it that all our info is already filled in. So helpful in commenting.
Thanks for playing along. Happy Wordless Wednesday. ๐
I did NOT know her full name but I did have a Barbie doll all those years ago and loved getting new outfits for her……I have often wondered how many of us young girls thought Barbie was the way we would look when we grew up???? LOL
Hugs, Pam
I had one of the original Barbie’s. They were much larger than the ones now. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to handsome Teddy. ๐
Mom was super into Barbie dolls as a kid but she has never heard the full name before. Now we wonder, does Ken have a fancy long name too?
I don’t know about Ken. I’ll have to check that out. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week. ๐
I never knew that but I did love my Barbie dolls.
I only had one Barbie. I wish I still had it. Happy rest of the week, Duke. ๐
All those years of playing with mine I never knew her as anything other than Barbie.
That makes two of us, Ann. Happy Wednesday my friend. ๐
What an interesting fact, Sandee. I learn something new every day. Wednesday Hugs!
That makes two of us, Eugenia. Happy Wordless Wednesday. Hugs. ๐
๐ซ
Barbie came along after my childhood and I had only 2 sons. I never knew she had a name
My granddaughter was a huge Barbie fan. I’ve spent a fortune on Barbie dolls and other Barbie things. I loved it. ๐
Well, it never dawned on me that Barbie might something in common in our family tree.
We learn something new every day. Happy Wordless Wednesday, my friend. ๐
Thatโs a really cool fact! I, too, never thought about her having a full name. Happy Wednesday, Sandee!
I never knew about this either. Happy Wednesday, my friend. ๐
I did not know that either. I never played with Barbies as a child, but I am making up for it now with my great-nieces. Thanks for hosting. Have a nice day. XO
I had a Barbie when they first came out in 1959. I loved that doll. Happy Wednesday, Ellen. Scritches to the kitties. ๐
I never knew that either. My Mom wouldn’t let me have a Barbie doll.
I only had one, but my granddaughter had tons of them. I made sure of that. ๐
I did not know that. A very fancy name indeed. Seems to make sense since the doll is so iconic of children’s playtoys. As always your provide wonderful details I love to file away, Sandee. Happy Wordless Wednesday, dear friend. Peace and hugs to you.
I love doing these little tidbits of information each Wednesday. Such fun. Love and hugs, my friend. ๐
Thanks again Sandee. I enjoy trivia and history and such information.. It is quite fun. Blessings to you.
Well I learned something new today! Thanks!
You’re welcome. I had no idea either. Happy Wednesday. ๐
My daughter was a HUGE Barbie lover. However I don’t think we ever knew Barbie’s full name.
Too funny though there was a family friend years ago whose name was Milton. My daughter always called him Millicient…no clue why..
Hugs to you all and Happy remainder of your week.
Cecilia
My granddaughter was a huge fan too. I made sure she had whatever Barbie doll and accessories she wanted. Hugs to you my friend. ๐
Well isn’t that an interesting fact? I thought Barbie was named after the creator’s daughter. Happy mid-week, dear Sandee.
I found this tidbit very interesting. I never even wondered if she had a name other than Barbie. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to handsome Wilson. ๐
You learn something new everyday! I wasn’t a big Barbie girl, and had no idea about her full name either.
Yes learning something new is a good thing. I wasn’t a big fan either, but my granddaughter was. Happy Wordless Wednesday. Scritches to the pups. ๐
While many little girls loved Barbie and her various “careers,” the movie put her in a new light for me! I watched the first 45 minutes, but had to zone out of what just felt creepy.
The comparison of what happens to the baby-dolls and the little girls at the beginning of the movie reveal that she was a prostitute.
Looking up information on the movie, I came across Jonathan Cahn’s explanation and have to say, his view made sense to me.
See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKp-A6BBg-E for how she is connected to the Mesopotamian goddess, Ishtar. Interesting perspective.
I didn’t see the movie. We don’t go to movies anymore. I didn’t know this. ๐
I remember having Barbie pajamas as a kid, but didn’t know her full name until now.
I didn’t know her name either. Scritches to the kitties. ๐
I didn’t know she had a full name.
I didn’t know this either. Happy rest of the week, my friend. ๐
Beautiful photo of Barbie and great info about her full name ~ thanks, fun ~ ^_^
Hugs and love to you from me and Ziggy ~ xo
I love this shot of Barbie. Dolls are so important to many little ones. ๐
I had no idea Barbie had a full name:). I had one single Barbie when I was a kid, I don’t think my daughter ever had one, but my granddaughter has lots of them! Have a great week Sandee.
I didn’t either. I had a Barbie when they first came out. My granddaughter had many Barbies and all her accessories. Happy Wednesday and rest of the week. ๐
That’s a particularly glamorous Barbie there!
Back in the early 2010s (yikes such a long time ago now!) I did a series for WW featuring a doll in close-ups of the urban landscapes that I usually feature.
How cool. Is it still on your blog? I’ll go see your post for 2010. Happy WW and rest of the week. ๐
Beautiful picture, but how weird a toy has a full name, LOL.
I had no idea. I love these little pieces of history. Happy day and rest of the week. Scritches to the pups. ๐
Never too old to learn new stuff. Love the info you put out.
Thank you, Sandee, for the weekly linkup party. Happy #WW.

Hope you will join ES #WW https://esmesalon.com/tag/wordlesswednesday/ NOW OPEN
I love these little tidbits of information. Happy WW and rest of the week, my friend. ๐
I’ll bet Ken has a name, too. Especially since the movie came out, some people think about these dolls differently now.
I pray you and Mr. Zane have a blessed week and please give some scritches to Lil’ Bit and Squeaker from me.
You’re right he has a name too. It’s Kenneth Sean Carson. Way cool. Have a fabulous WW and rest of the week. Love and hugs, my friend. ๐
My grandson calls his sister’s one Boobie!
Bwahahahahahaha. Love it. ๐
I have collectible Barbies. I love them. They’ve come a long way since I was a child. Interesting info about her name.
I only had one, but I loved that Barbie. Happy WW, Yvonne. ๐
I’ve know the name for a while. But the real myustery of Barbie is that she was developed to empower girls to be anything they wanted to be, but has become a hated symbol of unachievable perfection. I’m not a woman. That being said, why must we always strip away the positive from everything and find something to complain about?? ๐คฃ๐๐
ps I wrote a Barbie related post a while back. With you permission here’s the link https://mysidewaysview.com/2022/04/09/new-these-toys-are-not-recommended-for-children-over-thirty/
If you don’t want this. feel free to delete the coment ๐คฃ๐๐
I love that post. I’ll leave this comment right where it is. I laughed out loud. ๐
Thanks
I don’t know why, but it’s a shame to strip the positive away. Happy Wednesday and rest of the week. ๐
I wish I had my childhood Barbie (1960-ish?) last I saw it, it was dressed in a wedding gown outfit. My girlfriend had a Ken and of course we played Barbie and Ken (all very innocent). I didn’t know until a year or two ago that Barbie had a middle and last name. Memories! Alana ramblinwitham
I only had one Barbie, but my granddaughter got as many as she wanted. I made sure of that. What fond memories you have. Excellent. ๐
Granny had a lot of Barbies, and she got Ken too, she played with them until she was a teen. When she got a new Barbie, who could move her knees, she broke her leg accidentally…of Barbie of course…MOL๐นWe didn’t know that she had three names, we will always remember her as Barbie๐ปDouble Pawkisses for a happy day and wonderful week ahead to you, dear Sandee, Zane and the kitties too๐พ๐ฝ๐
I had one, but I’m older than you. I didn’t know this either. She and Ken both have three names. Double Pawkisses to the kitties and a hug to Granny. ๐
I always thought she was one of the One Name Wonders!
I did too. Happy WW and rest of the week. ๐
Glad to know Barbie’s full name. Thanks for sharing ๐
You’re most welcome. Happy day and rest of the week. ๐
I love that Barbie. How gorgeous. I knew that but only recently – pre Movie. I just remember thinking “Millicent? really?’ Ha!
When I was a little girl Barbie had just arrived in the Italian shops and Honestly I cannot tell you how much I played with her and all her family, I had also the camper they used for their holydays :)!
But I didn’t know her full name…
What sweet memories you’ve recalled to my mind with this shot of yours, dear Sandee, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Hope you’re enjoying a happy Halloween night
XO Daniela
Same here. I hadn’t thought about Barbie’s for years. A fond memory. Love and hugs sweet Dany. ๐
Barbie doesn’t need any more words
She’s not as popular as she once was. ๐
