Most of Titanic was shot in Baja California, Mexico, on a massive series of sound stages built for the movie. The complex known as Baja Studios and its massive water tank have since been used in filming oceanic adventures like โ€‹โ€‹Deep Blue Sea (1999), Pearl Harbor (2001), and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003). Titanic is a 1997 American epic romantic disaster film directed, written, produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. Incorporating both historical and fictionalized aspects, it is based on accounts of the sinking of RMSย Titanic in 1912. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet star as members of different social classes who fall in love during the ship’s maiden voyage. Source: Wikipedia

I loved that movie. Nice to know that the water tanks have been used for other movies and not just abandoned or tore down.

That is very interesting. I am glad we started cruising (1996) before seeing that film. Sorry no WW this week, yesterday was very hectic. Chemo starts tomorrow.

    • Sandee says:

I’ve cruised on the big ships after that, too, but only in warm waters. You’re in my thoughts and prayers, Jackie. Love you. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Alana Mautone says:

I’ve never seen the movie but my son, when he was growing up, went through a “Titanic” phase, reading books on it, building a model of the ship, etc. and I love the song My Heart Will Go On! Alana ramblinwitham

    • Sandee says:

I went through that phase too. It’s a fascinating story. Sad, but many can’t get enough history on the folks that were on this ship, how it went down and those that survived and those that didn’t. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Cecilia Upchurch says:

One of the classics of our time….loved that scene.
I also really like Kate Winslett. I saw her in The Holiday (a romantic comedy) she was so funny. An entirely different side of her talents
    Hugs Cecilia

There has never been a movie that touched Granny’s heart so deeply as this one…and believe it or not, Sandee, she has seen it more than ten times after the first time and it always touches her Soul…and besides, she could be the Titanic herself now๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿ˜บDouble Pawkisses for a Happy Day and Week ahead for you, Zane and the kitties too๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜ฝ๐Ÿ’ž

    • Sandee says:

I loved this movie too. I cried more than once. It touched my soul as well. Double Pawkisses to the kitties and a big hug to Granny. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week. ๐Ÿ™‚

The movie came out the year my husband and I wed. ๐Ÿ˜€ Funny enough, there was a shop we entered during our honeymoon that had a shirt which read: “It sank. Get over it.” It’s funny the little things we remember. lol Best wishes and hugs, my dear.

  9. CAAC says:

Cool tidbits! There’s a Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge, the foothills to Smoky’s, and I’d love to visit. Maybe, DH and I can plan do that in the fall when things cool down and calm down a bit. ๐Ÿ™‚

Mom loved that movie. Very interesting to learn about how and where it was created

One of my all time favorite movies. Of course, I’m just a hopeless romantic at heart. – Tell no one.. – Lol. I really like just about everything Kate Winslet is in, Leonardo, not so much, especially with his dating rule of not dating anyone over 25. Now he’s starting to feel like the creepy uncle you only see once a year at Thanksgiving. Lol.. I’m such a judgmental bitch. Hahahaha.

  13. slugger708 says:

Laughing- That is priceless! I love how she walks away when she knows you’re watching her, cats have to keep their cards close to their chest. Them and their dignity, it’s hilarious. Sometimes it takes a baby to make some people play, who would also feel silly if they got caught. “Hugs and love”
