M*A*S*H (TV series)

As if you needed another excuse to visit the stunning hiking trails of Malibu, California. While trekking through the mountains with a picture-perfect ocean view, visitors should keep their eyes peeled for remnants of the long-running TV show MASH, which was shot here between 1972 and 1983. Pieces of signs and military vehicles were restored in 2007 and now remain on display in Malibu Creek State Park.ย  Source: Travel + Leisure

It’s been so long that I only vaguely remember watching MAS*H. I know my family watched it. I remember seeing the episode where one of the main characters was leaving to return home, but his plane or helicopter was shot down so he never made it. I also kind of remember seeing the finale.

    Anyway, happy WW!

  2. Memories of Eric and Flynn says:

I always used to watch MASH when it arrived in the UK. I didn’t know they had preserved signs and vehicles.
Thank you for removing my first link. I don’t know what happened with it going to an old post!

I do not know these series, but the image is so impressive.
And I’ll admire it on my computer.
Happy WW, dear Sandee. I want to tell you that I’ll skip the game for three weeks.
Take care and enjoy the start in Summer! Hugs!โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜˜

That’s cool! Get this, one of my bloggy friends portrayed an young injured soldier in the series. ๐Ÿ™‚ In western North Carolina production left props from “The Fugitive” train crash behind. I don’t recall how we found this out now but we’ve driven by and photographed it a few times over the years. Thanks for dropping and please don’t worry about being absent or being too busy to visit. We all have a life beyond cyberspace. I’m trying to use this summer as a time to do other things as much as I can away from the Internet, so I understand. Have a wonderful week, Sandee!

We’ve been so busy here. I’ve not been around as much either. Lots of changes here and it’s all good. I’ll post about it soon. How cool to find things left behind from a film. You enjoy your summer away from your computer. Love and hugs. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. My GBGV Life says:

Mom was not a Mash fan as she was too busy with junior and senior high but during that time you couldn’t help to watch it sometimes. How fun to be able to find pieces from the set out there.

  7. 15andmeowing says:

That is interesting. I never thought about where it was filmed. Thanks for hosting. Have a great day. XO

  8. Wendy says:

This is a very interesting, now historical, article. I wasn’t aware at all about the existence of the park and its association with MASH! Thanks for filling in those missing pieces.

  9. Cecilia Upchurch says:

Clapping wildly someone in this house is currently watching a M A S H rerun.
He will love this bit of M A S H trivia
    Hugs to you 4

I used to watch MASH while growing up. That is so very cool that the props and set are part of a park that people can visit. Very cool. I want to visit there. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

So cool! I remember as a young child watching MAS*H. I’ve been to where they filmed it a few times, but it was before 2007, so I did not get to see the military vehicles and signs.

  12. Veronica Lee says:

I had no idea MASH was filmed in California!
I always assumed it was shot on location in Korea or somewhere similar.
How fascinating to learn that the beautiful Malibu trails were the backdrop for such an iconic show!

    Hugs and blessings, Sandee!

  13. Gattina says:

I saw “left overs” from a famous film (I forgot the title) with Brad Pitt in the deep south of Morocco in a desert. Apparently B Pitt payed for the electricity in this region, people still lived without ! Years later when I returned, I saw the TV parabolic on some rocks, so now they had electricity.

  14. Smudge says:

My dad says he’s probably seen every single episode. He and mom even started binge watching it when they were in between Asheville and New Hope, but much like me with pretty much everything, they lost interest. Dad says they’re overdue for some real hiking, and those trails sound like they’re just the ticket. Thanks for the interesting tidbit!

Unique find of Mash setting for show ~ my son loved Mash ~ I was too busy with college at the time ~ thanks,

Hugs and love to you and family, Sandee ~

Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

MASH was filmed i Cali? As I think of it Korea was pretty cold in Winter and not sure I recall any snow scenes in MASH.
