M*A*S*H (TV series)
As if you needed another excuse to visit the stunning hiking trails of Malibu, California. While trekking through the mountains with a picture-perfect ocean view, visitors should keep their eyes peeled for remnants of the long-running TV show MASH, which was shot here between 1972 and 1983. Pieces of signs and military vehicles were restored in 2007 and now remain on display in Malibu Creek State Park.ย Source: Travel + Leisure
Linking up with a bunch of fantastic peeps from the blogosphere who host Wordless Wednesday โ Betty, Steve, image-in-ing, Keith, Cathy, Sara, Esme Salon, CatSynth, and Suzana.

It’s been so long that I only vaguely remember watching MAS*H. I know my family watched it. I remember seeing the episode where one of the main characters was leaving to return home, but his plane or helicopter was shot down so he never made it. I also kind of remember seeing the finale.
Anyway, happy WW!
I’ve watched ever episode and it’s probably time to watch it all over again. Happy WW. ๐
I always used to watch MASH when it arrived in the UK. I didn’t know they had preserved signs and vehicles.
Thank you for removing my first link. I don’t know what happened with it going to an old post!
I didn’t know where it was filmed or that they had preserved some of the things from the show. ๐
We haven’t seen MASH often, but it sure is an impurressive environment, Sandee๐ธ๐บDouble Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahead to you and Zane too๐พ๐ฝ๐
Oh, and the kitties of courseโฆhow could we forget your awwdorable kittiesโฆtime for a SMASH๐น๐พ๐ฝ๐
It was a great show. Funny in parts and sad in others. We love our kitties. ๐
Back in the day we never missed an episode of MASH. Then years later we watched all the reruns.
I loved this show. A fun sitcom to enjoy each week. ๐
I watched a lot of MASH and did not know where it was shot… I would be stopping to look around
I didn’t know either. I was surprised it was filmed here in California. ๐
Such a great show!
It sure was, Duke. My best to your mom. ๐
I do not know these series, but the image is so impressive.
And I’ll admire it on my computer.
Happy WW, dear Sandee. I want to tell you that I’ll skip the game for three weeks.
Take care and enjoy the start in Summer! Hugs!โค๏ธ๐
I hope you’re doing something fun for the next three weeks. You’ll be missed. ๐
That’s cool! Get this, one of my bloggy friends portrayed an young injured soldier in the series. ๐ In western North Carolina production left props from “The Fugitive” train crash behind. I don’t recall how we found this out now but we’ve driven by and photographed it a few times over the years. Thanks for dropping and please don’t worry about being absent or being too busy to visit. We all have a life beyond cyberspace. I’m trying to use this summer as a time to do other things as much as I can away from the Internet, so I understand. Have a wonderful week, Sandee!
We’ve been so busy here. I’ve not been around as much either. Lots of changes here and it’s all good. I’ll post about it soon. How cool to find things left behind from a film. You enjoy your summer away from your computer. Love and hugs. ๐
Interesting to know where it was filmed. We watched all the episodes, and before that the movie.
Happy Wednesday <3
It was such a great show. We enjoyed it. Happy Wednesday, Barbara. Hugs. ๐
Mom was not a Mash fan as she was too busy with junior and senior high but during that time you couldn’t help to watch it sometimes. How fun to be able to find pieces from the set out there.
It seems like it was not that long ago, but it was a very long time ago. I loved the show. ๐
That is interesting. I never thought about where it was filmed. Thanks for hosting. Have a great day. XO
I hadn’t either. Just a thought so I figured I find out where. Happy rest of the week, Ellen. Scritches to the kitties. ๐
I loved MAS*H. I even recognized the mountains in that photo. I had no idea! Road trip time? Alana ramblinwitham
I didn’t either and was very surprised. I loved that show. Happy Wordless Wednesday. ๐
I’ve only been to San Francisco in CA. Some day I hope to see more of the state. Thanks for sharing this!
San Francisco isn’t what it used to be. We don’t go anymore. So sad what’s happened to a once beautiful city. ๐
Oh, I didn’t know! I went back in the mid 90’s.
Mash was such a great show. It’s nice to know where it was filmed. Happy Wednesday! Hugs!
It was indeed and I was surprised it was filmed in California. Hugs, my friend. ๐
This is a very interesting, now historical, article. I wasn’t aware at all about the existence of the park and its association with MASH! Thanks for filling in those missing pieces.
I didn’t know either. So many wonderful memories of this fun show. ๐
That would be a fun place to visit with all those MAS*H memories!
It sure would. It would make a great weekend trip. ๐
That’s interesting that they have those props on display like that.
It is indeed. It’s a wonder they are still there. ๐
Clapping wildly someone in this house is currently watching a M A S H rerun.
He will love this bit of M A S H trivia
Hugs to you 4
Cecilia
How fun. I think we should watch this show all over again. Hugs to you and hubby. Thanks for the hugs for the four of us. ๐
I used to love watching that years ago it was popular here too that photo is a good memory
Have a MASHtastic week and thanks for linking up Sandee ๐
It was a fun sitcom. I’ve watched every single show. Happy Wordless Wednesday, my friend. ๐
I used to watch MASH while growing up. That is so very cool that the props and set are part of a park that people can visit. Very cool. I want to visit there. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
I was surprised there the show was filmed and didn’t know things were left behind. ๐
Mom remembers that series.
A fun show. Happy Wordless Wednesday. Scritches to the kitties. ๐
MASH was one of my favorite shows. I recognized that picture right away. I still catch reruns every once in a while. Happy Wednesday!
It was a favorite of mine, too. Happy Wednesday, Yvonne. ๐
So cool! I remember as a young child watching MAS*H. I’ve been to where they filmed it a few times, but it was before 2007, so I did not get to see the military vehicles and signs.
I had no idea where it was filmed and what was left behind. A fun show. ๐
Such an incredible and interesting history. Thank you for sharing!
I think so too. I had no idea where this was filmed. ๐
Great info, Sandee. I did not know that MASH was filmed in California, I thought it was some far off land…Awesome! I enjoyed that show…aha I am dating myself…lol!
Somehow you think it was filmed in Korea. That’s what I though. I’m 72, Suzette. I was grown when this show came on. ๐
Wow, now that’s ironic as I binge watched some old Mash episodes just last night! Had no idea it was shot near Malibu. Very cool. Happy mid-week.
I was surprised about that too. I’m going to re-watch this great show again. ๐
What a fun fact! We never knew MASH was filmed in Malibu!
I didn’t know that either. Happy Wordless Wednesday. ๐
Oh, we remember Malibu hills…so long ago….lovely photo!
I’ve never been there, but would like to go. It’s 326 miles from where we live. A long drive. ๐
Loved the series MASH,
Thanks, Sandee, for hosting and allowing me to linkup. Happy Hump Day.

Thanks for your kind words Sandee. Take care and have an awesome rest of the week
I loved MASH. I think I have seen every show. In my top 5 all time favorites
I’ve seen every show and would like to see the series again. Great to see you, Saundra. Love you. ๐
Greate show, I’m glad they saved that small piece of TV history.
I pray you and Mr. Zand have a blessed week. Scritches to Lil’ Bit and Squeakers.
We’re doing fine, my friend. Zane is healing up nicely and we’re busy, busy, busy. Love and hugs. ๐
A blast from the past!!! Our Dad loved M.A.S.H.
Woos – Misty and Timber
I loved it too. Scritches to the pups and a hug to you. ๐
Cool! Best wishes and hugs, my dear.
It is cool. Hugs and best wishes back, my friend. ๐
I enjoy seeing the reruns ๐
A great sitcom. ๐
I loved that show! Had no idea it was filmed in California. My father was a Korean War vet and some of his photos from that time show a similar landscape.
https://thedogladysden.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/korea-1951-the-platoon.jpg
I thought it was filmed in Korea, too. Happy Wordless Wednesday, Debbie. ๐
I had no idea MASH was filmed in California!
I always assumed it was shot on location in Korea or somewhere similar.
How fascinating to learn that the beautiful Malibu trails were the backdrop for such an iconic show!
Hugs and blessings, Sandee!
I thought the same thing. Happy Wordless Wednesday. ๐
I saw “left overs” from a famous film (I forgot the title) with Brad Pitt in the deep south of Morocco in a desert. Apparently B Pitt payed for the electricity in this region, people still lived without ! Years later when I returned, I saw the TV parabolic on some rocks, so now they had electricity.
How cool, Gattina. I can’t imagine living without electricity. Happy rest of the week. ๐
My dad says he’s probably seen every single episode. He and mom even started binge watching it when they were in between Asheville and New Hope, but much like me with pretty much everything, they lost interest. Dad says they’re overdue for some real hiking, and those trails sound like they’re just the ticket. Thanks for the interesting tidbit!
I would love to hike these hills, too. You’re most welcome for the interesting tidbit. ๐
Unique find of Mash setting for show ~ my son loved Mash ~ I was too busy with college at the time ~ thanks,
Hugs and love to you and family, Sandee ~
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

I loved MASH and had no idea where it was filmed. Love and hugs to you and Ziggy. ๐
I used to love that show soooooooooooo much!
Me too. Need to watch it again. ๐
MASH was filmed i Cali? As I think of it Korea was pretty cold in Winter and not sure I recall any snow scenes in MASH.
I was shocked about this too. I thought it was Korea. There were snow scenes in MASH. Not many, but lots of cold winters too. ๐
The MASH site, how cool is that. I loved that show back in the day.
Me too, Tony. ๐
Malibu and MASH: Who knew? Thanks to you, now we do! xo
I had no idea either, Bette. Great to see you, my friend. ๐
Have a blessed and beautiful weekend, Sandee! xo
You have a blessed and beautiful weekend, too, Bette. ๐
Thanks so much! ๐
