It’s Wednesday so that means it’s question time. It’s time to ponder and then answer just one question. Okay, you can add all you want as a reason for your answer too. We’d all like that.
Here’s this weeks question: What book are you reading now?
Speaking in Bones by Kathy Reichs.
For every case Temperance Brennan solves, innumerable unidentified bodies remain in her lab. One day, Tempe gets a call from Hazel “Lucky” Strike, an amateur sleuth who believes she’s connected one such body to a missing-persons report on 18-year-old Cora Teague. Since the bones do seem to match Cora’s medical records, Tempe looks into the case.
What seems an isolated tragedy becomes more sinister as Tempe uncovers two more sets of bones nearby. She then learns the area is known as a viewing point for a famous unexplained light phenomenon—with significance for a local cult. Murder by ritual sacrifice? This theory is thrown into question when Hazel turns up dead.
Tempe races to solve the murders before her lab accumulates more bodies.
I am currently reading non-fiction – a book about writing creative non-fiction. Not that interesting, I know, but at least I am reading your blog a bit more timely 🙂

I love(d) the Bones series and several years ago I was in the airport (or on my way to the airport?) I saw the Bones paperback and bought it to read on the plane. I wasn't nuts about it. It was different than the TV series by quite a bit as I recall. Don't pay too much attention though because I didn't care much for the book and quit reading it.

I have Risky Dishes for Rescue Dogs (a cookbook for humans in dog measurements), that will be on Dakota's blog Monday and a cat book on Cody's blog called "Avalon"…haven't started either, but will probably start them Thursday night and read throughout the weekend for their Monday reviews!

Unfortunately, I never picked up the reading habit, so most of my reading involves seeking information. I keep a book about my camera close at hand and I read chapters in books or magazine articles about photography and PhotoShop that interest me.
The only book that I spend much time in is The Bible and I don't read it nearly as much as I should. Have a blessed week.

I'm still in summer reading mode i.e, forensic novels– I do live in Florida in case you guys forgot. It's still summer. My reading habits do change over the seasons. I would never. ever recommend my favorite novel to anyone so I'm not going to expose your readers to that now. Read whatever you want.
I think everyone does read what they want, but hearing about others peoples choices gives me wonderful ideas for exploring new authors. 🙂
I just find that if I don't know a person's reading habits, I'm not going to be good at recommending a book. I've learned my lesson…, I'm staying out of it.
My mother-in-law is always looking for a good book and I have failed her miserably in the past, e.g., Umberto Eco's "Foucault's Pendulum." She hated it so I gave up giving her advice on books.
Fast forward. She's at my house and she asked about the book I was currently reading and I told her it was the first book in the girl with the dragon tattoo series. I told her I enjoyed reading it, but that there was a lot of sexual violence in it. She told me she wasn't a prude and proceeded to read all three books in a very short time. Then she's asking me for more recommendations about books like that. Don't give me erudite. And because our emails are open to each other, my husband is asking me why I'm pushing pornography onto his mother. Sometimes I just can't win.
Okay, I get it now. I wasn't thinking of others likes and dislikes in those terms. Makes sense to me now. 🙂
I just started reading Where the Broken Lie by Derek Rempfer. It is about a guy returning to his small hometown and discovering who killed his first love years ago. Really good so far. I LOVE to read- started going to the library with my Mom when I was about six or seven. Have been a reader ever since.
The library is a wonderful place to discover when you're very young. I so remember. 🙂
Listening to I am Madame X, about a woman in a John Singer Sargeant paining. I'm also reading a book called The Coffee Trader.

I recently downloaded a free book, but I have no idea what the title is. One problem with reading from an old Kindle…I never see the title after I buy it. No matter. I wouldn't recommend it anyway. 12% in, I can tell you how it's gonna turn out.
I love to think I know what's going to happen and then have something completely different happen. 🙂

To Kill a Mockingbird…..our little book club of three is reading it along with Harper Lee's new book Go Set a Watchman. We will meet in 2 weeks and watch the old movie first and then talk about the 2 books! Cheers and have a lovely day curled up with a great book!

Hubby reads a lot of free books too. Some are very good and some not so much. 🙂
