It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian of Brian’s Home. He wants us to post what we’re thankful for.
I think it’s a good thing to do each week. Focus on the positive things in our lives.
Make sure you link up to the Blog Hop at Brian’s Home and get the code to put on your blog. Then visit all the participants.
I’m thankful that I started walking regularly last April. It was hit and miss and mostly miss during the winter months. I vowed to walk six days a week and have done that faithfully since. When it’s cold outside is when I would find excuses not to walk. I found I could walk in our home and stay warm. It’s working.
Today I’m thankful for my Fitbit. I got one the end of December to track my walks. It’s become a bit addictive as I set a goal on how many steps I want to do each day and I make sure I fulfill that goal each day. It’s also helped me eat more healthy. I’ve talked about the extra 20 pounds I was carrying around and am happy that I’m down 17.5 pounds. What a wonderful feeling it is. I’m just trying to be as healthy as I can.
The seven benefits from walking according to Insider are:
- Burn calories and lose weight
- Increase energy levels
- Boost immune system
- Ease pain
- Improve heart health
- Reduce stress, improve mood, and fight depression
- Extend life expectancy.

I always loved walking but have gotten away from it. I’ve always quit in the winter because it’s just too cold. I agree with that list of benefits. I really should get myself a fitbit again and get back into it.
I know you did. It’s hard to do in the winter and I found a way to keep warm and continue to walk. 🙂
Congratulations, Miss Sandee! We love to walk. It’s great to get out and enjoy the fresh Aire!
I do too, but winter was my enemy. Once you quit it’s hard to get stated again. 🙂
We are so happy you are walking. It is the easiest exercise around and you can do it anytime anywhere. Good for you to get the routine going and even lose almost all the weight you would like to lose.
I’m thinking I have another 8 pounds to go. We’ll see when I get there. 🙂
Good for you!
I am thankful that the sunshine melts snow off the sidewalks, for those folks who didn’t shovel.
This way, I can continue to walk in the ‘hood without slipping!
Yes indeed. Walking is a wonderful way to think too. 🙂
the 8th thing that walking does is keep your brain healthy and fight off dementia. I have been walking daily or 5 years and doing range of motion excercises also. And for 25 years have always parked as far away from the buidings as I can. my mother and her sister were both in wheel chairs by age 55 because they never walked or even did housework. congrats on your weight loss.
It does that too. I’m going to continue to walk 6 days a week. I feel so much better. 🙂
Congratulations to you on the weight loss and for staying fit. I am a sloth. Have a great day. 🙂 XO
I feel so much better, Ellen. It took a long time to see any difference, but I didn’t give up. Big difference now. My clothes aren’t tight anymore and I went from medium tees to small. My medium pants are now baggy. 🙂
Standing ovation Sandee!! Yay for you WOW. I’m a walker too. Thankful I have a recumbent indoor bike for cold windy icy days of winter or hot humid miserable days of the summer. Walking is as beneficial for out mind as your bodies
Hugs cecilia
I know you’re a walker. My doctor got me started again. My blood work was not good in several areas. It’s good now. 🙂
Congrats on the weight loss. Good for you! Setting daily goals is the best way to keep those step goals in tact. Keep up the good work.
I’m nailing it every single day. I refuse to no meet my goals. Thank you, my friend. 🙂
Good for you! Thanks for the info on the benefits of walking!
You’re welcome. I did fine when I was working, but now that I’m retired I got more sedentary. Not good. 🙂
Those are excellent thankfuls and good for you for those walkabouts! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I’m feeling so much better. Thank you for hosting the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. 🙂
I should start exercizing more I need to shed those 40 lbs binge snacks I gained after Celesting died.
It’s amazing the benefits. I no longer get short of breath and I was getting pretty bad. I know you had a hard time after Celestine died. Happy Thankful Thursday, my friend. 🙂
Congratulations on your weight loss success, Sandee! 👌 The Fitbit is a great tool, but I have certainly slacked off in recent months. “When it’s cold outside is when I would find excuses not to walk.” Me too! My house isn’t that big, but I bought a Cubii to help burn some calories. Thanks for the inspiration!
I was terrible when it got cold out. I checked out the first floor of our home and found a wonderful path to walk. Kitchen to dining room, dining room to living room, living room to great room and great room to the kitchen. Rinse and repeat. 🙂
Those are excellent gratefuls, Sandee! I’ve increased my exercise routine, as well. Keep up the good work! Happy Thursday!
It feels so good to get out and about. I feel so much better than I did this time last year. 🙂
Fresh air and sunshine can be miraculous!
It’s a good thing to care for our bodies. Happy Thankful Thursday. 🙂
Great post Sandee ~ walking is so healthy ~ fun to challenge yourself with the Fitbit too ~
I have been walking for years now and it really helped during isolation of Covid and is still helping ~ Angel loves walking too ~ We walk in all kinds of weather except when it is snowing or raining or excessive wind ~
Lots of hugs and love to you from me and Angel ~ Xo’s
Wishing your lots of hugs in your days,

It’s a wonderful time to think too. So peaceful. I refuse to go back to not walking. Love and hugs to you and Angel. 🙂
Concatulations, Miz Sandee! I told my Meowmy she needs one of those FitBits, so maybe now she will get one.
It’s working for me. It’s a great way to track your progress too. I’ve brought my resting heart rate down 20 beats per minute. That’s how bad I was. 🙂
Excellent reminders on the benefits of walking daily. It’s a fabulous, easy way to get your exercise. You don’t have to do heart dropping cardio to burn calories. Congratulations on dropping those pounds! I wish I could boost of such accomplishments but at least I’m striving for more stay on my feet activity than on my fanny. 🙂
That’s the key. Off the chair and moving. It’s not that hard. Happy rest of the week, Cathy. Love and hugs. 🙂
Congratulations to you! That is one heck of an accomplishment! I bought Lenny and I imitation Fitbits that I have to set up….I desperately need to get moving and follow your lead. It’s so hard here with it being freezing out, but when you said you walk inside that’s encouraging. Even if I just marched in place it would help!
Walking indoors has worked for me. I’m outside for my second walk of the day because it’s warm enough here, but in the morning it’s freezing. It starts with that first step and I complained for a couple of months and then I started looking forward to my walks. I’ve increased my time three times now. 🙂
Congratulations on your weight loss. I used to love walking, and apart from anything else must have walked for miles around our fields with Eric and Flynn, Unfortunately the cancer pills really messed up my bones and joints and I now have to use a cane. I can still walk but more slowly and need to keep taking a rest so it is not the same.
Walking is a wonderful thing to do and I’m enjoying it. Sorry you have issues walking now. Big healing hugs. 🙂
Very good to keep up your walking schedule!
Wishing you a good rest of the day and a good start to Friday. <3
I’m enjoying the benefits. I’m having a great day and I hope you are too. 🙂
I’m thankful for sunshine on a cold winter day and thankful that days are getting longer! 💞 Cheers for you on your walking routine! I try to walk for 30 minutes (indoors in winter) daily arid to ride Reeboc Cycle 1 1/5 miles on Mon., Wed. & Fri. So far, so good! Walking is great exercise!
Walking is a great exercise indeed. My doctor told me to get back at it and I did. Just did my blood work yesterday for my upcoming annual physical and I was borderline on just one issue. Everything else was perfect. 🙂
I’m hoping to get back to walking soon. I always feel better when I walk!
I know I feel better. It’s amazing the difference. 🙂
It makes you happy (as long as the walk is to the local pub).
I hadn’t thought about going to a watering hole. I’d go with you, Kismet. I love you. 🙂
That’s a thankful with huge health bonuses. Have a great evening, hugs!
It sure is and I know my doctor is going to be happy with me during my annual physical next month. 🙂
I love my Fitbit. My goal is to walk at least 3 days a week, but sometimes I do a bit more.
I had blood work issues and I’ve corrected them by walking and a change in my diet. I love my fitbit too. 🙂
I walk 5 or 6 days a week. Winter isn’t bad here but the summer is a beast. The humidity is often in the high 90% range. Those days my walks are less than my usual 8,000 steps. It amazes me how much better I feel when I walk, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Me too, Patricia and I’m enjoy the results too. Happy day and weekend. 🙂
You are doing great! Our walking slows down in the winter.
I found a way around walking in the winter and it’s working beautifully. Happy weekend. 🙂
A cute blog. Kitties are the best. Have a rewarding day.🎈❤️
You have a rewarding day too. 🙂
I have been wanting a Fitbit too! I am worried my sleep tracking will be a mess though… Brilliant idea to walk inside when it is cold!
I just finished 45 minutes downstairs. It’s very cold this morning. 🙂
