Now thats exaclty the reason why I can never understand the command the peeps give me…English is just too confusing, if only the peeps learnt to bark!

  2. Jeanne Foguth says:

LOL that is precisely the reason my husband frequently asks me to verify how certain words are spelled…. He can never recall which ones sound different but are spelled alike or which sound the same but are spelled differently. (write/right – to, too, two for examples)

  3. Nancy Chan says:

Very confusing indeed! I thank God that my dad sent me to an English school. If it had been a Chinese school and later to switch to an English school, I would have struggled to understand English.

  4. messymimi's meanderings says:

It is confusing, and Spanish can be just the same. There must be at least 8 meanings for the word “como” depending on where you use it in the sentence and whether or not it has an accent, and i forget when to use the accent, too.

    Thanks for the laugh!

There is that. Living here we are more Mexicans than anything else. They have taken over most of the state. You’re welcome for the laugh. 🙂

  5. My GBGV Life says:

Mom never thought much about how difficult English is until she lived abroad for ten years and all the people were telling her how tough it is to learn because there are so many words that mean different things or sound the same but are spelled differently.

  6. Cecilia Upchurch says:

Sandee this is soooooo funny and true. I worked with international students during my career at NC State University.
I cannot tell you how many times I was asked about all the words spelled the same but pronounced differently. English reading comprehension was a prerequisite along with written skills once they arrived.
You have jogged my MyMe today too.

I recall learning being taught the difference in 3 particular words
principle/principal: School leader: ended in ‘pal’
desert/dessert: two ss..’so sweet’ were dessert
stationary/stationery: paper had ‘er’ in it like paper

    Hugs cecilia

I remember all those. I did very well with English while in school. I’m thankful for that. My reports were complete and correct and I testified in court many times on reports that I’d written. Did just fine. 🙂

  7. I'm All About Books says:

You know this is really so true. And they Spanish is an easy language, I am not sure about that. I suppose any language besides English would be easy to learn if you were in a good quiet sitting and spoke it all of the time. I would love to learn Spanish, so I know what they are saying about me, lol! jk Have a beautiful sunny day with the love of your life. I love you honey bunches ❤🤗

  8. The OP Pack says:

Those are all so good. Mom wants to show these to the grands as they are always commenting about all those odd things about the English language.

  9. Jen says:

Every time I have a Kindergartner I am like yes on all of these! We go to see the sea and other such things that my emerging reader just looks at me like what?!!!
