Get to Know You

Each week, Kymber of Booomcha posts three questions in an effort to helps us get to know each other better. I decided it would be a fun meme to do.

Here are 3 questions:
1. If you could be fluent in any language instantly, which would you choose?
2. If you could live in any fictional world from a book or movie, where would you choose?
3. What’s the strangest talent you wish you had?

Here are my answers:
1. Spanish. There are many Spanish speaking people in California.
2. Downton Abbey, but only if I’m rich. A magical time.
3. Folding a fitted sheet.  Mine end up in a messy ball.

And that, my friends, is a touch of booomcha. And now, it’s your turn! If you don’t want to participate, no problem!  Of course, lurkers are always heartily welcome, too. Just head over to Kymber’s Round #83 to participate.

Norwegian. One of my ancestral backgrounds.
I’d live in a world where I was capable of time travel, but not in a manner that I could interact with or change the past; only record it. A lot of ancient mysteries could be solved conclusively that way without an unforeseen impact on today or the future.
I wish I could sing without sounding like William Hung.

  2. Duke says:

French and I would love to live on Prince Edward Island with Anne of Green Gables. Not sure about the strangest talent. I need more time to think on this.

  3. MadSnapper says:

Spanish, because there are more Spanish speakers in Florida that you have I think.
I love Florida, which means IF I were Rich, somewhere else in Florida, but no where in the books I read.
I would like to be able to lose all my fears

  4. My GBGV Life says:

Mom gave up on folding a fitted sheet years ago. She washes it and puts it right back on the bed so no folding needed but we do have spare ones that are all wrinkled. Who cares, they are sheets at our house, not at a hotel, LOL!

  5. Eastside Cats Blog says:

It’s all in the fitted sheets corners; match ’em up, fold in half, match ’em up again, and another fold.
I often find wayward socks or undies in those fitted sheet pockets, after laundry day.

  6. Gene says:

    1) Spanish…would come in handy many times over.
    2) The world of Andy Griffith
    3) I always wanted the ability to crush cars and throw them off the side of the road when I’m driving on the freeway.

What fun! Loved your answers. Yes, spanish would be a good second language. I recently got a new library card for the new neighborhood and learned they do online classes. I may just take some to at least be somewhat literate. Downton Abbey would be a lovely period to live in. But not as the staff. While I loved that show, I think the staff’s role in make the estate work wasn’t as accurate as it was portrayed. Being a cook, maid or footman was hard work. Lastly I’m rather proud I learned how to fold fitted sheets so they don’t look like a rolled up ball. But it took a long time. I just wish I could easily figure out a way to easily put a clean duvet cover on a comforter. That’s practically an Olympic sport!

Mama says Chinese or Japanese so that she can speak to all the tourists she runs into in Rome who don’t speak English and also can order foods at those restaurants more easily, haha. Would live in Three Pines in books by Louise Penny. But love where we live now.
Lay sheet out on bed. Fold in elastic corners and sides, then just fold and fold and fold until it looks as if you really can do, haha. Fools ’em every time. Inside it’s a mess…

  9. Xena, Lucy and Chia says:

    Oz, of course!
While I wish I was a lot better at French, that I studied for 4 years in high school, I think it would be Japanese. The reason is because I KNOW I’ll never be able to learn it other than through magic!
Singing. I often dream of having a nice singing voice. But when your 4 year old looks up at you and says, “Please don’t sing anymore, Mommy,” well, that tells it all.

What a fun meme! I’ve had a good think about my answers as I scrolled through the comments here and think I have my three:
    1) Sign Language, specifically American Sign Language. No matter where you go, there will always be deaf people to communicate with.
    2) The Shire from LOTR
    3) Loud whistle through my fingers like the old aunties 😉

  11. Darla M Sands says:

Good answers, my dear. I’m with you on fitted sheets, so I only keep one set in rotation to avoid the issue. LOL That second question has me stumped at the moment, funny enough. I’ll let the tape spin, as my husband likes to say, and see what bubbles to the surface. Be well!

  12. Rosey says:

Same for the language. It would be helpful at my job.
The “Home Alone” house looked pretty splendid.
    I wish I could write award-winning ads

  13. messymimi's meanderings says:

    Those are good answers.

    I would also choose Spanish.

    Narnia, of course.

I’m not sure what strange talent I would want, but I’d be glad to teach you to fold fitted sheets, there’s a trick and it’s not that hard.

Great answers, Sandee. I enjoyed learning more about you. My answers would be:
    1. Japanese
    2. Hundred Acre Wood from A.A. Milne’s books about Winnie-the-Pooh
    3. I actually know how to fold a fitted sheet (thanks to my mom, who was a bit obsessive about some things. LOL)
