Fragments

I told all of you about not buying a new boat and remodeling ours. Well, we’re going to do just that starting August 31 of this month. We are dropping off our boat to a guy that can make your boat look like new. What are we going to do?

The first step is getting rid of all the carpets. When the boat was built in 2000 carpet was the thing to do. Well, it’s not anymore. Our boat will have faux light teak throughout below. Vacuum and damp mop. It’s bullet proof too. I can’t wait to have clean floors below. It’s almost impossible with carpets on a boat.

Next they are making us a new mattress. Nice and firm and then they are making fitted sheets and a bed covers. I already have boat pillows and they will redo them as well.

I’ve not decided on the colors yet, but this will give you an idea of what it will look like when it’s done. I can’t wait.

Now let’s go to the cockpit. There is carpet there that we have to take up several times a year and bring home to power wash. It just doesn’t stay clean either. I have hated it forever, but the alternatives were few. Well not anymore. There is a new product that again looks like teak that goes down the same as the carpet, but you can vacuum and then damp mop. No bringing them home to clean. I can’t wait.

So when we get the boat back on the 10th of next month there won’t be a piece of carpet anywhere. Did I tell you I can’t wait? I thought so.

Standby for the next phase of work. Not sure what we’ll do next, but we’ll figure it out at some point. I can’t wait.

I'm so happy for you the remodeling of your boat finally starts now. So exciting! I think I would mind the carpet for cleaning reasons, too. It's awesome you get to have it replaced by the faux light teak. I can't wait to see pictures of it and the new bed! 🙂

Good for you. Not a fan of carpet either. At. All. Because 40 years of not getting carpet clean. If you think it's clean, lift up a section and have a look underneath. Ack.

    Enjoy your day hon! xoxo

So carpet on a boat must have been cool the same time carpet in bathrooms was. Why?!?! In both of our houses, we had carpet in all the bathrooms. It was the first thing to go each time. So glad you are getting to remodel. It's going to be so much better!

Smart remodel all the way around. That bed looks fabulous. Comfort is what counts…oh yes, and the ease of cleaning. Perfect combo. Y'all will enjoy this for sure.

Scritches to LB. Big hugs, honey…

Oh that is so exciting Sandee. We are so happy for you. That looks like it is going to be just terrific. Nothing better than to have the cleaning so easy to do. Sandee, you and Zane and Little Bit have a grand day.

My husband's been talking about getting a boat. It sounds like you use it a lot. I don't think it would have Wi-Fi access, though, so I'm not excited about the prospect of being out on the water all weekend without that!

Holy cow that is fancy! Why do I not have a a boat, oh yeah the 4 kids and the whole living in the desert thing kind of puts a damper on boat purchases. Make sure to share some pictures when it's all done!

How exciting, it will be like having a new boat without the cost. I also hated the carpet in our yacht (we sold her years ago). Do you use real teak anywhere? I know we were teak trimmed, but our yacht was 20 years old (probably 30 by now). We had to oil it every year. Now that I am remember I can see why you would want the faux teak!
