I told all of you about not buying a new boat and remodeling ours. Well, we’re going to do just that starting August 31 of this month. We are dropping off our boat to a guy that can make your boat look like new. What are we going to do?
The first step is getting rid of all the carpets. When the boat was built in 2000 carpet was the thing to do. Well, it’s not anymore. Our boat will have faux light teak throughout below. Vacuum and damp mop. It’s bullet proof too. I can’t wait to have clean floors below. It’s almost impossible with carpets on a boat.
Next they are making us a new mattress. Nice and firm and then they are making fitted sheets and a bed covers. I already have boat pillows and they will redo them as well.
I’ve not decided on the colors yet, but this will give you an idea of what it will look like when it’s done. I can’t wait.
Now let’s go to the cockpit. There is carpet there that we have to take up several times a year and bring home to power wash. It just doesn’t stay clean either. I have hated it forever, but the alternatives were few. Well not anymore. There is a new product that again looks like teak that goes down the same as the carpet, but you can vacuum and then damp mop. No bringing them home to clean. I can’t wait.
So when we get the boat back on the 10th of next month there won’t be a piece of carpet anywhere. Did I tell you I can’t wait? I thought so.
Standby for the next phase of work. Not sure what we’ll do next, but we’ll figure it out at some point. I can’t wait.
I'm so happy for you the remodeling of your boat finally starts now. So exciting! I think I would mind the carpet for cleaning reasons, too. It's awesome you get to have it replaced by the faux light teak. I can't wait to see pictures of it and the new bed! 🙂
We'll get some pictures out soon. Sometime next month. 🙂
I am as excited as you are Sandee! I'm sure it will be lovely! 🙂 can't wait for the photos!
I can hardly wait. We've been needing to do this for a very long time. 🙂
Good for you. Not a fan of carpet either. At. All. Because 40 years of not getting carpet clean. If you think it's clean, lift up a section and have a look underneath. Ack.
Enjoy your day hon! xoxo
I so agree. Next is the carpet in our home. Well the first floor at any rate. 🙂
So carpet on a boat must have been cool the same time carpet in bathrooms was. Why?!?! In both of our houses, we had carpet in all the bathrooms. It was the first thing to go each time. So glad you are getting to remodel. It's going to be so much better!
I've never had carpet in a bathroom or kitchen. I would get rid of it too. 🙂
That sounds exciting but…you will have to wait to see it in all it's new glory …bet it goes quick though heheh!
Have a floattastic day Sandee :-h
There is so much more to do, but this is really a great start. 🙂
Very exciting! I can't imagine carpet in a cockpit – is yours enclosed?
Yes it's enclosed so carpet is fine, if you want to clean it all the time. We don't anymore. 🙂
I bet it IS hard to keep carpets clean on the water. I hope you love the new floors (and I'm guessing you will). 🙂
We're going to love the new floors. No doubt about it. 🙂
OMG that bed is GORGEOUS!!!! It is a zillion times better than our NORMAL bed!

That isn't the exact bed, but just an idea of the look. 🙂
Smart remodel all the way around. That bed looks fabulous. Comfort is what counts…oh yes, and the ease of cleaning. Perfect combo. Y'all will enjoy this for sure.
Scritches to LB. Big hugs, honey…
It's hard to keep a boat clean. It's just like and RV in that aspect. Always catching all the dust. 🙂
The bed is nice & firm. Interesting.Ha,ha,ha. Oops, sorry it's my Italian mind controlling me again. Ha,ha,ha.
Have a nice & firm Thursday Sandee. See ya.
Cruisin Paul
Nice and firm is a good thing. 🙂
Oh that is so exciting Sandee. We are so happy for you. That looks like it is going to be just terrific. Nothing better than to have the cleaning so easy to do. Sandee, you and Zane and Little Bit have a grand day.
Thanks Marg. We are pretty jazzed about this too. 🙂
Sandee, I am so happy for you!!! I am looking forward to seeing photos of the end result! 🙂
I'll make sure there are photos when we get the boat back. 🙂
Beautiful. I'll be over on the 11th 😉
On the 11th we'll be cruising to a destination and you're more than welcome to join us. 🙂
It is very exciting waiting for the boat to be done up. Looking forward to see your post on the boat.
It is very exciting Nancy. 🙂
Sounds like a plan … enjoy! c-)
We will Odie, we will. 🙂
I'm sure you're going to give us a full tour when the remodel is complete. I can't wait.
Now to worry, you'll get the big tour of the boat. 🙂
Yipeeee yay! It's going to be so nice when you are done. How exciting! Yes! We want a tour! Yipeeeeeeeeeee!
No problem on the tour. There will be many before we're done. 🙂
You also get a new piece of paper. The bill
Well there is that, but it's way cheaper to remodel than buy a new boat. 🙂
wow what a great idea- no carpeting….and we cannot wait to see the end result!
Cheers!
It will be so much easier to keep clean. That's what I'm looking forward too. That and it will look awesome. 🙂
I couldn't keep the fish smell out of my carpet so had to take it up! Sound like you've gpt a big project!
We don't fish, and the carpet doesn't smell, you just can't keep it clean. 🙂
My husband's been talking about getting a boat. It sounds like you use it a lot. I don't think it would have Wi-Fi access, though, so I'm not excited about the prospect of being out on the water all weekend without that!
We have Verizon 4G that we take with us everywhere we go. We always have connectivity. 🙂
Seymour may have to come back for another *sail* 😉
Seymour is always welcome here. 🙂
Hooray for no carpet! We had to yank carpet out of the bathrooms, too, and it's silly to have carpet anywhere that there will be a lot of water.
I can't imagine anyone wanting a carpet in a bathroom or kitchen. Really I can't. 🙂
Holy cow that is fancy! Why do I not have a a boat, oh yeah the 4 kids and the whole living in the desert thing kind of puts a damper on boat purchases. Make sure to share some pictures when it's all done!
That's not our boat, but a likeness so you'd get an idea of what it will look like. I'll get pictures of our boat and it's not this fancy. 🙂
How exciting. Love the look of that bed. I hate carpeting in the house I can't imagine what a pain it would be in a boat.
It's impossible to keep clean. I can't wait. 🙂
Living large, I love it!
Carpet on a boat…yuuuch! That new material will be nice.
I don't know about living large. Our boat is only 34 feet long, but we love it. 🙂
Exciting news, you both deserve!
Thanks Lisa. It's way overdue. 🙂
It's going to be gorgeous! How wonderful you won't have to mess with cleaning carpets anymore either. That means more time for fun!
Scritches to Little Bit!
Yes, more time for fun. 🙂
How exciting, it will be like having a new boat without the cost. I also hated the carpet in our yacht (we sold her years ago). Do you use real teak anywhere? I know we were teak trimmed, but our yacht was 20 years old (probably 30 by now). We had to oil it every year. Now that I am remember I can see why you would want the faux teak!
We have ours detailed. There is no wood anywhere and we're going to keep it that way. Too much work. 🙂
Sounds like a smart upgrade. Carpet just doesn't sound like a good idea on a boat.
They are a terrible idea on a boat. Too much outdoors. 🙂
