A Post From Hubby

Lil'BitInside
Lil’ Bit

It was early 2002. I had just retired. Sandee was still working. She was on the sidewalk talking to co-workers when a tiny fur ball sat in front of her, looked in her eyes and said, “If you don’t take me I won’t survive.”

I did not want another dog because losing them is too hard, but I can deny my wife nothing. When we lost Little Bit the dog just before her 13th year it broke our hearts, but she had enriched our lives.

Eight years later a starving almost feral cat appeared in our yard, looked in our eyes and said, “If you don’t take me I won’t survive.” So we gently began to work with Lil’ Bit and were finally able to get her inside just before the first freeze of the season. And she is enriching our lives.

We firmly believe that Little Bit the dog reached out from beyond the Bridge to Lil’ Bit the cat and said, “Go here. My parents can be yours now.”

What a wonderful story and how amazing this cat has come into your home and feels comfortable with you all. Dogs are much more trusting that kitties. You are both very special people and this is one lucky kitty.

What an awesome post. I have often said that rescue pets rescue us. But even those purebreds that are bought from reputable breeders bring a special joy into our lives. They depend on us for food, shelter, and essential care. We depend on them for their unconditional love. Pets remind us that being kind is always the best choice. Have a blessed week my friend.

We also had a dog who passed away and we were very sad. After a while my at this time little son was so sad that I told him that he can choose a cat himself because a dog is more difficult when both parents work. And he and his Dad came home happy with a beautiful silver grey cat, a little baby that kids had found in a field. He was such an intelligent and adorable cat ! After 19 years he too died, that’s life !

This bought a tear to my eye. A similar thing happened when my dog died, and a little kitten found me with that same look, knowing he wouldn’t survive without a home and we could provide it. And like that, we go from dog people to cat people. I’m glad Lil’ Bit was able to find a home of such love and warm with you guys, and that he was right on time to bring a little light and comfort into your lives ♥

Zane what a beautiful post about Lil’Bit the First. I am 100% a believer in the fact that angels working miracles from OTRB. Lil’Bit is the purrfect furry baby. Animals are excellent judges of character and both were spot on with you and Sandee. To Lil’Bit the second these folks are gonna be super duper they were trained by Lil’Bit the First.
    Hugs to all of you

HI HUBS! I love that the little babe sat in front of Sandee and y’all took her in. I love it. I have a Lily Bit. Her given name is Tigerlily, she is part tortie and and tabby with spots of color here and there. Tigerlily’s have spots of color…but around the house she is called Lily Bit. I have had here six yrs., I got her for a pet for my dog. He was ten, I had retired and before that he went to moms house everyday to stay there and play with her dogs. When I retired he got to be grumpy, so I got my very first cat of all times (Lily Bit). He was ten, she was 12 weeks. They were the best of friends, slept together, ate together, and played all the time. He is gone now, so three yrs ago I got Misty River (cat) as a pet for Lily but Lily resents the bond that Misty and I have, she was abandoned by her mom and I bottle fed her. Okay…..sorry for rambling on. Sandee, thank you for your comment about helping me move if we lived closer. So sweet. Yes, I am pushing but I have no choice…..I will rest later.

I’ve followed you a long time with your furbabes. Some are angels now. I love both your kitties. They make me smile often. Have a fabulous day and week. Soon you’ll be moved and loving your new home. 🙂

Almost feral, you say? I think you have the wrong adjective… pampered, spoiled, loved… is more what it looks like to me. 🙂 How wonderful to rescue those babes in need. We have an old girl with a story. She was born in the shelter. Rescued for a few years. Returned to the shelter and was 10 when we got her. That was about 6 years ago! My first cat. She picked the boy when we walked through… workers were saying, ‘you’re sure you want the old cat?’ How dare they try to talk us out of our gift. 🙂 She’s snoozing next to me as I type. 🙂
