A Post From Hubby

Lil’ Bit
It was early 2002. I had just retired. Sandee was still working. She was on the sidewalk talking to co-workers when a tiny fur ball sat in front of her, looked in her eyes and said, “If you don’t take me I won’t survive.”
I did not want another dog because losing them is too hard, but I can deny my wife nothing. When we lost Little Bit the dog just before her 13th year it broke our hearts, but she had enriched our lives.
Eight years later a starving almost feral cat appeared in our yard, looked in our eyes and said, “If you don’t take me I won’t survive.” So we gently began to work with Lil’ Bit and were finally able to get her inside just before the first freeze of the season. And she is enriching our lives.
We firmly believe that Little Bit the dog reached out from beyond the Bridge to Lil’ Bit the cat and said, “Go here. My parents can be yours now.”

And so a “Lil’ Bit” of your hearts was stolen once again, how beautiful and how it was meant to be. Thank you for sharing.
It was meant to be. She’s so precious. 🙂
That is a lovely story.
We are so lucky she found us. 🙂
We are so happy for you and your peeps, Lil’ Bit!
She’s such a good kitty. So loving. 🙂
Oh my, how sweet this is. Yes, it must be Lil Bit who sent the feline Lil Bit to you both.
Yes our precious Angel Little Bit sent us our feline Lil’ Bit. 🙂
What a wonderful story and how amazing this cat has come into your home and feels comfortable with you all. Dogs are much more trusting that kitties. You are both very special people and this is one lucky kitty.
She’s doing very well. She goes and hides from time to time, but most of the time she is with us. 🙂
Awww, such a lovely story. It was meant to be that Lil’ Bit came into your lives. Happy Monday! Hugs.
It was meant to be. I was surprised at how hubby took to her. 🙂
What an awesome post. I have often said that rescue pets rescue us. But even those purebreds that are bought from reputable breeders bring a special joy into our lives. They depend on us for food, shelter, and essential care. We depend on them for their unconditional love. Pets remind us that being kind is always the best choice. Have a blessed week my friend.
Yes they depend on us for everything, but they are worth the effort. We love her so much. 🙂
So touching. Yes, our Angels know what we need. So glad L’il Bit came to you.
We are thrilled to have her as our newest family member. 🙂
definitely an awww moment when lil bit looked into her eyes. so happy for her and for both of you. a house is not a home until there is a pet inside. This is a heart warming holiday story.. thanks for sharing. I love stories with happily ever after
I hear you and hubby wouldn’t let us having any babies after we lost Little Bit. This feline was sent to us by our Angel. 🙂
That is so sweet and Lil’ Bit looks equally happy that she was sent your way!
She’s doing far better than we thought she would. We are most happy and so is she. She’s warm, safe and well fed. 🙂
Very sweet post. I think your hubby is correct about Lil Bit sending you this Lil Bit. She is a cutie. Thanks for hosting. Have a great day. XO
Hubby is right. There isn’t a doubt in either of our minds. 🙂
Ahhh, that’s just so sweet! I’m happy that Lil’ Bit found a good home and filled y’alls hearts with love. 🙂
She’s filled our hearts with love indeed. She’s most precious. 🙂
Pets are wonderful, but their lives are far too short.
That’s true, but we’re pretty old. We’re worried the cat will outlive us. 🙂
I love you my Only Wife. I love you Lil’ Bit my Only Kitty.
We both love you back, too. Thank you for letting us have this precious feline. 🙂
What a nice post to start the week with!
I thought so too. We’re over the moon to have this precious soul in our home. 🙂
What Husband school did he go to, because I need to send My Hubby there!
I don’t know. He’s always been a kind heart. I’m a lucky gal. 🙂
Very dear. Thank you for touching our hearts. Aloha
You’re most welcome, Cloudia. She is a jewel in our lives. 🙂
We also had a dog who passed away and we were very sad. After a while my at this time little son was so sad that I told him that he can choose a cat himself because a dog is more difficult when both parents work. And he and his Dad came home happy with a beautiful silver grey cat, a little baby that kids had found in a field. He was such an intelligent and adorable cat ! After 19 years he too died, that’s life !
Cats are wonderful housemates. So are pups, but a long more work. 🙂
I believe as you do ~ so glad ‘Lil Bit’ has you and you have L’il Bit ~ grateful ~ Xo
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
She is lucky and we are even luckier. Love and hugs to you and Ziggy. 🙂
This bought a tear to my eye. A similar thing happened when my dog died, and a little kitten found me with that same look, knowing he wouldn’t survive without a home and we could provide it. And like that, we go from dog people to cat people. I’m glad Lil’ Bit was able to find a home of such love and warm with you guys, and that he was right on time to bring a little light and comfort into your lives ♥
Yes it happened to you and now it’s happened to us. We are ever so happy to have Lil’ Bit as a family member. 🙂
Zane what a beautiful post about Lil’Bit the First. I am 100% a believer in the fact that angels working miracles from OTRB. Lil’Bit is the purrfect furry baby. Animals are excellent judges of character and both were spot on with you and Sandee. To Lil’Bit the second these folks are gonna be super duper they were trained by Lil’Bit the First.
Hugs to all of you
Cecilia
Yes Angel Little Bit did a great job training us. We’re so happy Lil’ Bit knew to come here. Hugs, my friend. 🙂
HI HUBS! I love that the little babe sat in front of Sandee and y’all took her in. I love it. I have a Lily Bit. Her given name is Tigerlily, she is part tortie and and tabby with spots of color here and there. Tigerlily’s have spots of color…but around the house she is called Lily Bit. I have had here six yrs., I got her for a pet for my dog. He was ten, I had retired and before that he went to moms house everyday to stay there and play with her dogs. When I retired he got to be grumpy, so I got my very first cat of all times (Lily Bit). He was ten, she was 12 weeks. They were the best of friends, slept together, ate together, and played all the time. He is gone now, so three yrs ago I got Misty River (cat) as a pet for Lily but Lily resents the bond that Misty and I have, she was abandoned by her mom and I bottle fed her. Okay…..sorry for rambling on. Sandee, thank you for your comment about helping me move if we lived closer. So sweet. Yes, I am pushing but I have no choice…..I will rest later.
I’ve followed you a long time with your furbabes. Some are angels now. I love both your kitties. They make me smile often. Have a fabulous day and week. Soon you’ll be moved and loving your new home. 🙂
Precious! 😍 Thanks for sharing… HUGS!
She is precious and we’re so very happy to have her in our family. 🙂
What a lovely story, and I’m glad you took in the little kitty. Lil’ Bit is a gorgeous tabby! <3
She’s a very pretty girl with a wonderful disposition. 🙂
This warms my heart. Hugs to you and yours.
I’m happy to hear that. Hugs back. 🙂
I am sure you are right
We are convinced Angel Little Bit sent this kitty to us. 🙂
They really do ‘enrich our lives’. YOu said it perfectly.
They do indeed, Lydia. Happy week. 🙂
that is a beautiful beautiful story! What a wonderful way for a kitty in need to come into your life!
We are beyond thrilled. We love her so and she fits right in. 🙂
I am so very, very glad for all 3 of you. Hugs to you, sir and Ms. Sandee, and scritches to Lil’ Bit.
She’s a happy kitty and we’re thrilled to have her part of our family. 🙂
Almost feral, you say? I think you have the wrong adjective… pampered, spoiled, loved… is more what it looks like to me. 🙂 How wonderful to rescue those babes in need. We have an old girl with a story. She was born in the shelter. Rescued for a few years. Returned to the shelter and was 10 when we got her. That was about 6 years ago! My first cat. She picked the boy when we walked through… workers were saying, ‘you’re sure you want the old cat?’ How dare they try to talk us out of our gift. 🙂 She’s snoozing next to me as I type. 🙂
She was very wild when we first started to feed her. She would run from us. It took hubby weeks to get the kitty to get near him. Treats helped. 🙂
Wonderful story where everyone wins.
Yes, everyone wins. We’re thrilled to have her. 🙂
OMG! I’m so glad I stopped by dearest Sandee. What a blessing to arrive into your lives just around Thanksgiving. Lil Bit is back in a new beautiful avatar and life wont be the same again for you both.
