Vail, Colorado is gorgeous in the fall, despite the fact this ski town is off-season. Imagine looking down at the fall foliage from a hot air balloon, with a view of the majestic Rocky Mountains, colorful leaves, lakes, rivers and waterfalls. Other kid-friendly adventures include zip lining, horseback riding, bike riding, a walk around the Vail Farmer’s Market, fly-fishing and, of course, eating. There is plenty of farm-to-table dining throughout Vail. Scenic drives to fully capture the beauty of the leaves include rides through the Battle Mountain Pass, Red Sandstone Park, Brush Creek Road and Independence Pass.

It’s very pretty, but I sure wouldn’t like the drive it would take to get there. I’m not a mountain driving fan by any means. 😉
I love the mountains, but some do get sick traversing them. I get it. 🙂
What a beautiful view. I don’t know about zip lining but horseback riding sounds fun
I’m too big of a coward to do a zip line, but I’ll ride horses with you. 🙂
Oh yes it LQQKS lovely I always love this time of year even though it gets dark very early heheh!
Have an autumnaltasticated WWS ➡
I don’t like the shorter days either. I love long summer days. 🙂
I’ve always wanted to try zip lining. Vail seems like a good place to check it out 🙂
You should do it, Ellen. I think you’d love it. 🙂
Beautiful fall colours and beautiful mountain view.
Yes on both counts, Nancy. 🙂
Gorgeous foliage. Love the pretty colours.
Happy WW, Sandee.
Me too, Veronica. Fall is a beautiful time. 🙂
I love all things fall. Happy WW to you too, Veronica. 🙂
Now that’s pretty and is sure frame worthy!
We don’t get much fall here. Too many palm trees. I’d love to see fall done right. 🙂
Awww…Inspiring! (Hugs)
Yes indeed, Michelle. Have a blessed day. Hugs. 🙂
That is one gorgeous picture for sure. Looks like a 3D picture, kind of. Sandee, you and Zane have a perfect day.
I love it when they jump off the page at you. You have a perfect day too, Marg. 🙂
Colorado is beautiful. We drove through there in late spring a few years ago.
I’ve explored Colorado. It’s a beautiful state indeed. 🙂
What a beautiful place! One of my cousins went to college in Boulder – it looked a lot like that.
I enjoyed Denver back in the day. The mile high city. Lots to do. 🙂
Stunning! We are actually having Fall-like weather here right now! Hallelujah 🙂
Have a great one!
Enjoy it. We are having very cold nights and mornings. Next I’ll be donning socks. I hold out as long as I can. You have a great one too, Jen. 🙂
Beautiful. That is really an awesome pic with the blues and the white popping. Thanks for sharing.
I wish I could see this in person. 🙂
Colorado is a gorgeous state and I suspect that autumn may be it’s finest hour…unless you love to snow ski….then winter is the season for you. Have a blessed day.
I’m not into snow skiing so this would be a delight to see. 🙂
I live near there! We feel that we are so lucky to call that mountain world home!
I would say you’re very lucky too. Beautiful place to live. 🙂
Beautiful photo. Thanks for hosting. Have a great day!
Thank you, Ellen. You have a great day too. 🙂
Beautiful
I agree, Joe. Loved your post today. 🙂
Another panoramic view for WW ~ love it! ~ Xox from Ms Z and me to you ^_^
Happy Day to you,
A ShutterBug Explores
aka (A Creative Harbor)
I would love to have this view for as long as it lasts. Happy day to you and Ms. Zoe. 🙂
The Rockies is such stellar range of mountains! Have a lovely day!
Yes they are. I’ve been in parts of the Rockies, but I would love to see all of it from front to back. You have a lovely day too. 🙂
I love fall photos , love the colors!
Me too, it’s a beautiful time of year. 🙂
Vail is beautiful as is all of Colorado this time of year! When we lived there, we loved driving through the mountains to see the fall colors.
Happy halfway to the weekend!
I would have been doing that often too. I love the colors of fall. Breathtakingly beautiful.
Have a great rest of the week. 🙂
Vail has everything but cactus.
That’s true. Cactus is beautiful too. 🙂
Have spent time in Steamboats Springs, but not Vail…yet. In the non-skiing time, since I don’t ski and I don’t especially like the cold either, needless to say.
I’m not a fan of winter either. Or cold weather. I’ve not been to Steamboat Springs. 🙂
Such a beautiful and wonderful photo. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thank you, Patrick. Have a great Wordless Wednesday and thanks for linking up. 🙂
Lovely! We got to go up in a hot air balloon a few years ago. It’s flat terrain here. That looks like sort of a scary region where you’d risk unexpected air currents. Heh… Guess I’m not very adventurous.
I’ve flown over the Rockies many times and yes it’s scary when the plane just drops because of the air pockets. I’m not very adventurous anymore either. 🙂
No truer words ever spoken! Your picture not only speaks for itself, but tells the whole story! Have a wonderful day my sweet friend… HUGS
Thanks, Marie. I don’t like to post pictures without telling where and what I posted. I guess I’m just Wordy Wednesday most of the time. You have a wonderful day too. Hugs back. 🙂
Gorgeous!!! This southern girl finds WW a challenge. LOL She will talk to a telephone pole.
Hugs Cecilia
I agree, Cecilia. You’re always welcome to join in. It’s really easy to do. Hugs back. 🙂
we have the same gorgeous foliage here now!! I love fall!
Oh lucky you. There are just too many palm trees here. They are always green. 🙂
I lived in Colorado for a while and it lives up to it’s name. It is a colourful and beautiful place.
I’ve visited Colorado many times and it is indeed a beautiful place. 🙂
It’s just beautiful. we put our post link in. Enjoy.
Thanks for linking up, Crystal. Most appreciated. 🙂
I had fun.
Colorado is not for me, I get altitude sickness on a stepladder.
Denver is a mile high. It’s up there and you can feel it too. 🙂
Colorado seems to be beautiful all year round. We are just now starting to see some color changes, now that the rain has finally stopped.
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Fall is a magical time of year. Prayers for Lightening. 🙂
I’ve seen that view before. Nice.
I’ll bet you have and Seymour was probably trolling for broads. I mean lady rocks. 🙂
That’s a place i’d love to visit in the summer and fall.
Me too. I’ve not been in Colorado in some years. Always enjoyed it there. 🙂
Wow! What a vista!
Yes indeed, Lydia. 🙂
Oh wow! That’s so beautiful. I’ve been to Vail, but never in the fall. The fall colors are just now getting started here where we live.
Thank you, Sandee, for hosting Wordless Wednesday! Have a great week!
It is beautiful indeed. I love fall colors. You have a great week too. 🙂
What a stunning photo. I have always wanted to go up in a hot air balloon, and this does look like great spot for it. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Janet
I would be scared to death in a hot air balloon. I have height issues. I’ll watch you go. 🙂
Fall in the mountains would be very nice.
I’ve been in the Sierra’s during fall before the snow shut the passes down and it’s most beautiful. 🙂
WoW! Looks just like home in the Kootenays! I am officially homesick now. Gosh I miss fall in the mountains.
Love Barb
I live in the flat lands and there are lots of palm trees. 🙂
Vail is a gorgeous place any time of year, but autumn is something particularly special!
Yes it is. I love the mountains. 🙂
Beautiful scenery! No zipline for me – nope, not, never!
No zip line for me either. I’m mortified of heights. 🙂
Me too! 😱
Oophs, was trying to see what the differences were in selecting a picture for the link. and it wouldn’t let me change it. Thought when it said generic, it met a generic picture from my blog, as I think the last linky party I did operated that way. Sorry for the confusion and the boring non picture for my link. Boooooooo hiss, maybe I’ll do better next time. No zip line for me, they scare me.
Are you talking about your avatar? WordPress does that. If you have a WordPress account you can change your avatar. 🙂
Ooh, that photo brings back fond memories for Mom. She grew up in Colorado and once took a balloon ride with a friend through one of the canyons. Purr purr purr.
It’s a beautiful state indeed. How fun on the balloon ride. 🙂
Sandee,
It’s been a busy week. I’m sorry for the late visit. Your image share is breath taking! I hope to see the Rockies someday. Thanks for hosting the midweek fun.
wow, that would be pretty country to go hiking. Look at those autumn colors!
