Wordless Wednesday

WW is a simple blog post featuring a photo which conveys a message that speaks for itself without using words.

For all the rule breakers, of which I am one, please feel free to add all the words you want.

The Great Emu War

In 1932, the emu population in Australia had gotten out of hand and they were invading farms and destroying crops. As a result, the Australian army was sent on a mission to gun down the emus with machine guns, but the birds turned out to be surprisingly difficult targets. The military “lost” the war against the emus. Source: History Snob

Well, I’m glad they lost the emu war! Surely they could have done something more humane, like round them up and relocate them? 🤔

Thanks for hosting and have a lovely Wednesday, Sandee! ☀️

Trying to comment again – wouldn’t let me first try ! Anyway, I think emus are strange critters but agree with the thought that relocating them would have been a kinder choice than mowing them down with guns. EEEK!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy

I’m sorry you’re having issues with commenting. I have the same problem with a couple of my blogging buddies. Yes it seems another approach would have been kinder. Happy day and rest of the week. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to handsome Teddy. 🙂

The hunter has to be smarter than the prey and that was apparently not the case in Australia. Just sayin’.
Emu’s are about the size of an Ostrich and probably eat quite a bit of grain and have very few natural predators. That can be devastating on crops and frustrating for the farmers. Still there has to be a better way to manage the population. Here in the U.S. feral hogs are a huge problem and just hunting them down one by one is NOT working. We humans are rarely as smart as we think. Just sayin’. Have a blessed week.

We are not in the Arizona Mountaineering Club, but bless you for thinking we could be. 🙂 We pick up litter in the camp ground as camp hosts. I am glad the emus won, too. Have a good day!

Well, O don’t like to hear that the emus rerunning amok, but taking them down with automatic weapons sounds like a bad plan, and I am happy to know it did not work out. Thanks for linking us up.
