Sea Turtles
Summer is peak season for sea turtles Sea turtle walks are a popular event on Florida beaches in June and July, when huge mama turtles weighing in at around 200 to 250 pounds come ashore to lay their eggs. About two months later, the tiny and adorable sea turtles hatch, but they don’t just make a run for the water. The turtles wait until the sand cools, which is usually at night, and begin their journey to the water.

It is so interesting how different species of creatures start their lives.
It sure is. We need to know these things so we don’t adversely hurt them. Scritches to the pups. 🙂
You come up with some of the most amazing things. 🤣😎🙃
I like to learn new things. I’m happy you approve. Happy day and week. 🙂
When visiting Florida I’ve seen the signs on beaches warning of turtles but I haven’t been there are the right time of year. I understand shorefront motels have to put blackout curtains on windows facing the ocean so the turtles don’t get disoriented.
A good thing to do to protect the turtles. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂
I’ve heard about people going to see the eggs hatch and watch the turtles make their way to the water. That would be interesting to watch
It sure would be interesting to watch. Love and hugs, Ann. 🙂
I did not know that about shining light on the baby sea turtles. Thank you for the always informative posts, Sandee. Sea turtles and all critters are a valuable part of the health of this planet we call home; may they be safe to live their lives in safety.

It’s so sweet to see them running into the sea. We always purray that they’re reaching the sea without getting caught by a birdie or so. Oh, we only saw this on tv not live…wished we had, Sandee😸Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day and week ahead to you, Zane and the sweet kitties too🐾😽💞
I’m sure many of them don’t make it, but enough do to keep the species going. Double Pawkisses to you both and a big hug to Granny. 🙂

We don’t have turtles, I’d love to see them in the wild. Here, it’s just crabs wandering around!
People crabs or crab crabs? Sorry that’s what I though of with your comment. Happy day and rest of the week, Keith. 🙂

Hi, Sandee. It would be really fun to see the little sea turtle’s making their way to the water. I have shared #57. I have a weak image for the wordless part. There is always Life Captured’s wordless party called My Sunday Snapshot. You and your guests are invited to share your link there!
Hope to see you soon!

above the weak image should read weekly image. There is always should be, There is also. Dang me for typos!
I got the weekly part. Our fingers are faster than our minds at times. 🙂
We’ve seen the cordoned off sea turtle nests in Florida where we used to go. They now encourage everyone to dim lights at night so the little ones don’t get confused and run away from the water toward the lights. They really are cute little things, aren’t they.
I pray you and Mr. Zane have a great week. Give Lil’ Bit and Squeaker a hug and a treat from me, please.
They are so precious. We need to do whatever it takes to protect these precious babies. Happy day and rest of the week. Love and hugs, my sweet friend. 🙂
