It is a most beautiful painting. Thanks for the video link on Mona Lisa. Happy WW and rest of the week, my friend. Love and hugs. 🙂

  1. Pam and Teddy says:

Super interesting post – we’ve seen her in person on a trip long ago through Europe. We were lucky that day as I recall – had her all to ourselves as nobody was crowded around her in the museum. There’s a lot to “read” in her eyes! Happy Wordless Wednesday.

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy

    • Sandee says:

Lucky you. I’m glad it was the prefect day for you to have her to yourselves. Happy WW and rest of the week. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to handsome Teddy. 🙂

  3. My GBGV Life says:

Mom saw her at the Louvre, in Paris years ago. She was disappointed. I guess it is not her kind of art. There are way too many prettier, more interesting paintings to look at is her feeling.

    • Sandee says:

That’s the thing about art. Some love it and others don’t. Nothing wrong with that. Happy day and rest of the week. Scritches to the pups. 🙂

  4. Dixie says:

Amazing really. I’d love to see it in person.
    Apparently,Leonardo never delivered it either.
It moved with him and he refined it for years.

  5. Alana says:

It’s interesting seeing famous paintings in person. I hope to see the Mona Lisa one day. I did know it was small. Alana ramblinwitham

  6. Eastside Cats says:

The man who stole La Giacondo just grabbed it off the wall and walked out. I’ve read a few books about it, plus books on other art heists. Then Dan Brown wrote his “The Da Vinci Code” and now she’s even more famous!

    • Sandee says:

I linked your post. What a fun shot. Feel free to link up anytime you wish. You’re most welcome. Happy WW and rest of the week. 🙂

  7. Suzette Benjamin says:

Fascinating details and post, Sandee. I didn’t know any of these facts. Thank you so much. You probably won’t believe this, but I was going to share a meme about the Mona Lisa today. When I went to look for it, though, I couldn’t find the one I had in mind…how amazing is that, dear friend? I much prefer your superb share with factual info on this painting.

And a blessed Wordless Wednesday to you. I appreciate you and your kind support, dear friend. Much love and hugs.

  8. Pat says:

Thanks, Sandee, for this interesting information about DaVinci’s famous Mona Lisa painting. I’d love to see it in person one day. The name Lisa has always been a favorite name of mine. Happy Wednesday and enjoy your day!

  9. CAAC says:

I read some of these factoids before when I did my own sketch of Mona Lisa a few years back. Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy learning new tidbits! 🙂

  10. ghostmmnc says:

Interesting to know there was a real person this painting was supposed to be of. I always figured it was pretty large, too. … Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday <3

  11. Lydia C. Lee says:

Off to find the details of this mailbox. How odd! I love the photo of when they got the painting back after it was stolen. It pops up in my SM from time to time….Adam Rex (?) did a children’s book on the theft. My kids loved it….

    • Sandee says:

It’s a most wonderful history she’s had. A beautiful painting. Love the children’s book. Brilliant. Happy day and rest of the week, Lydia. 🙂

  12. messymimi's meanderings says:

I’m so glad you got in! And in time for Thursday, too.

Your poem is just right, I’d have bought it, too. Just the intrigue and the fun of it is enough. I’m glad I wrote my poem already before reading yours, I have to or I’m too busy thinking of what others write. My poem will be up tomorrow in the usual place.

    • messymimi says:

Oops! My computer erased my comment on Teddy’s poem and when I tried to rewrite it, it ended up posting on the wrong comment feed, sorry! You’re welcome to delete that comment and this one, I copied it to theirs.

  13. messymimi's meanderings says:

It’s one amazing painting, and I’ve read the story of how it was stolen. They think the man who masterminded it got a forger to paint several copies, and after he paid a worker in the Louvre to steal it and hide it in his apartment, the mastermind contacted several wealthy people and “sold them the original which I had stolen so I could offer it to you.” Then, once it was found and returned, of course none of those people who were scammed dared complain, knowing buying stolen goods was illegal. If it really happened that way, it was brilliant.

    • Sandee says:

A wonderful history lesson in thievery. Thank you for that. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week, my friend. Love and hugs. 🙂

  14. Veronica Lee says:

Growing up, we had a “Mona Lisa” hanging in the living room– of course it was just a reproduction, but it always felt like she was watching over us with that mysterious smile.
Reading these fun facts brings back those memories and makes me appreciate her even more. 😊🎨

  15. Al Penwasser says:

During a USO-sponsored visit to Paris (which was awesome) while our ship was anchored in Marseilles, one of our destinations on the day we were set to return was the Louvre. What ensued was a madcap dash through the museum to see the Mona Lisa. I wrote a story about it (called “Plastic Dead Guys”) which I may post. Anyway, we finally found the painting, but I was amazed at how small it was!

  16. Marvelous Marv says:

When Mom went to Art School, she had a picture of Mona that she taped in the front of everyone of her sketch books. It brings back some great memories! Thanks Sandee
