About April
April Fools Day began in France during the 16th century, after the New year calendar was moved from April 1st to January 1st. Those who continued to celebrate the April new year were considered fools, and often the victims of practical jokes. Today we just like to have a little fun with our friends!
Many festivals occur in April. In Washington DC, there is the beautiful Cherry Blossom Festival. New Orleans hosts its Jazz and Heritage Festival and Atlanta celebrates its annual Dogwood Festival. In St. Louis, thousands come out to participate in the annual Earth Day Festival.
April has two birth flowers. Both the daisy and the sweet pea are considered birth flowers for the month of April. The sweet pea signifies blissful pleasure, while daisies represent childhood innocence, loyalty, and purity. Source: Educate Today

April is usually a beautiful month in Virginia…..this year Spring has struggled a bit arriving but still there are signs of the change from ice and snow to flowers and warmth……we’re READY!
Hugs, Pam and Teddy
We’ve been having rain for the last two days and it’s wonderful. A gentle rain and it’s chilly. We’re loving it. Happy day and rest of the week. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to Teddy. ๐
I didn’t know the history of how April fools started. Fun fact. Hope you have a prank free day
I didn’t either and found it blog worthy. Happy Wednesday and rest of the week, Ann. ๐
Daisies are so pretty and so are sweet peas! Happy April to you, Miss Sandee!
Happy April to you both. Love daisies and sweet peas, too. ๐
Hopefully the dogwood festival in Atlanta isn’t too big as we have to drive through there during those dates! No festivals around here, it is just waiting for the ugly look to slowly turn green and in a couple weeks have some flowers pop up which might include the ever popular, not, dandelions!
Spring has arrived in some places and not in others. I hope your drive turns out okay. Happy day and rest of the week. Scritches to the precious pups. ๐
I did not know that this day has a so old significance.
But my last video in the post offer another significance of this day.
Happy WW, dear Sandee! Hugs and love!โค๏ธ๐
Thank you for the Blog Hop.
I didn’t know it either. It’s good to learn new things. Happy WW and rest of the week, Suzana. Love and hugs. ๐
Fun facts, Sandee! Happy April!
Fun is a good thing and I love my blog to be fun. Happy April, my friend. Hugs. ๐
Beautiful post , Glad to know about festivals of April.
Thanks a lot for hosting , Greetings.
I’m glad you enjoyed this post. Happy day and rest of the week. ๐
I may be a fool, but I think April is better as the new year. Spring is a far better start than the middle of winter. ๐คฃ๐๐
It has it merits for sure. Happy day and rest of the week. ๐
I didn’t know the origin of April Fool’s Day. I have to admit I did just check before I commented in case this was an April Fool. It is all true, maybe I am the fool for having to check first!
It’s good to be cautious today. You just don’t know if things are true. Happy WW and rest of the week, Jackie. Love and hugs. ๐
Very interesting facts about April Fool’s Day. I did not know any of this. Thanks for hosting. Have a nice day. XO
I didn’t either and thought it would be fun to post. Happy day and rest of the week, Ellen. Scritches to the kitties. ๐
I definitely won’t trust anything I will read online or be told today. I didn’t know its origin story, either. But, spring is here and I’m happy. Not an April Fool.
I don’t trust much of what I read online any day of the week. Yes spring is here and we’re happy too. ๐
We didn’t know that! Thanks!
Learning is a good thing. Happy Wednesday and rest of the week. Scritches to the kitties. ๐
I did not know that’s how it started.
I didn’t either. I love finding tidbits of information to share. Happy day and rest of the week. ๐
Can you imagine someone switching our New Year from Jan 1 to any other date? I’d probably be the January fool!
Loved reading about this as well as the festivals and birth flowers.
I would be the January fool too. Happy day and rest of the week. ๐
That really was intetresting!!!
It’s good to learn new things. Happy day and rest of the week. Scritches to the precious kitties. ๐
My (much older by 15 years) cousin and her family lived in Maryland. When I was a teenager we often visited we often were able to see the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom.
Happy Easter hugs to you Sandee, Zane, Squeaker and L’bit
Cecilia
I would love to see the cherry blossoms. I love everything about spring. Love and hugs to you and Kit and scritches to all the kitties. ๐
As kids, April 1st was such a big deal!

Lovely image and thanks for the information about April fools.
You’re most welcome, my friend. Thanks for playing along. I love your trip. ๐
I was just wondering how April’s Fool came to be. Thanks for the tidbit of history. It certainly makes a lot of sense to celebrate a new year when life returns to our world again, but then that’s not true for all parts. I wonder if that’s why it got moved to Jan. 1st? Oh well…I’m now a little smarter thanks to you. ๐
I don’t know why it got moved either, but I love all things spring. Love and hugs, Cathy. ๐
I had no idea April Foolsโ Day started in France.

I quite love both the April flowers, Sandee. Personal favs but then I have so many.
April fools days seems like a reminder to be goofy, and fun. We must look at the lighter side of life and take time to play. Thankfully for our furry companions, they ensure we get all of that. ๐
Being goofy and fun is a good thing every day. Looking on the lighter side of life is what we do. Love and hugs, sweet Natasha. ๐

I hope the same for you. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to handsome Wilson. ๐
