WW is a simple blog post featuring a photo which conveys a message that speaks for itself without using words.
For all the rule breakers, of which I am one, please feel free to add all the words you want.
Make sure you leave a link to your post and Iโll visit your Wordless Wednesday post.
HTML
1 in 9 Americans think HTML is an STD. According to a 2014 study, about 11% of the American population believes that HTML is a sexually-transmitted disease. The markup web language actually stands for Hypertext Markup Language. Source: Facts.net
Linking up with a bunch of fantastic peeps from the blogosphere who host Wordless Wednesday โ Betty, image-in-ing, Keith, Senior Salon, Esme Salon, CatSynth, and Suzana.

HAHA, a disease! HAHA…so interesting…sometimes mama feels as if her techie life COULD be a kind of illness….
I hear you. I’m not very techie, but I never thought html was an STD. ๐
Wow. I never would have imagined 1 in 9 people could not know something that’s been part of our lives for, what, 40 years now? Shaking my head.
I was shaking my head too. I had no idea. ๐
While I will admit I never really knew what HTML stood for, or even bothered to find out, it never made me think in my wildest dreams it was an STD! LOL
Hugs, Pam
That makes two of us. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to handsome Teddy. ๐
Wonderful fact ๐ ๐
Thanks for sharing.
Funny and sad too. Happy rest of the week. ๐
That’s pretty funny but I guess being a blogger, we need to know that kind of stuffs.
Yes we do. HTLM is in every blogs name. Happy WW and rest of the week. ๐
We aren’t going to make it, are we?
I don’t think so. Sad. ๐
That’s too funny. I didn’t know what the letters stood for but I did know that it wasn’t a sexually transmitted disease.
Same here, Ann. I thought this was funny and sad at the same time. ๐
That is hilarious!! I knew it was something including text language, but never knew the full name for it.
Well neither one of us thought it was an STD. That’s a good thing. Love and hugs, Jackie. ๐
Oh my gosh! That made us laugh as we would never have guessed that. HTML has been a computer thing for us since we first heard of it. The things people come up with!
Hubby heard of this, but I hadn’t. Scritches to the pups. ๐
Omigosh! That’s hilarious! Happy Wednesday! Hugs!
Hilarious and sad. Happy Wordless Wednesday, my friend. Hugs. ๐
That is too funny. ๐ Thanks for hosting. Have a nice day. XO
Funny and sad. You’re welcome for hosting. My pleasure. Love and hugs to you and scritches to all your precious kitties. ๐
I’ve been coding for many years. First time I have heard of this! lol Hilarious!
You’re way smarter than the rest of us for sure. It’s amazing. ๐
Not really smarter…more curious maybe. lol I poke around in a little bit of everything. I know just enough coding to be dangerous!๐
That’s crazy!
It is indeed. Scritches to the kitties. ๐
That’s funny!!! ๐คฃ๐๐
It is and it’s sad, too. Happy day and rest of the week. ๐
I have no idea what it is or does, but it is with computer stuff, so this is funny. Happy Wednesday <3
I hear you. Happy Wednesday and rest of the week, Barbara. Hugs. ๐
Too funny!
I found this and just shook my head. Happy WW and rest of the week. Scritches to the precious kitties. ๐
LOL…Obvi they have never tried to edit a blogger post LOL.
That is too funny!
I love Wednesdays at your place Sandee…I always learn such fun things!
Blogger got more difficult than WordPress. I noticed that too, so I got rid of Blogger. I’m happy you enjoy my learning Wednesdays. Scritches to the pups and my very best to the both of you. ๐
That is too funny.
Funny and a bit sad too. Happy day and rest of the week. ๐
OMCs this was quite informative…and funny a disease…it would be to me cause any inter workings of technology make me kinda sick. Thankful to have a contract with Geek squad
Hugs cecilia
I do pretty well with my website, but the inner workings is a bit of a mystery to me too. Love and hugs to you and Kit and lots of scritches to the kitties. ๐
LOL That’s funny.
Have a great rest of the week!
I thought it was funny and shocking too. Happy rest of the week, Yvonne. ๐
Probably even less know what HTML is now since so few people build their own websites or blogs these days.
We can hope it’s less. Happy Wednesday and rest of the week. ๐
Seriously?? My goodness…we sure are a stupid lot of people, aren’t we? Thanks for sharing that, Sandee. Happy mid-week from me and Wilson.
Yes we are. We see it every single day. Happy Wednesday and rest of the week. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to handsome Wilson. ๐
We didn’t know this, Sandee, we’re so not good with computer language and abbreviations , so we’re guilty on being stoopid too๐นDouble Pawkisses for a Happy Day and week ahead to you, Zane and your sweet kitties too๐พ๐ฝ๐
It’s an easy mistake to have. A virus is always a concern to us. Double Pawkisses to you both and a big hug to Granny. ๐
I love you my Only. Your Loving Husband.
I love you my Wonderful Husband. ๐
fun factoid about HTML ~
Hugs and love you from me and Ziggy ~ xo
an artist reflects
I thought is was most amazing. Love and hugs to you and Ziggy. ๐
What a strange idea. And we talk of 2014. Incredible.
Your subjects are so interesting, dear Sandee!
Hugs and love! Happy WW!โค๏ธ๐
I love learning new things. I wonder what difference it would be in 2026. Love and hugs, my friend. ๐
That just goes to show that even though we have whole encyclopedic knowledge available on our phones, some never take the the time to look things up and learn !
You’re so right about this. Happy day and rest of the week. ๐
That is both hilarious and such a perfect example of how our brains handle unfamiliar acronyms.
Itโs fascinating how quickly we categorize unknown tech terms into whatever feels familiar, even if itโs wildly off-base.
Now Iโm picturing someone nervously Googling whether HTML is contagiousโฆ which, of course, requires HTML to load the page. ๐
If HTML were a โdisease,โ I imagine the symptoms would be:
โ An uncontrollable urge to fix formatting
โ Mild irritation at broken links
โ Eye twitching at Comic Sans
Transmission method: prolonged exposure to early 2000s MySpace pages.
The human brain is brilliant, efficient, and occasionally ridiculous.
You captured this far better than I did. Brilliant. Happy WW and rest of the week. ๐
And I always though it stood for “Here’s To More Lasagna”. Who knew?
You made me laugh out loud. ๐
Hahahaha! Good one!!
Having known about and worked with HTML since the early to mid-1990s, I find this statistic quite amusing.
I hear you. I never thought html was an STD. I had no idea. Happy rest of the week. ๐
Thank you, Sandee, for the weekly linkup party. Happy #WW.
WOW, hard to believe and sad to see the ‘ignorance’
My entries: #55+56
Hope you will join ES #WW https://esmesalon.com/wordlesswednesday/ NOW OPEN
It’s funny and sad. Happy WW. Thank you for all you do. ๐
I guess some folks think about sex too much. ๐คฃ
You’re right about that. I love the comments today. Scritches to the pups. ๐
I’m not one of the 11%, but although I use HTML a lot, I’ve never given any thought as to what it stands for – now I know!
We learn something new every single day. Glad I helped you with what HTML means. ๐
It is amazing how little we know about the technologies that drive the world’s systems in everyday life. I hope those folks who did not know what HTML means have been suitably informed (perhaps by Google…lol!). Thank you, Sandee.
Wishing you a great Wordless Wednesday and the rest of the week.
Much love and hugs to you, dear friend.
It is amazing. I love learning weird things. Happy WW and rest of the week. Love and hugs. ๐
Yes me too, I love trivia. Thank you Sandee. Cheers.
There will always be people who don’t keep up with everything, after all, you can’t.
Anyway, thanks for hosting Wordless Wednesday. You and Mr. Zane have a blessed week and give those babies some scritches from me.
You’re right we can’t keep up with everything. Happy WW and rest of the week. You and Mr. Sweetie have a fabulous week. Love and hugs. ๐
That fact cracked me up–proof the blog hop keeps us learning and laughing!
Happy Thursday, Sandee!
I love these little tidbits of learning and laughing, Veronica. Happy Thursday. ๐
1 in 9? That can’t be right. There has to be an age skew – but I’m old and I know so I imagineit has to be people older than me that don’t know. Surely everyone does coding at school now so they ‘d know?
That’s a pretty fun fact if it is true
It was in 2014 so I think the numbers wouldn’t be that high now. Happy day and rest of the week. ๐
Really??? That’s funny and sad at the same time!
I thought the same thing. Funny and sad. Happy rest of the week, my friend. ๐
For everything I don’t know, I google !
To 99.9% I find the answer ! Fortunately it remains HTLM in all languages. Not like A.I ! that changes to KI in German in French it is also I.A !
Amazing isn’t it. I think so too. Happy rest of the week. Scritches to Rosie. ๐
I have no words! lol
I understand. Have a great day and weekend. ๐
