About Turkeys

Each year, about 46 million turkeys are cooked. Thanksgiving Day and turkey go hand-in-hand, so this number shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. Although not all Americans celebrate the holiday or eat turkey, there are still millions of families gathering around the table to partake in one of the most special meals of the yearโ€”and for those who aren’t satisfied with only one day of it, Christmas is also a popular occasion to cook another turkey. A Turkey makes you stop and think why do we eat Turkey for the Thanksgiving meal?
Always give thanks and HAPPY TURKEY ๐Ÿฆƒ DAY and HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU

    • Sandee says:

We’ve not done turkey since the family quit coming. We do all kinds of things from meatloaf, steaks and a pot of soup. Just depends on how we feel. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. Happy Thanksgiving. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. My GBGV Life says:

Turkey day, aka Thanksgiving, is always the big food day of the year but it is also a day to remember to be thankful and not just for the feast that day. Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

    • Sandee says:

Being thankful comes first. I agree. We are thankful every single day of every single year. Scritches to the pups and a hug to you. Happy Thanksgiving. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. 15andmeowing says:

I enjoy the Thanksgiving meal, but I am set with turkey for a long time after. Thanks for hosting. I hope you, Zane, Squeaker and Lil’ Bit have a wonderful Thanksgiving. XO

Too much turkey and it’s just the two of us. We do chicken now and it’s working for us. Happy Thanksgiving, Ellen. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to the kitties. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Sandee says:

It doesn’t make sense for two either. We’re having air fryer chicken, stuffing and potatoes and gravy. Scritches to the kitties and happy Thanksgiving, my friend. ๐Ÿ™‚

Mother always had turkey, TG and Christmas, and that was the only time of the year we had them. Sunday lunch after church was always chuck roast, potatoes and carrots and onions and that was left on the timer in the electric stove that turned in on and off when done. she did that for Turkey also, but set it to come on before we woke up and now I am wondering how long that thawed turkey sat in the oven before it started cooking. its a wonder we survived.

    • Sandee says:

Growing up we did too. I carried the tradition on when mom couldn’t do it anymore. I added a spiral ham since my sister loved ham. Now it’s just hubby and I. Things were different back then. I’m glad we survived too. ๐Ÿ™‚

We’ll eat about 4…come on over
    Hugs and Happy Thanksgiving to
    you all
    Cecilia

  6. Memories of Eric and Flynn says:

I don’t like turkey so we usually have sirloin of beef at Christmas and lamb for the New Year.
No post this week. My PC died on Friday, but thankfully it was able to be fixed without a factory reset. I got it back today and all seems to be working well.

  7. Suzette Benjamin says:

I love the smells of Thanksgiving meals, from the turkey to the stuffing and the pies. Wonderful photo! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Sandee.

We are doing air fryer chicken. Just the two of us and a turkey is too much. We do love turkey though. Love and hugs and you’re welcome for the hosting. I enjoy my three hops each week. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Sandee says:

We are too. We’re not having turkey though. Air fryer chicken, stuffing and potatoes and gravy. It’s a day of thankfulness here. Happy Thanksgiving my dear friends. Scritches to the precious kitties. ๐Ÿ™‚

Turkeys are one of the more delicious native birds, unfortunately for them but happily for the hungry people.

I pray you and Mr. Zane have a blessed and beautiful Happy Thanksgiving, with an extra tidbit of your roast chicken to Squeaker and Lil’ Bit.
