Wordless Wednesday

WW is a simple blog post featuring a photo which conveys a message that speaks for itself without using words.

For all the rule breakers, of which I am one, please feel free to add all the words you want.

Make sure you leave a link to your post and I’ll visit your Wordless Wednesday post.

Oldest Slice of Cake

Go to the Alimentarium food museum in Vevey, Switzerland, and you’ll be able to see the world’s oldest slice of cake, according to Guinness World Records. Discovered in an ancient Egyptian tomb in 1913, the cake consists of two slices of wheat flatbread with a milk and honey filling. Estimated to date back to the reign of Pepi II (2251 to 2157 BCE), it’s the cake’s two copper molds that served as a vacuum, resulting in its preservation. Source: Reader’s Digest

It’s so interesting how they preserve the cake. I wonder if they checked the content.

How fantastic. And great preservation techniques employed. That must have been an important cake to many to be so treasured.

How did I not know about this? I love Vevey. I have always wanted to live there, but it is so expensive. I always thought that living there would be perfect, as we could vacation in Italy. It is such a beautiful town! Hugs, Janet and Purrs from the Kitties Blue

That’s wild. I did know about this one, but not where it is being kept. Amazing how long something can last when kept in a vacuum state.

  5. Memories of Eric and Flynn says:

That is amazing, but I don’t think I want a slice! I forgot it was Wednesday yesterday, and then we had visitors all day so I had to give it a miss this week.
