WW is a simple blog post featuring a photo which conveys a message that speaks for itself without using words.
For all the rule breakers, of which I am one, please feel free to add all the words you want.
Make sure you leave a link to your post and I’ll visit your Wordless Wednesday post.
Ancient Roman Commoners
Secessio plebis (secession of the plebeians) is similar to a general strike but proved much more effective as the upper classes almost entirely relied upon the working classes.
Pretty much everything in the city would close down, which proved to be incredibly effective at having the peasants’ demands met. Maybe this is something that we should try again in modern times? Source: The Fact Site
Linking up with a bunch of fantastic peeps from the blogosphere who host Wordless Wednesday – Betty, Steve, image-in-ing, Keith, Senior Salon, Esme Salon, CatSynth, and Suzana.

we should definitely try it (plus boycott).
It worked then and it will work now. Happy Wordless Wednesday, Klara. 🙂
Wonderful, Thanks for sharing
You’re most welcome. Thanks for participating. 🙂
I thought the Romans relied heavily on slaves, you wouldn’t think the working class would have as big of an impact. Very interesting!
Probably depends on where you live. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week. 🙂
I love reading historical tidbits!
I do, too. Happy Wordless Wednesday, Cathy. 🙂
Isn’t that interesting. If only you could get enough people together to try this out to see if it would work in modern times.
I’m sure it would work just as well now as it did then. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂
That is quite interesting. The rich were totally dependent on those poor folks.
It appears so. Makes sense. Happy day and rest of the week. Scritches to the pups. 🙂
I’ve already read discussions about the possibility. The Romans didn’t have industrial robots, AI, or the Internet, so such a strike might or might not work now. Alana ramblinwitham
You may be right about that. It’s still an interesting piece of history. Happy rest of the week, Alana. 🙂
Interesting tidbit, Sandee. Maybe it would work for modern times. Happy Wednesday!
It might work and it might now, but it’s an interesting slice of history. 🙂
That is very interesting. Did you enter my link for me? I went to enter it this morning and it was already there. I am sure I didn’t do it, so thank you.
I did enter it, Jackie. I always see your link the day before and when it wasn’t there I put it in. Happy Wordless Wednesday, my friend. Love and hugs. 🙂
Thank you. I scheduled it but didn’t go back to the PC after it had published until this morning.
Talk about strength in numbers and unity! It seems the working class was united in their opposition. I wonder if that would work in today’s very divided world.
It doesn’t seem to be working now, but you never know. Happy Wordless Wednesday, my friend. 🙂
Very interesting!
I thought so too. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂
Sounds more peaceful than strikes of today. Thanks for hosting. Have a nice day. XO
There doesn’t seem to be peaceful anymore. All political in nature. You have a great day and rest of the week, Ellen. Scritches to the kitties. 🙂
With all the firings from “the top” we almost have.
You’re right about that. Happy day and rest of the week. Scritches to the pups. 🙂
That was very interesting!
It is indeed. It makes sense. 🙂
How very interesting.
I thought so too. It does make perfect sense though. Scritches to Duke. 🙂
Very very interesting. Workers kept/keep the world going
Hugs cecilia
I agree with you, my friend. Love and hugs to you, Kit and all the kitties. 🙂
Normal people really should work together to take back control from the ultra rich.
I agree with you. Happy rest of the week, my friend. 🙂
Fascinating…we may need to do that again to combat the overreach happening now. I wonder if it’d work this day and age? Happy mid-week, Sandee.
The overreach has been happening for decades, not just now. Happy midweek, my friend. Scritches to Wilson. 🙂
You’re probably right, it just seems extra ‘over’ these days. 😉
How interesting!!
So many interesting facts to learn. Scritches to the pups and my best to the peeps. 🙂
Pawkisses for a Happy Day and week ahead, dear Sandee and kitties❤️🐾😽💞
Pawkisses to you, Peachy and lots of hugs to Granny. 🙂
Your WW is interesting. The pics are great, as are the explanations. But explanations are not wordless. Either way I love them. 🤣😎🙃
I’m a rule breaker. I love it when my participants are rule breakers. I don’t want to make it difficult to join my hops. Happy rest of the week. 🙂
The voice and strength of the populus’ opinion can shape the future. I agree with you Sandee. Wonderful reminder of the impact of the Roman history and law on modern society.
I agree with you, Suzette. The power of the people is huge. We just need to use that power. Love and hugs, my friend. 🙂
Yes indeed! Love and hugs back to you dear friend.
Thank you, Sandee, for the linkup opportunity and party and linking to SSPS, and ES #WW. Happy #WW.

Thank you for all you do, my friend. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week. 🙂
Lots of ‘protests’ going on this weekend on Cape Ann Ma regarding Trump’s idiocies on his policies ~ most of them, in fact ~ Hope the ‘protests’ have a major effect somewhere ~ sigh
Hugs and love to you and your family ~ xo
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Peaceful protests are good. Los Angeles is not peaceful. 🙂
Wordless Wed….you know I thought of this title and thought to myself, I think there is something new I see daily that makes me think there is something wordless each day…lol
You’re right about that. Happy Wednesday and rest of the week. Scritches to the kitties and a hug to you. 🙂
So very interesting. I have thought about this from time to time. Thanks for sharing this. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
I’ve thought about this too. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week, Patrick. 🙂
Lovely reminder of where the power truly lies, in our hands! I’d be up for a general strike to add to my other actions.
Thanks for hosting this link up! Newbie here and happy to have found you!
It does indeed. I’m happy you found us. Welcome. 🙂
Very interesting. We always learn a lot from your special posts.
It’s good to learn new things. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week. Scritches to the pups. 🙂
Who knows, sometimes what worked before will work again. I pray you and Mr. Zane have a fabulous week and please give scritches to Lil’ Bit and Squeaker from me.
Who knows, indeed. You and Mr. Sweetie have a blessed rest of the week. Love and hugs to you. 🙂
That’s very interesting. Hope you have a great rest of the week!
I thought so too. You have a great rest of the week also. 🙂
Okay, I’m in!
Me too. Happy Wednesday and rest of the week. Scritches to the kitties. 🙂
once again proof that nothing changes, over the thousands of years. it seems to me the upper class now cares nothing at all for those of us in the other category.. all of us depend on the workers who do the stuff we don’t want to do. garbage removal, CNA in nursing homes, come to mind. and here in FL anyone working outside during our summers deserves a metal. yesterdays temps were feels like 100 and yet the roofers and fence builders and plummbers and all the ones who work in the heat kept on working
I hear you, Sandra. I applaud those that keeps the world moving. Happy Thursday. A hug to you and lots of scritches to Beau. 🙂
Interesting!
Maybe there’s still something to learn from the past?
Happy Thursday, Sandee!
There is always many things to learn from the past. Happy Thursday, Veronica. 🙂
Society will always be dependent upon the working classes, they deserve more respect.
They sure do, Keith. I’m with you. 🙂
Interesting what history can tell us if we just paid attention. 🙂
You have that right, Barbara. 🙂
Probably wouldn’t hurt them a bit to do their own work for a minute. Make ’em appreciate the working class a little more (then and now). 🙂 Have a fabulous day!
You’re right about that. You have a fabulous day too, my friend. 🙂
Thank you for sharing. Be well, my dear.
You’re most welcome. Happy weekend. 🙂
