Matterhorn – Perhaps the most photographed mountain in the world, situated on the border between Switzerland and Italy. The 4478.12 meters high, pyramid shaped Matterhorn is one of the tallest and most beautiful mountains in the Alps.
Gorgeous mountain and sunset. Is that the same mountain at the beginning of movies? Paramount?
Looks like it doesn’t it?
It kind of does, Greg, but this is the Matterhorn. 🙂
It is said that the mountain drawn by Hodkinson is the Utah’s Ben Lomond Mountain, and that Peru’s Artesonraju is the mountain in the live-action emblem. Take your pick on the paramount logo, but this is really the Matterhorn. 🙂
WOW, what an amazing sight.
I love mountains. They are so majestic. 🙂
That’s a brilliant photo that sky colour is beautiful 🙂
Have a mountainoustastic WWS
😯
I agree, Steve. It’s beautiful. You have a mountainoustastic WW too, Steve. 🙂
Breathtaking photo! The sky is so pretty!
Happy WW!
I would love to see this mountain for real. Happy WW to you too. 🙂
That really is an amazing photo. We like that a lot. Sandee, you and Zane have one heck of a day.
I’ve been hooked on all the beautiful places in the world of late. This is just one of them. You have a great day, Marg. 🙂
So gorgeous! Mother Nature is such a great artist 🙂
Mother Nature is the very best artist of all. 🙂
There are indeed no words that seem adequate to describe this image.
God’s handiwork. Breathtakingly beautiful. 🙂
Gorgeous photo!
I agree, my friend. 🙂
This is amazing. I could use a vacation…maybe there…but, well, I have a minion to raise. 😉
I wish I could grant you a stress free week, but alas I can’t. Big healing hugs for all. 🙂
WOW! That’s so pretty it gave me goosebumps!
These are great goosebumps to get. 🙂
My goodness, what a difference color makes! I’ve always seen photos of the Matterhorn against a blue sky, which makes it appear majestic – this makes it look sinister & somehow reminds me or Mordor (Tolkein’s evil empire).
It does look a bit sinister doesn’t it. It’s all that red. 🙂
Yep, it’s the red.
That is beautiful. Thanks for hosting, have a great day! XO
You’re welcome, Ellen. You have a great day too. xoxo 🙂
wow what a picture! Isn’t it magnificent! Have a lovely day!
You have a magnificent mountain near you too. I love Mount Shasta. You have a lovely day too, Kathe. 🙂
Are you certain that it isn’t a pyramid in Egypt?
I’m certain that this is the Matterhorn. Honest. 🙂
very intriguing!
Very intriguing indeed, Michelle. Have a blessed day my friend. 🙂
Stunning! The mountain looks like it has 2 eyes.
It is stunning, but I’m not seeing the two eyes. 🙂
Very beautiful photo.
Thanks and I had a great time visiting your cherry blossom festival in San Francisco. 🙂
Wow! Thank you for sharing.
You’re most welcome, Darla. Have a fabulous day. 🙂
Ooooo What a beautiful eye-catcher for sure, and I know just the room for it to go in!!! ~hehehe~ just kiddin’, but I really do like it and thank you so much for sharing your lovely painting! hugs & have a wonderful day! The end is near my pet… we shall ride into the sunset with Victory at our side!!!
It would be a wonderful piece of art on a wall wouldn’t it. 🙂
Oh my, sorry I thought you were doing the A2Z…. that’s okay… I like it here anyways!!! ~hehehe~
Not a problem. I’ve never done A2Z, but perhaps next year. 🙂
Gorgeous photo ~ definitely a wordless one! ~xxx
Happy Week to you,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
Well, I’m glad I put what mountain this was. It does resemble the Paramount mountain, but it’s really the Matterhorn. 🙂
I thought it was a painting, but everyone says it is a photo so I will take your word for it. Who started this Wordless Wednesday thing anyway I wonder?
It’s a photograph. If you follow the link you’ll see where I found this shot. This is the second Wordless Wednesday in my history. The first hosts quit and the new folks took it over. If you’ll click on the “Check out the new Wordless Wednesday HQ!!” it will take you to the current hosts. Many of us do our own linky and that’s what I do. I do glean their links from HQ though. 🙂
oh my that is striking and breathtaking!!!!!
I thought so too, Caren. Scritches to the boys. 🙂
Absolutely beautiful ♥
It is indeed, Amanda. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
Such a stunning picture – beautiful. When I went to Disneyland in California in the early 90’s I was very disappointed to find the Matterhorn ride closed for maintenance.
I’m sorry you were disappointed. 🙂
What a spooky cool photo. The Matterhorn looks angry here 🙂
I’ll bet it can be very unforgiving most of the time. 🙂
The Alps are beautiful, and it is like a crown jewel among them.
I agree with you, my friend. 🙂
Gorgeous! We’ve been on the Matterhorn at Disneyland! MOL!
Happy Wednesday, Sandee!
I understand that ride is no longer available either. Happy rest of the week. Scritches to the girls. 🙂
Wow…. 4478.12 meters high
I think Paramount pictures use this as their logo.
I don’t think so, but you may be right. 🙂
What an unusual photo of the Matterhorn. Mom was hoping to find out when or what time of day it was taken. Mom’s been there, and she says that it’s pretty amazing. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
Looks like either a sunset or sunrise with all that red. I’m impressed that you’ve been there. Wonderful. 🙂
That certainly is a dramatic photograph!
Yes it is, Binky. I kind of jumped off the page at me. 🙂
Beautiful scene and I love mountains – so majestic.
Me too. They are so majestic. 🙂
Sandee,
What a dramatic sky and that mountain peak…amazing! Is it an inactive volcano? That’s what I thought of at first glance. Thanks for hosting the WW fun & for the visit, dearie!
~Curious as a Cathy
A2Z iPad Art Sketch ‘V’ Victorian Lady
It is dramatic indeed. Many have climbed it too. I’m not into that kind of thing though. I don’t know anything about it’s ability to be a volcano. 🙂
Meowza! We have mountains near our house but none of them are as big as this!
Purrs & Head Bonks,
Oliver and Tribe of Five
Mountains are beautiful. I’ve seen many and have loved them all. Have a purrfect day, Oliver and the Tribe of Five. 🙂
That mountain is magnificent.
It sure is, Rhonda. 🙂
