Signs of Spring

Hubby took this picture the third week of February. The trees are already turning green.

Every spring California’s ubiquitous almond orchards present a charming display of pale pink blossoms. Tens of thousands of visitors flock to nearby cities like Modesto and Fresno to see the almond blooms at their best. As we look forward to some highly-anticipated blooms like the magnolias in San Francisco and calla lilies in Big Sur, it’s hard to choose a favorite… but you can’t beat the magic of our homegrown California almonds. OH! I’ve never seen the Calla Lilies until I clicked your link. Those are nice!!! We had magnolias in Michgan. They were very briefly in bloom but very pretty. My oldest had cherry blossoms everywhere when he was stationed in the military. Those were fantastic too!

  2. Memories of Eric and Flynn says:

The blossom looks beautiful. I have got a small magnolia but it has only just started producing tiny shoots, so no action for a while!

Gorgeous photos…..very “Springish” – we’re expecting bad storms to move through here today so hoping we don’t lose power. No Teaser Tell All today so no snacks available but we hope you visit us anyway!

    Hugs, Teddy and Mom Pam

It’s raining and gloomy here today. We so want spring to arrive and stay. Happy WW and rest of the week. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to handsome Teddy. 🙂

How pretty they are. Spring is such a wonderful time of year. I used to have a pear tree in my back yard that was beautiful in the spring with all it’s blossoms. I hated that tree the rest of the year.

It is a wonderful time of year. I love spring and fall the very best. Happy day and rest of the week, my friend. A hug to you and scritches to Gibbs. 🙂

He’s pretty good with the camera. Me not at all. You have a nice day and rest of the week, Ellen. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to the kitties. 🙂

When I was still gainfully employed at NCSU, there was a student whose extended family owned an almond orchard. It was fascinating to hear about the farm in the Modesto area.

    • Sandee says:

There are almond trees all over our area. Acres and acres. We love seeing the blossoms and drive around to enjoy them each year. Love and hugs. 🙂

  6. Xena and Lucy says:

That is beautiful. I help keep the industry in business with all the almond butter I eat! I eat it on celery every weekday morning for breakfast, and sometimes on the weekends, too.

It’s raining and gloomy here today. Lots of rain, but we need it. You’re most welcome on the hosting. Thank you for linking up. Hugs. 🙂

Orchards are beautiful when they bloom in the spring. Arkansas used to be the apple capitol of the US in the late 1800’s – early 1900’s. Now, most fruit orchards are small and more hobby homesteads rather than full blown commercial operations.

So beautiful! I love blossom in general, but I wouldn’t have thought California almonds with these trees. Stunning. It’s so heartening to see signs of spring being around the corner. I think many of us are in dire need of it after difficult times and a horribly long winter.
    xx

    • Sandee says:

These are indeed almond blossoms. There are acres and acres of almond trees here. The weather is back to winter here. It just warms up for a bit in February each year. 🙂

  9. angelswhisper2011 says:

Fantastic picture, Sandee😺We love the blossom of the trees. Can’t wait until our tree is in bloom💮Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day and Week ahead to you, Zane and the kitties too🐾😽💞

  10. The OP Pack says:

Mom is hoping to see the pretty redbuds and magnolias in bloom here, but not quite yet. We just had BIG winds and blizzard like snow. But it is warming up and the snow is melting, much to OUR chagrin.

    • Sandee says:

Some love the snow and others not at all. I know you love the snow. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week. A hug to you and lots of scritches to the precious pups. 🙂

    • Sandee says:

It sure is. We get a taste of it each February and then winter returns. It’s cold and raining today. Gloomy and winter. You and Mr. Sweetie have a blessed day and rest of the week, my friend. Love and hugs. 🙂

  11. meowmeowmans says:

Great shot by Zane of those almond trees! We love when everything starts blooming, too, though I think we’re still a few weeks off in our area. Happy Wednesday, Sandee!

    • Sandee says:

Hubby is so good to me. The trees are turning green now. They sure were beautiful for a couple of weeks though. Happy Wednesday, my friend. 🙂

Beautiful. Spring is coming for us in Tn., not here yet but there are signs. Started taking allergy pills a couple weeks ago to try and prevent things from getting out of hand. I hate that the snuffy nose and runny eyes comes with such beauty.

    • Sandee says:

Many of the almond trees are green now and the walnuts are starting to bloom. Good on getting the allergy meds started. Smart. Scritches to the kitties. ♥
