While this epic Indiana Jones movie was filmed in several locations around the world, the Holy Grail itself was hidden in the temple located at Petra, Jordon. The set took an impressive six weeks to build and they use 80 feet of hydraulics to create that iconic earthquake scene.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is a 1989 American action adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by Jeffrey Boam, based on a story by George Lucas and Menno Meyjes. It is the third installment in the Indiana Jones film series and the sequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). Harrison Ford returned in the title role, while his father is portrayed by Sean Connery. Other cast members featured include Alison Doody, Denholm Elliott, Julian Glover, River Phoenix, and John Rhys-Davies. In the film, set in 1938, Indiana searches for his father, a Holy Grail scholar, who has been kidnapped and held hostage by the Nazis while on a journey to find the Holy Grail. Source: Wikipedia

I love ancient architecture. It’s great when archeologists can find some intact. And then using them to film a movie! I well remember this one having seen the film several times over the years.
    Talk about being authentic!

I love Harrison Ford and the Indiana Jones movies I have not seen because hubby controls the TV remote.

I like the movies. And the image is quite interesting.
I’m glad that you share these kind of spaces.
Happy WW, dear Sandee! Hugs and a fine week!❤️😘

The original three movies were awesome! Hollywood just can’t seem to make anything as good as they once did. Perhaps if they’d stop filling movies with their diversify agenda and simply entertain us then they’d find their way back to good writing again. 🙂 Fabulous and interesting tidbits about this old film!

What an iconic film and location! I’ve always been fascinated by Petra, and knowing that parts of “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” were filmed there adds another layer of intrigue. Thanks for sharing these fascinating details, Sandee! Have a wonderful Wordless Wednesday and week ahead!

Well, that’s really interesting! Now I want to know the backstory of all epic films. I don’t know why I think they’re mostly filmed in the U.S. – And, I’ve been a Harrison Ford fan forever. 🙂 – Love you, Sandee. xoxo
