Our Morning View

Tule fog is a thick ground fog that settles in the San Joaquin Valley and Sacramento Valley areas of California‘s Central Valley. Tule fog forms from late fall through early spring (California’s winter season) after the first significant rainfall. The official time frame for tule fog to form is from November 1 to March 31. This phenomenon is named after the tule grass wetlands (tulares) of the Central Valley. Tule fog is the leading cause of weather-related accidents in California. Source: Wikipedia
Linking up with a bunch of fantastic peeps from the blogosphere who host Wordless Wedne Ssday – Betty, Steve, image-in-ing, Zina, Xmas Dolly, Keith, Cathy, Sara, CatSynth, Diana, and Suzana.
I guess winter weather is dangerous everywhere, but that tule fog sure is pretty. Does it always look like that across the moon or other lighted areas?
It’s pretty when you’re inside and very stressful if your driving. 🙂
I can only imagine! ~hugs~
Beautiful foggy photo. Do take care. Keep warm.
It’s mighty cold out there this morning. 🙂
It makes a very atmospheric photo. We get a lot of dense fog here. Officially it is sea mist but can be so dense we can’t see into the garden. It rolls in off the sea and up the river. It usually disperses by late morning if there is sun, but sometimes it will stay for days in the winter.
It gets that dense here too. Hubby loved this shot because of the sun and the bird in the tree. 🙂
What a nice calming photo 🙂
Have a fogtastic week and WWS 👍
It’s great if you’re inside and warm. 🙂
That is some pretty thick looking fog. I have never liked driving in it.
I hate driving in it and avoid it if I can. 🙂
What a gorgeous picture! It’s even more ethereal with a single tiny bird. The fog is fabulous and adds a sense of mystery.
The sun and the bird did it for hubby. 🙂
Beautiful and so serene.
Yes and yes as long as you’re not driving. 🙂
beautiful fog foto. hope you are not in all the bad weather that is going on. we have had a few days of ground fog and a couple of the type that floats on top of the trees, clear on the ground not in the trees.
We have lots of storms coming through and we’re on higher ground so we’re fine. Happy day, Sandra. 🙂
We get some different kinds of fog at this time of year too. That looks pretty, but hopefully it is not too dangerous for driving.
Yes there are and we get the worst kind here. It’s very dangerous when you’re driving. 🙂
Hubby takes good pics of the weather. Our Mom has trouble doing that. We all hope you are safe from the terrible floods and landslides. XOX Xena, Lucy, Chia and Riley
He takes them while he’s walking. We’re safe here. We’re on higher ground. It’s ugly weather though. 🙂
I lived on the West Coast of Florida for two years and remember constant January morning fogs – I even had some of my driving lessons in it (when I was learning) which had a few scary moments. It does lead to lovely pictures, though. Alana ramblinwitham
I’ve had some drives to work that were frightening. I’m not a fan of fog. 🙂
Terrific image; love the wee bird on the tree.
Zane was happy the bird stayed there. We love our birds. 🙂
Very pretty. Thanks for hosting. Have a great day. XO
Hubby did very well. You’re welcome and you have a great day too, Ellen. 🙂
I am a fan Robert Frost’s poem Fog:”THE fog comes on little cat feet. It sits looking over harbor and city on silent haunches and then moves on”. Maybe that is why I like fog it is so descriptive of a feline on the move.
I hope you two are staying dry sure is a lot of rain over your way
Hugs Cecilia
We’re on higher ground so not flooding as many are. The storms keep coming and no end in sight. 🙂
I experienced tule fog when I was in Monterey, CA. It’s eerie and like no other fog I’ve seen. Beautiful photo by your hubby. Happy Wednesday!
It is different indeed. Scary when you’re driving. 🙂
That is a wonderful photo!
It is indeed. Hubby love to walk in the fog and the rain. He’s a different kind of guy. 🙂
Never heard of that kind of fog before.
It’s pretty scary if you’re driving. You can look out the window and not see the house across the street. 🙂
What an eerie and evocative photo by your hubby. I definitely remember Tule fog from when I lived in California. Sandee, we’ve been thinking about you lots with all the storms out there, and hope you and your family are safe and well.
Storm after storm, but we’re safe. No flooding here, but we’ve had some frightening storms pass. 🙂
Really nice fog photo. But, yeah, I think I’d rather drive in snow than fog. Pretty, but not to drive in.
That makes two of us. Not a white out, but snow can be far easier to navigate. 🙂
WOW! Awesome fog photo!
Happy Wednesday and thanks for hosting, Sandee!
It’s beautiful when you’re inside. Happy Wordless Wednesday, Veronica. 🙂
Cold, but absolutely beautiful. Like a painted image!
Happy WW, dear Sandee! Thank you of the Blog Hop and a fine week ahead!😘❤️
It’s ever so quiet when the fog rolls in too. Happy Wordless Wednesday, Suzana. 🙂
What a beautiful and evocative image, Sandee! Bravo to your hubby.
Hubby did great taking this photograph. Happy Wednesday. 🙂
The fog makes for a beautiful photo! Happy Wednesday!
It sure does, but it’s awful to drive in. Happy Wednesday. 🙂
Beautiful and creative Fog photo ~ Xo
Lots of hugs and love to you from me and Ziggy ~ Xos
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Hubby did very well. Love and hugs to you and Ziggy. 🙂
Love Zane’s photo! Wow! I remember the tules when cruising along the American river in a rented houseboat! Have a great day!
It gets really thick here. You have a great day too, Kathe. Love and hugs all around. 🙂
Nice! I like foggy weather! Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday! <3
I don’t mind it either if I don’t have to drive. 🙂
Nicely captured image.
Zane isn’t a pro like you, but he did well. 🙂
Such a beautiful view. Very lovely.
Hope you’re safe in your area, Patrick. The bay area has been hit very hard. 🙂
It was a wonderful moment. I love you my Only.
Your loving husband.
Thank you for giving me a Wordless Wednesday post. I love you.
Your loving wife. 🙂
What a great pic! We get inversions here and they look sort of spooky but it’s just trapped, unmoving air – horrible air quality – that settles in and makes for gray days.
They can make for gray weeks and months. Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Love and hugs. 🙂
Silly me, i thought that most of the accidents were from peeps who couldn’t drive correctly.
Those are the ones that don’t know how to drive in the fog. 🙂
Wow…such a beautiful shot!!!
It is indeed. It’s even better when you don’t have to go anywhere. 🙂
Our fog doesn’t get such a fancy name, but it can be thick enough to shut down highways.
I hope you and Mr. Zane are having a fabulous week, hugs!
Same here. So many accidents when the fog is heavy. You have a fabulous week too, my friend. 🙂
Looks serene and peaceful. Thank you for your comment on our page and on other pages we’ve seen about our baby, Angel. We’re glad you and Zane were able to meet her. Our hearts are shattered and we miss her so much.
Big healing hugs to you all. 🙂
Wow! I love the fog in winter. We get valley fog here in the winter and when the river is open and if it is really cold, the fog leaves frost on the tress. Thanks for sharing the stunning photo! Barb
If we’re inside we’re okay, but traveling in fog is not something we enjoy. Love and hugs all around and a smooch to Marv. 🙂
This looks so much like our fog here. It is dense, zero visibility and sometimes stays beyond noon. In fact the last 10 days thats how it’s been. Fortunately we have the sun peeping out and warming our souls the last two days, though not before mid morning.
It’s been freezing here. Very cold after many years in New Delhi capital region.
Just the kind of winters we experienced about 15-20 years ago.
Have a beautiful week, stay warm dear Sandee and do get some chicken soup for the soul.
Big hugs and big love sweetheart.
xoxox
Some years back the fog would remain for up to two months and never lift. Had to travel up about the fog line to get some sun. Love and hugs, sweet Natasha. 🙂
A moody view best observed from indoors methinks!
You’re right about that, Keith. Happy rest of the week. 🙂
FINALLY got my links correct again. I’m BACK at your Wordless Wednesday
Welcome to Wordless Wednesday. Scritches to Pixie. 🙂
This is a very beautiful photo. It looks like sky is calm and peaceful…
Have a great day!
It is beautiful indeed. Happy day and weekend. 🙂
Fog is awesome, but only if mew’re watching it while sat in the safety of your own home! MOL
Happy Friyay Sandee and thank mew for hosting, we send mew many happies for the weekend!
I agree with you. Happy day and weekend. Hugs and love all around. 🙂
all ok?
All is well. Did you quite posting? I’m not blogging Thursday through Sundays. 🙂
That fog is beautiful. We have banks of low level clouds that make you feel like you’re in fog. They usually form over oceans or large bodies of water (our lake here is huge) and you drive right through them, especially on the Long Bridge that takes you into town. I don’t know if they have aname though.
If we’re inside we don’t mind the fog. Driving in it is another story. Happy weekend. 🙂
With cool days and warm days, we have had our share of foggy mornings. Today, however, is yucky, cloudy, snowy, and cold.
It’s raining here again and will be all weekend. 🙂
Isn’t that beautiful, and interesting to learn about that fog! You’ve inspired me to try to get out my camera a bit more and maybe start doing WW posts. They are so simple, and I have so many potential subjects. 🙂
You’re most welcome to do Wordless Wednesday. You know I’ve missed you very much. 🙂
We’ve had a lot of foggy early mornings lately. I don’t like to drive in it.
I hate driving in the fog. It’s scary. 🙂
Very nostalgic view <3
Very, Caz. 🙂
Beautiful photo, good weekend. I send a kiss.
Good weekend to you too. 🙂
