Wednesdays Question

question It’s Wednesday so that means it’s question time. It’s time to ponder and then answer just one question. Okay, you can add all you want as a reason for your answer too. We’d all like that.

Here’s this weeks question: If you had to name a smell that always makes you nostalgic, what would it be?

Pumpkin pies baking in the oven. It always, always reminds me of my mother. Her favorite pie and my favorite pie. I sure wish I could walk into her kitchen while she was baking pumpkin pies. I miss you mom.

Hi Sandee, when I was working in the city, the smell of frying salted fish reminds me of home back in my hometown. I felt very homesick whenever I smelt this smell.

I have so many…Christine's above is a big one for me too, since I used to lifeguard (for about 4 yrs), I taught swimming and was also on the swim team. Also, since age 8 on, my summers all were spent at the pool (but an outdoor pool)

    Freshly cut grass.

    Bacon.

    Baking bread

Bonfires…that is a huge one. Reminds me of one of my first loves.

Oh geeze, I could go on and on! lol

Easter bread, my mother baking Easter bread. She would take it out of the oven, what a beautiful smell and then she would cut a big piece with butter for me. I was in heaven.
Today she is making the Easter bread in heaven.
Have a beautiful Wednesday Sandee. See ya.

My answer is close to yours. The smell of Thanksgiving turkey will always remind me of my mom and all the great Thanksgiving dinners we had. I miss my mom too. She was an unconditional loving mother.

There are so many. Around this time of year there is a certain Fall smell, the grass, the ozone, whatever that always tells me it is FOOTBALL SEASON.

there is a place called Granpa's Cheese Barn in ashland county here in ohio the have fresh baked pies, every time I got a slice of it I would always think of my Grandma Helen Hirt's Pies.

Roast pork always makes me think of Christmas time because that was, and still is, our tradition. Thankfully, I still have my parents, but I do get nostalgic thinking about the relatives we have lost over the years. On the plus side, our family is growing and the traditions are being carried over to a new generation every year.

MotherDear's sauce…. Hey, it's Prince Spaghetti Day and there will be no pasta in my world today. bugger to that!

Shoot, what am I talking? It can be just the beginning aromas of the sauteed garlic and onions and Italin sausage baking… mmmm….

    Have a lovely day! xoxo

The smell of lilac always reminds me of carefree days of spring when I was a kid. Not sure why. Gardenia reminds me of trips to Hawaii which takes me back to happy times there too.

Happy Wednesday Sandee! Scritches to Little Bit!

When I smell dump trucks, it reminds me of walking the streets (not avenues) of New York City. It's strange. It's a pungent smell but it takes me back and I like it.

Fresh baked bread. There used to be a commercial bakery a couple of miles from our house in Tulsa. When you drove by there at night and they were baking fresh bread for morning delivery, it would just melt your soul. I used to drive by there just for the aroma.

Normally, I read your question and have an answer, but today I have nothing. I am sure there are smells that remind me of something, but I can't think of any of them right now.

It's hard to pick just one… there was a certain aroma to my Grandmother's house (before it was destroyed by druggies). Pumpkin pie = Thanksgiving and Pine tree = Christmas. And I think if I smelled Debbie Gibson's Electric Youth perfume right now, I'd be transported back to 1996!!!
