It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian of Brian’s Home. He wants us to post what we’re thankful for.
I think it’s a good thing to do each week.
Focus on the positive things in our lives.
Make sure you link up to the Blog Hop at Brian’s Home and get the code to put on your blog. Then visit all the participants.
Our trip to Village West Yacht Club was fun. It was a bit of work for us as we were the event coordinators. That means we make sure that everyone knows what to do, what’s being offered and whatever events that are planned.
The two top pictures are the fleet from two different angles. We had a total of 13 boats that enjoyed the weekend. Every single person came even though there were strong winds both Friday and Saturday.
The bottom left picture is a shot of the sunset from our helm. Nothing like a sunset on the water. The bottom right picture is our runabout. We towed it to the event so we could ferry folks from the yacht club dock to the marina guest dock for breakfast and or lunch on Saturday. If you don’t have some kind of transportation it’s 8 tenths of a mile in each direction. Some folks don’t care for that kind of a walk.
This is what we passed heading home Sunday morning. There are a lot of ships that go up and down the San Joaquin River. And there is our runabout being towed home.
What are you thankful for today?
How exciting going fur a boat ride!
Loves and licky kisses

You can come with us Princess Leah. You’d make a great boat dog. That’s what we call pups that like boating. 🙂
Thanks for the boat ride. I enjoyed that. Eight tenths of a mile isn’t too terribly far but if it’s extra warm and humid it could feel more like eight miles.
I wish we could take you out for a cruise. You’d like it I’m sure. 🙂
We are thankful that you get to enjoy your boat and boating so much. It’s wonderful to be able to do what you love.
Yes it is. We spent so many years working and now it’s time to enjoy the time we have left doing what we love. 🙂
Looks like a very nice time! 🙂
It was indeed. We love our yacht club weekend. 🙂
What fun to go past that big ship. Sounds like you had a great trip. Too cute the little runabout bringing up the rear. Sandee, you and Zane have a super Thursday.
That’s the easiest way to get it from point A to point B. Long ago I would drive the little boat and hubby would take the big boat to places, but we missed our being together so we decided to rig it to tow. I was driving the boat when the freighter past us. Hubby was taking the video. 🙂
Loved your video, loved the sounds. Miss our boating days. Good thankful post. I had to smile at your runabout being towed… looked like it was enjoying the free ride. Call me crazy but I’d have to give the runabout a name, maybe it already has one 🙂
Our runabout does have a name. It’s Risskay. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
Once a week, The Hubby and I drive into Grosse Pointe, which is on Lake St. Clair just where it turns into the Detroit River. We watch the pleasure boats, and the fishing people, and the tankers and huge ships that stay ‘way out in the channel. The Clinton River winds its way through our city, Mount Clemens, and so I see lakes and rivers every day. I am lucky!
Yes you are lucky to do this once a week. We so enjoy anything that’s on or near the water and we sure love our boats. 🙂
Sounds like a fun, fun time and we sure enjoyed the video! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Sometimes the video gives a clearer picture of our kind of boating. 🙂
Wow! Nice ride and glad you had an enjoyable trip! Happy Thursday! 🙂
It was uneventful and those are the very best kind. Happy Thursday to you too, Eugenia. 🙂
Thanks for taking me on a boat ride Sandee. We see many large ships, ocean ships and great Lake freighters as they pass by Amherstburg. See ya.
Cruisin Paul
They are fun to watch going up or down river. Have a great day. 🙂
My peep remembers being on a sailboat in New London, CT where the Navy submarines are. A sub had to made adjustments because sailboats have the right of way..
Sailboats do have the right of way most of the time. Not always, but most of the time. 🙂
We are thankful that wonderful people like you get to enjoy the waterways. Happy summer sailing to you both.
We are happy we can. There are a lot of folks that are boaters. We’re proud to be in that mix. 🙂
We had a wonderful time because we were together with each other.
I love you. Your loving Husband.
I agree it was wonderful because we were together. Thank you for all you do to make these events fun. I love you too. ♥
How fun! I bet you were the “bestest” event/ weekend coordinators! Happy boating this summer 🙂
We have a lot of great event/weekend cruise coordinators. It’s fun to put together a cruise. 🙂
Oooo that’s fab, I love seeing your photos to get a feel for your boating events. Out of curiosity, is that river pronounced the same way as the actor (ie. Joaquin as ‘whack-in’?) xx
Yes, it’s pronounced the very same way. You can travel this body of water from downtown Stockton all the way to the bay of San Francisco. We’ve done that more than once. 🙂
I can see why you enjoy boating so much with images like those! Beautiful.
Boating is our passion. It’s a wonderful way to spend time together. 🙂
Plus being on the water is so relaxing. 🚣🏼♀️
What a lovely way to spend the weekend. 🙂 You are so right! There’s something special about sunsets on the water. I am thankful that we finally have some decent weather! (Although, it rained yet again, this morning. Thankful that it has stopped, now. )
We looked at RVs when we first retired and just never could get our arms around all the road time. We went to look at boats and we bought one in a week. It was meant to be. Hope your decent weather holds. 🙂
Beautiful sunset and great video. Bet you had a terrific day. Hugs, Janet
We had a terrific three nights and four days there. A good time had by all. 🙂
Sandee, I am thankful that you are sharing stories about your boating life. WOW….I love how you have ‘gatherings’.
That is one big ship with lots of contraptions on it.
The video was such fun…I could almost feel the breeze in my bangs.
Hugs Cecilia
Once a month we get together to enjoy a weekend. It’s a good thing. Hugs back. 🙂
PS a gorgeous sunset!!
Yes it was and we had three nights of those. Fun place to visit. 🙂
I love watching boats pass by, as I am landlocked I’m glad you shared one with us – what a huge boat that was!
We see these out and about all the time. Sometimes several in one day. We always say freighter alert when we see one coming. 🙂
I could listen to the sound of that water all day (sigh), your boat looked so cute being towed lol……..sweet of you both to spare people the walk by ferrying them. The sunset photo was beautiful! Looks like it was a huge success! I wanna go! xoxoxo
Me too. I also love it when it rains and the gentle rocking of the boat is good too. I wish you could have been with us. 🙂
Nice! I’m glad you saw such a good turnout. Be well!
It was a good turnout and everyone seemed to have a great time. That’s the important part. 🙂
Sandee,
When we were first married, we spent some time on DH’s brother’s ski boat. That was fun. It was rather peaceful but I didn’t really enjoy being in the water. It made me nervous. I wasn’t very good at skiing, either. I do like sitting by the water, though. It’s very calming and relaxing. Speaking of which our first vacation to Maine in 1989, our hotel room was right on a wharf with the water beneath it and we could hear the waves wash under us. Wow, that so soothing and helped me to drift fast to sleep each night. 🙂
Boating isn’t for everyone. I’ve been on boats since my early adult life. Love being on the water. Love being on the ocean in a hotel room too. Great sleeping. 🙂
wowee! Such a gorgeous sunset- and your boat is gorgeous too! Have a wonderful day!
Our boat is perfect for us. So is the runabout. You have a wonderful day too. 🙂
Fun on the water….what a wonderful thing to be thankful for!
We would rather be on our boat out and about instead of doing a million other things. 🙂
It looks lovely. I am glad you had a great time.
We did have a great time. Lots of work putting it together, but it was fun. 🙂
Nice video! I’m sure people were thankful for the ferry, and not having to walk!
Wishing you more wonderful days on the water! <3
We only had one couple walk to breakfast, but they wanted a ride back when they were done. 🙂
It makes me smile when i think of you and Mr. Zane enjoying your boating!
We love it so, my friend. 🙂
Nice video, I felt like I was on the water with you. Have a great day! Xo
Sometimes when we’re on our boat for days we come home and can still feel like we’re on the water. It’s a fun thing. 🙂
Wow, that was a big ship that you passed! I love seeing the sunset on the water. Thank you!
Yes it was and they are all over the place. The closer you get to San Francisco the more you see. 🙂
Lovely – thanks for that peek into your boating life. Must be lovely to get out onto the water whenever you want to. I’m afraid that won’t happen for me until I have enough money to buy a massive yacht with full crew😂 I have no water skills or knowledge whatsoever and would probably have collided with that ship! I am thankful for my good health and the sense not to try and drive a boat.
Boats have brakes, but not in the standard way like a care. It’s called reverse. I can drive the boat, but I don’t like the close in work. It’s such fun. 🙂
What am I thankful for today??? This post with those photos and that video! Holy crow! The event coordinators too?! Criminey. How fun and exciting was this? I know it came with a lot, A LOT of hard work but I bet it is soooo worth it. – Hey, I looked up that ship, Malto Hope. I just wanted to see what it was hauling and there are websites that track those ships. I had no idea! It doesn’t say what it hauls but it tells you where it’s from – Panama – all of the ship stats AND the location, which is kinda’ weird for the general public to have that info. But SOOOOO cool! Yay for you guys!! I hope you document all of your adventures. 🙂 And here’s to a million more ahead!
I didn’t know you could track ships either. I learned something new today. Way cool. We do love our boating. 🙂
Yep. If you look up that boat tracking vessel sites will come up. It is pretty cool. 🙂
That looks so fun! I miss being out on the water, even though we only had a fishing boat that we took for day trips on rivers and lakes. There is something so relaxing about the water.
Yes we find it ever so relaxing too. We are happy we chose this venue for our entertainment. 🙂
I’d be thankful to have such a lovely day to cruise on (winds aside).
It was a perfect day when we came home. It was windy for three days prior. I mean really windy. 🙂
