Thankful Thursday

It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Angel Brian of Brian’s Home Blog. He wants us to post what we’re thankful for.

I think it’s a good thing to do each week. Focus on the positive things in our lives.

Make sure you link up to the Blog Hop at Brian’s Home and get the code to put on your blog. Then visit all the participants.

The new owners taking their new boat to Discovery Bay. Goodbye Anewatee.

Today I’m thankful that we no longer have boats. We decided that between Zane’s health scare and having two kitties it was time to let the boats go. We sold the 185 Sea Ray bowrider in June and yesterday the sale of the 340 Sea Ray Sundancer. We’ve canceled all insurance and other places related to boat expenses. We are thrilled beyond words. We’ve had 20.5 years of wonderful adventures on our boats. All over the California Delta, the San Francisco bay and under the Golden Gate and out to sea.

This new chapter is all about home and being with our kitties. We had no intention of putting our kitties in lockup at the vets office so we can go boating. Just wasn’t going to happen.

Sometimes life changes, priorities change ~ welcome to your new world! May it be full of love, laughter (which I’m sure the two furry ones will provide daily) … good health and happy times for all of you! ENJOY!

Things change a lot for we mere humans as the time goes by. My husband has flown his plane for over 50 years but the time is coming to sell it to someone else who will love it like he does…..we miss those things for a while but when we have time to pursue OTHER things – we discover new roads and new fun! Happy “boat-less” days ahead!!

    Hugs, Pam (and Teddy too)

I hear you. It’s doing what you love until it’s time to let it go. We have let the boats go and we’re happy about that. Love and hugs to you and Teddy. 🙂

At different stages we find different things that bring us joy. Some things stay with us forever and some for only a while.

    • Sandee says:

Boating was getting harder and harder to do. The loading and unloading and working the boat. The lines and tying up and untying. Harder and harder. Hugs to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. 🙂

  4. My GBGV Life says:

Wow! That is a big change but it sounds like you are ready for it. We have wondered why we haven’t heard about boating this year. A new chapter is a good thing as long as it is what you want. It sounds like you and the kitties have a pretty good thing going.

    • Sandee says:

We never do knee jerk decisions so this one as been stewing for many months. We knew it was time. We are going to be here for our kitties all the time. No boarding. 🙂

awww The selling of your boats must be bittersweet. So many great adventures over the years, and I remember you describing some of them. You are right though about the kitties not understanding where y’all would be and wouldn’t like being boarded at all.
Wishing you new memories to make now. <3

WOW…………..ZANE AND SANDEE I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU ENJOYED THEM BUT I ALSO KNOW HOW MUCH WORK IS REQUIRED. II expect the BOSS ladies will be loving all the extra dough for treats and pampering. Congrats on years of fun in the sun on them and now on the years of fun the babies will give you that can be enjoyed in your pjs
    Hugs Cecilia

    • Sandee says:

We have no regrets. It was time to let them go and start a new chapter in our lives. Now it’s all about home and our babies. Hugs and love, my friend. 🙂

You are such good pet parents. I am glad you are happy with the decision to part with your boats. Cats are the best. 🙂 XO

You have no idea how thrilled I have been over the years to know how much you love boating and what joy it brought you. I’ve been wondering if you were going to turn your kitties into sailors as some people do, but I am thrilled you’ve chosen the time and place to make this decision for yourselves, not waiting for something to make the decision for you, as I’ve known to happen.

Enjoy your home, your cats, your life!

  10. The OP Pack says:

Making changes in life is what makes it happy and fun. You have lots of memories of your time out on the boat, and now you can make new ones at home with each other and the sweet kittiesl

Over the years I’ve had to let things I love to do go…horseback riding, tennis, and finally, my little pontoon.I don’t know if I miss riding or boating more. But it was time. May you enjoy this new phase of your life and live it with gusto!

    • Sandee says:

We’re most happy with our new chapter. It’s all about home, us and our precious kitties. Scritches to all the kitties and a big hug to you. 🙂

  12. Dakota/Caren/Cody says:

At first I was sad when I started reading this, but then…….when I read your amazing attitude………I have to agree! I think your decision is just PAWTASTIC!!!!!!! Love your “attitude of gratitude!!” xoxo

    • Sandee says:

Hubby and I are very happy about this decision. It’s time. We are all about being here for our kitties. Love and hugs, Caren. Scritches to the boys. 🙂

      • mjgolch says:

Sandee, when I found out how bad I was getting ripped off by those crooks at Alliant Credit Union. I refused to pay them for the RV I financed 103,000 paid $22,000 total in monthly payments and owed 124,500. They were chargeing me interest on a daily basis yeh it was “low” 5.45% but it was still loan sharking.and i just could not afford to run out of money before i ran out of month any more. so they finally got the hint that they were not going to get a penny more out of me,and repoed the RV.

  13. LOULOU says:

HURRAH HURRAH for you two. And yes, kitties in the house are so much more fun!!! Plus they don’t take quite the upkeep of a boat, but you’ve had a good run. Time for new things….

    • Sandee says:

We are enjoying our babies and don’t want to be away from them at all. Our usual boating kept us away from home about a third of the time. That’s a lot of boarding that we aren’t going to do. 🙂

  14. mjgolch says:

Sandee,I doubt if they would get use to being on the boats.I agree about not locking the cat’s up at the vets.
thank God my next door neighbors are willing to take care of screwball if i am gone more that a day.

  15. sami veloso says:

Enjoy your new “boatless” life, I’m sure you will enjoy your days doing other things. Enjoy the kitties too.
I miss mine a lot, but we are at the stage of preparing for retirement and lots of travel hopefully, so can’t take on pet now and then have to leave them with carers.

  16. Alana Mautone says:

Things change. Our family situation, our health, our interests. Different seasons, different reasons. Enjoy your kitties! Alana ramblinwitham

  17. meowmeowmans says:

We love that you and Zane have all those wonderful memories of your boating days, and now you are making wonderful new memories at home with Squeaker and Lil Bit. Hugs to you all!

    • Sandee says:

We do have friends that have already invited us. I don’t think it’s in the cards though. We don’t want to be away from the kitties that long and that would be a long day. Happy week, my friend. Hugs. 🙂
