Thankful Thursday

It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Angel Brian of Brian’s Home Blog. He wants us to post what we’re thankful for.

I think it’s a good thing to do each week. Focus on the positive things in our lives.

A post from Hubby Zane:

During the first week of February I had blood in my urine. I upped water intake to three quarts a day, as the doctor told me to do last annual exam. In a couple of days the bleeding stopped, but Sandee and I believed I had a chronic UTI.

My blood pressure started rising so I made a Doctor’s appointment. Sure enough I had a urinary tract infection and was sent for a blood test which revealed reduced kidney function. On Friday, March 8, Doctor called and told me to have another blood test on Monday.

Monday afternoon at 5:15PM, Doctor called and told me to go to ER as the kidney function continued to decline, which led to two days inpatient hospitalization.

The root problem is BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) where urine cannot be released, ultimately causing kidney failure if not corrected.

Fortunately the problem has been identified. I am currently on a Foly Catheter and meds to “relax” the prostate. The catheter will be removed on Wednesday, March 20 and a determination will be made whether the meds are enough or if surgery is indicated. So a treatment plan is in place.

As a side note, the attached picture is what happened with Squeaker after I returned from the hospital. Thank God for modern medicine and small kitties.

Cat Daddy Zane

Our Thankful: Zane went six hours without a catheter. The catheter is back in and will remain until the doctor does a scope (April 18) to see what’s going on. Zane’s lab work is almost back to normal and that’s saying a lot. He was in kidney failure. Surgery may/probably will be in the future.

Squeaker’s care and comfort = healing powers. We’ll hang in with you, and y’all hang in as well until “next testing time”, a long/hard wait for sure, but with all the purrs/prayers/paws together that will come forth for you both we’re sure all is going to be fine. Sandee – Zane: we all care and send our love wrapped up in big hugs of hope, Ann & June

Very scary. Glad to know that it’s been discovered and they are working on a fix for the problem. Looks like Dr. Squeeker is also on the job taking care of the patient.
    Sending prayers and healing thoughts.

These surprised the body gives us are so very scary! No one expects these things to happen to them, but Mom has learned, anything can happen to anyone. Thankfully it was caught earlier rather than later. We sure hope you don’t need surgery, but the main thing is you have a treatment plan and hopefully doctors you can trust. Take care and we are sending loads of positive thoughts your way along with a load of our special GBGV hugs. We all love to hug.

    Zane and Sandee,
GBGV’s first sentence said it perfectly. Gracious Zane what a scare out of no where. We really have to be body aware…and act quickly. I am so thankful for excellent doctors who are proactive. Bryan and I send you our healing prayers for your body to heal itself.
Squeaker should probably get a vest that reads Therapy Cat…I know her purring vibrated all thru your body

Ms. Sandee and Mr. Zane, I’m praying this turns out to just be a health blip and treatment or minor surgery (although no surgery is minor when it’s YOU!) will correct it in time to have you sailing this summer.

Hugs to both of you and scritches to Lil’ Bit and Squeakers.
