Hubbies Surgery

Hubby had his hernia surgery yesterday and all went well. He’s now recuperating. I’m doing all I can to make sure he’s comfortable and has everything he needs. I’m even cooking for him and all of you that know me well know that I’m not the cook around here. Well I am for now. He’s not allowed to lift anything.

We have been working getting things done so we would be ready for the surgery. Gassing up the vehicles, putting screens on the boat because it will be hot when we can boat again (that requires removing the isinglass first). Getting all the laundry done, grass mowed, chores done and all the things that need doing so we could focus on hubby getting well and back on his feet.

For those of you that know my husband you know that’s he’s not one to sit around doing nothing and that’s what he’s supposed to do for the first two weeks. I have my hands full.

He gave me my anniversary card on Saturday because he was worried that he wouldn’t wake up from the surgery. This is his first surgery. He was more than worried. Bless his heart.

How is your day going?

We sent prayers that hubby are feeling better soon. When our dad had his knee surgery mom did the cooking too. Strangely enough, he was quickly back on his feet and took over the cooking. Hmmm wonder why 😕

  2. Marg says:

So glad to hear that the surgery went. Just remind Zane how he felt about not waking up after the surgery and that he is in as much danger if he doesn't behave himself during his healing. Good luck Sandee and the best to the two of you. Happy Anniversary.

So happy this is behind him. Bless his heart. And almost behind you. 😉

As I recall, Al had 3 days of bed/couch rest after his double hernia mesh repair surgery and then he went back to work… strictly light duty – no heavy of any kind, of course. But he could talk to customers and generally help out around the shop.

… and play on the computer.

… and not be jumping out of his skull from boredom.

    Bless his heart.

big hugs to you both xoxo

I'm very happy to see that Zane is up and out of the hospital. He loves you so much that he wanted to make sure that you got his anniversary card because he wasn't sure if he would wake up. LOve him. I thought the same way when I went into surgery with my brain operation. It's a scary situation. You take care of your husband. ( Zane, take it for all its worth. You may never have another chance. Ha,ha,ha. LOL )
Have a wonderful Tuesday Sandee & Zane. See ya.

    Cruisin Paul

PS: Sorry Sandee, I was only joking about taking advantage of you. I & Zane would never do that. See ya.

His first surgery ever! Wow in today's world that is something. I hope he has a speedy recovery and that you can keep him resting for the next 2 weeks. You definitely have your hands full there 🙂 Hugs and good thoughts coming your way!

  6. Jan says:

Surgery can be scary but just be glad we live in a time when doctors don't use leeches and drills. Happy anniversary and may your "cook" have a speedy recovery.

Good to hear your hubby is home and better from surgery. Every surgery is fearful and especially a first one. How blessed he has not to under go any before this! I am sure you will take good care of him <3 My hubby had surgery yesterday too, more diagnostic but the anesthesia must of been stronger this time.
    🙂 healing hugs!!

  8. Alec says:

Good for him for getting the surgery. I've known a few friends who have or have had hernias that they won't get corrected. Not smart!

    • Comedy Plus says:

I know a few that won't have surgery either. Some don't look pretty either. Some are too heavy and need to lose 100 pounds or more before the doctor will even consider surgery. 🙂

  9. stevebethere says:

Good to read that his surgery went OK and he's on the road to recovery just think you will only have to cook for a couple of weeks heheh!

All my best to hubby Sandee :-h

I'll let you know if Roche is needed. I would have been nice for him to have been here yesterday so I would have had some company in the visitors lounge. I was there for hours and hours. 🙂

Bless his heart indeed- and yours also! Being prepared and checking all the things to do on a list does make recovery much better- no stewing over undone tasks! Smart very smart! Have fun in the kitchen ( chuckle) and take care of your self too! Big gentle hugs!

  11. BeadedTail says:

Glad to hear surgery went well and he's on the mend now. It was very smart to get so much in order before his surgery so he can relax and heal up instead of worrying about this or that needing to be done. As a fellow non-cook, good luck with the cooking! I cooked one meal last week and I'm still stressed over it! The things we do for love huh? 🙂 Happy Anniversary to both of you! Sending purrs and prayers for a smooth recovery for Zane!

    • Comedy Plus says:

Yep, I just finished the last load of laundry for the day, but tomorrow there will be another load. Must make sure he has clean clothing, towels and bedding. Thanks for the kind words and the purrs and prayers. 🙂

I'm glad everything went well with the surgery. Keeping your man down afterwards .. oh my gosh, that's a chore. I feel for you. Hoping you will manhandle your man and we'll all hear he's fine.

  13. (not necessarily your) Uncle Skip, says:

Tell him, from me, that I empathize and remember that the day after the day after surgery was the worst.
    That would be tomorrow.
Remembering not to lift anything was the most difficult.
Having peace and quiet was the most enjoyable, but that's because I like reading.

    • Comedy Plus says:

I told him and I'm sure you're right. The block they gave him is just wearing off. He knows about lifting. I know that will be the most difficult. He likes reading too. 🙂

  14. Kismet says:

I don't blame him. Once the medical profession gets its clutches into you, anything can happen. Get better, Zane, and don't drive Sandee inzane.

    • Comedy Plus says:

Isinglass is a generic name for your boats clear plastic windows. Most often, isinglass is a part of your canvas “camper top” enclosure which can be zipped or snapped to your boats existing bimini top, t-top or windshield.

  15. Traveling Bells says:

I so remember my wee umbilical hernia repair two years ago. Soo boring not being able to do much, but at least is is over and Zane will be gooder than new in no time. Give him a gentle hug from me, and save one for yourself. you will need it, trying to keep him from going outta his mind!

    Love ya both, honey…

    • Comedy Plus says:

We took a slow walk to the mailbox this morning and now he's taking a nap. It's all good, but he's starting to feel a bit of pain. The block has worn off.

Love you both too honey. 🙂

  16. Angel Stew & Devil's Brew says:

Oh, I'm SO happy everything went well! And what a relief to be able to get everything done ahead of his surgery. I don't envy you the task of keeping him off of his feet though. I know how that goes. And as for cooking, two words – Carry out! 😀 – Great news. Sending lots of prayers your way. <3

    • Comedy Plus says:

He'll be tough to keep still for two weeks after he starts feeling better in a few days. Carry out isn't going to work. He won't like that. Bugger.

      Thanks for the prayers. 🙂

  17. Ann says:

Glad to hear the surgery went well. It sounds like the recuperating is going to be tougher than the surgery itself. That's hard for someone who isn't used to sitting still.
There was a guy in the store this afternoon getting a rotisserie chicken and some potato salad. He told me his wife wasn't feeling well so he was in charge of dinner today. 🙂

  18. Allison says:

Good to hear your husband is recovering from surgery! I've had a few and will admit that I don't like them.

After one of my surgeries, I was up and about within a few days. The other took a long time and I kind of got used to getting to sit around.

You have a very thoughtful husband, giving you a card ahead of time. I imagine it'll be hard to keep him sedentary.

    Happy Anniversary!

  19. Nancy Chan says:

Good to hear that your hubby's surgery went well and he is now recuperating. I too worried for my first surgery that I wouldn't wake up. Not an easy job to keep an active person still and not do anything. I know because I am one active person. Happy Anniversary to you both!

  20. Jenny Evans says:

Sitting around doing nothing is hard! (I know, I was on bedrest for 3 weeks during my last pregnancy, and I couldn't even cheat because I was in the hospital and they would've caught me.) Glad everything went well, especially since he was so worried. Things can always go wrong even during the most minor surgeries so a good outcome is always a blessing!

  21. Binky says:

Well it's good that all went well. I suspect it may be more trouble to keep your husband from doing things than it will be doing things for him.

  22. Debbie Roberts - Debs Random Writings says:

Hi Sandee (got it right this time!), your husband sounds like my Mum. When she had her hysterectomy (many years ago, when the op was bigger than it is now) we used to put her in the reclining chair and recline it. She didn't have the strength in her abdomen to get out, so it was perfect for ensuring she stayed out of trouble!

I hope your husband recovers quickly and doesn't cause you too much of a headache. Love the fact he gave you your card early, I'd have probably done the same.

    xx

    • Comedy Plus says:

Hi Debbie – He's being good so far, but he's still pretty slow moving. It's when he starts feeling better than I fear he'll think he's well.

Love what we did with your mum. That will keep her out of mischief. 🙂

  23. Jim says:

Get Well Fast!!! I take it they didn't cut you big, only Laparoscopic. It was real good that a lot of the HH chores were taken care of ahead of time. Word is, don't overdo it. My friend drove before his week was up, let alone the doctor's two weeks. He will be ninety this summer.
I have an abdominal hernia, have had it for ages. Most times they don't do anything with it.
We had isinglass windows in the doors of our old wood stove.
