WordPress is Amazing

I’ve been on WordPress less than a week and I can’t tell you how much I love WordPress. Things are so much easier to do here than on blogger. Here’s a few examples:

When I first moved over here I had a few issues. It was just getting used to the new way of doing things. The one thing I wanted to do was have all my awards on my menu bar. They just didn’t look right after I moved here, so I searched for creating a gallery. Here’s what I found: How to Create an Image Gallery in WordPress.

When I set up all these awards in blogger I did them one at a time after I resized each one of them. On WordPress you don’t have to do that. I saved all my awards on my desktop and then highlighted them and dumped them into my gallery, after choosing the thumbnail size. They started uploading until they were done. All 110 at the same time. I hit publish and I was done. I can do in a few minutes what took me hours in Blogger to do.

The commenting system is hands down miles ahead of Blogger commenting system.

The drag and drop photographs are amazing. It will fit into your post the right way without you having to resize. Just grab a corner and it will resize while maintaining proportions. So easy.

Word Press Support is fantastic.

There are plugins for tons of cool stuff.

I use Mr. Linky’s Magical Widgets. There is a plugin for that and I can set up my links from the bottom of my post. Don’t even have to visit Mr. Linky’s site. I really love that option.

All this and I’ve not even been here a week. Imagine what I’ll find out next week!

I should have moved here long ago.

If you use WordPress what do you love about this system?

Traveling Bells

Last Wednesday morning hubby and I packed the SUV and headed toward South Lake Tahoe to meet up with the Traveling Bells. They hail from Georgia and have traveled much of the world.

I’ve known Sandy since around 2006 (blogging buddy), and we met her and her husband on a Carnival Bloggers Cruise in February of 2011. When she told us they were going to be in South Lake Tahoe we were in.

We arrived at their Moho mid-afternoon and had a glass of champagne after some hugs and then I got to pet the kitties. Missy was more interested in napping, but KC loved being scratched. Both of them are adorable. We made plans for dinner at seven and hubby and I were off to Harrah’s to check in and get settled.

We met Dick and Sandy in the hotel lobby and went to the Forest Buffet on the 18th floor for dinner.

We spent a great deal of time catching up and then it was time for pictures and calling it a day. I’m so happy that we got to celebrate our birthdays by reconnecting with good friends. Blogging has been so wonderful for me because I’ve met so many bloggers. When you get to see each other again it’s even more special. Thanks for the birthday gifts and the wonderful dinner Dick and Sandy. We love you both.

The Black Dot

One day, a professor entered the classroom and asked his students to prepare for a surprise test. They all waited anxiously at their desks for the exam to begin. The professor handed out the exams with the text facing down, as usual. Once he handed them all out, he asked the students to turn over the papers.

To everyone’s surprise, there were no questions – just a black dot in the center of the sheet of paper. The professor, seeing the expression on everyone’s faces, told them the following: “I want you to write about what you see there.”

The students, confused, got started on the inexplicable task. At the end of the class, the professor took all the exams, and started reading each one of them out loud, in front of all the students. All of them, with no exception, defined the black dot, trying to explain its position in the center of the sheet.

After all had been read, the classroom silent, the professor started to explain: “I’m not going to grade you on this, I just wanted to give you something to think about. No one wrote about the white part of the paper. Everyone focused on the black do – and the same happens in our lives. We have a piece of paper to observe and enjoy, but we always focus on the dark spots.

Our life is a gift, and we always have reasons to celebrate – nature renewing itself daily, friends around us, the job that provides our livelihood, etc. However, we insist on focusing only on the dark spot – the health issues that bother us, the lack of money, the complicated relationships with others, or the disappointment with a friend. The dark spots are very small when compared to everything we have in our lives, but they’re the ones that pollute our mind.

Take your eyes away from the black dots in your life. Enjoy each one of your blessings and each moment that life gives you. Be happy and live a life filled with love.
