We used to drink and party a lot in our younger days, but getting drunk was infrequent and always accidental. ๐Ÿ˜ณ I don’t understand the mindset of some people who say “Let’s go out and get drunk”. ๐Ÿค” It seems that attitudes have changed for the better, though. In Europe, we are taught how to drink responsibly at a young age and there are no taboos about alcohol. I think that’s a better way than the “forbidden fruit” stance in North America. Teenagers always want what they’re not supposed to have! Thank YOU Sandee, and enjoy the rest of your week. ๐Ÿฅ‚

I enjoy my drink, but not to excess. I was drunk a few times as a teenager, but not to the point of passing out. Not that I can remember anyway! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Sandee says:

I hear you. I like a glass of champagne or wine with a good meal. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week. Scritches to the pups. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Eugi says:

Even when I was younger, I never got drunk, because the thought of the consequences was too scary. I saw too many friends mess up their lives by drinking way too much. I enjoy red wine in moderation, and maybe a beer on a hot day. Otherwise, I prefer to drink coffee. Happy Wednesday. Hugs!

  3. Suzana says:

You are incredible with this post! I never thought about figures of this kind.
Probably is better to say drunk instead of dead…!
Is it also something about how many people are enlightenment?๐Ÿ˜Š
    Hugs, dear Sandee! Happy WW!
Hear you in two weeks ahead!โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜˜

That is sad. I am a teetotaler because I saw the effects of alcoholism on my older sister at an early age. Thanks for hosting. Have a nice day. XO

  5. MadSnapper says:

I do not drink, and never have, because our family had several drunks like this one and my dad was a pastor and there were a lot of alcoholics in the families that went to the church. alcohol terrifies me. Bob’s wife died like this at age 42, she literally drank herself to death, including catching the kitchen on fire and another time the sofa in the living room on fire. and we never know if that genetic thing is there to grab us

    • Sandee says:

I hear you. Having folks that have battled this disease makes your opinion of alcohol far different. I’ve had friends that drank themselves to death. So sad. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thatโ€™s a whole lot of people impaired all at the same time. Hopefully the majority!are sleeping it off, and arenโ€™t driving or operating machinery. Happy Wednesday, Sandee!

Thank God I’m a friend of Bill W and Doctor Bob off and on since 1971. Have I been sober that long no my longest rune started December 15 1987 I mananged to stay sober when I was watching my Celestine fade away in October 2020 from kidney failure. that streak ended when Life was overwhelmed me on 02/01/2022 and again on 12/17/2023. Today by the Grace of God as I understand Him & The Great Spirt & Father Sky and mother Earth I have 1 Year 8 Months and 9 days or a total of 618 straight days Sober.

    • Sandee says:

I know you had a hard time after Celestine passed, but I’m so proud of you for putting that behind you and getting back on track. Scritches to Screwball. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. CAAC says:

All I can say is WOW! I don’t drink and don’t understand the appeal of getting drunk. The day after is reason enough to avoid it at all cost. Everything in moderation is the way to govern oneself.

  9. Suzette Benjamin says:

Wow, that is a statistic I did not know. Well hopefully that changes over time. As wisdom comes with age. Thank you Sandee for this sober (no pun intended) look at everyday events. Happy Wednesday. Much love and hugs to you dear friend.

I am pleased to say I have NEVER been drunk, although one time when I was angry I got a little buzz by drinking two hard drinks pretty fast… more than 40 years ago.
Since 2023, I have been a teetotaler as I figured I only have a certain number of brain cells left and I need them all. EVERY alcoholic drink destroys SOME cells, but with so many, most of us can still function, but going without just saves more of those precious neurons!๐Ÿ˜‰

  11. messymimi's meanderings says:

Yikes! That’s a lot of booze, and doesn’t even include those who are just having one and not getting pie-eyed.

I pray you and Mr. Zane have a fabulous rest of the week. Hugs to you and sritches to Lil’ Bit and Squeaker from me, okay?

  12. Rosey says:

That picture, minus the alcohol…because I have a drink once every ten years, if that) is me after work, hahahaha. They reassigned me to 9th graders again and they’re great kids but they’re busy and they make me tired. Exhausted. Hoping all is well there. Have a happy day.
