Hot Air Balloon

The pioneers of hot-air balloon travel were not brave men but a rooster, a sheep, and a duck that were sent up in the innovative contraption invented by brothers Joseph-Michel and Jacques-ร‰tienne Montgolfier at the end of the 1700s. They were placed in a cage suspended beneath the balloon, and, after eight minutes, ended up landing about two miles from where they took offโ€”but all were alive and well.

Love hot air balloons! We live next to an elementary school with a big playground and when we first moved here over 25 years ago they allowed balloonists to launch from there – that means they’d come right over our house as they went up up and away – often we’d be outside when that happened and they’d say “hello” to us as they silently floated away. We miss them!

    Hugs, Teddy

How wonderful. I would love to see these from the ground. they are so beautiful and colorful. A hug to you and lots of scritches to Teddy. ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s another experience I’d never had. I was only in a small aircraft with double command.
And it was fabulous. When you do not have contact with the ground, you really feel the a sort of freedom,
… if you do not panique…
Thank you, dear Sandee! Hugs, Happy WW and a fabulous week!โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜˜

    • Sandee says:

I’ve not had this experience either. I find the balloons so beautiful. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week, Suzana. Big hugs. ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t know about the animals either. I’m glad they survived the trip. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week, Sandra. Scritches to Beau. ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t know that animals were sent up for the first time. I once had an embarrassing experience with one early on in our marriage. I was in bed early in the morning and heard a strange noise. I rushed out to the kitchen window butt naked and pulled the curtains back only to come face to face with people landing in the field outside. We didn’t have a hedge there only a fence back then. The noise was them trying unsuccessfully to get some height. I sent Ivor out and kept well out of the way!

    • Sandee says:

You made me laugh out loud with the being butt naked and pulling the curtains back. My laugh of the morning. Love and hugs to you, my friend. ๐Ÿ™‚

Super cute new header. Someone has been in a spring cleaning mode on their blog ๐Ÿ˜‰ Mom likes to look at the hot air balloons but she is afraid to go up in one.

    • Sandee says:

Kymber did a blog makeover for me. She’s so talented. I’m going to do more headers for different times of the year, I love to look at the hot air balloons too, but I’m not going up in one. Scritches to the pups. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve never been in one but I’ve been up close at an annual hot air balloon festival our community hosts and have seen the process of the launch – it’s fascinating and exciting. Alana ramblinwitham.

    • Sandee says:

I’ve never been that close, but I would love to be. Not riding in one though. Heights are not my friend anymore. Happy Wordless Wednesday. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love seeing hot air balloons gliding through the sky. Helen, Georgia holds a hot air balloon race once a year. I’ve never been in a hot air balloon, but I have been in a blimp. I love your new headers. Happy Wednesday!

I had never heard that before very interesting. I love the new header. Thanks for hosting. Have a nice day. XO

I didn’t know about the first flight either. Thank you on the new headers. Kymber did a fabulous job on my blog facelift. You have a great day too, Ellen. A hug to you and lots of scritches to all the kitties. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sandee a hot air balloon reminds me of a very graceful ballerina…and of course I love all the vibrant colors of the balloons

    • Sandee says:

That must have been scary for you to watch and even more scary for those in the balloon. Glad they were okay. Happy Wordless Wednesday, my friend. Scritches to the kitties. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love your new header pic. It’s beautiful!

When I lived in NY there used to be a hot air balloon festival each year. I loved watching them in the air. I have never been in one. I’m just a spectator ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a great day and rest of the week!

That must have been a noisy fly for the animals, poor darlings, but glad they landed safely๐Ÿ˜ผOnce they were flying over our garden, and that was very loud, almost scary๐Ÿ™‰Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day and Week ahead to you, dear Sandee, Zane and the kitties too๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜ฝ๐Ÿ’ž

  12. CAAC says:

I like the idea of going up in a hot air balloon but you’ll never catch me doing it. I get dizzy getting on top of the house or anything high. Hot air balloons are spectacular to see floating across the sky, though. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • CAAC says:

I don’t think I ever had “fearless” days. I’ve always been a scaredy Cathy. I totally get what you’re saying about falling or hurting yourself. We all have to be more careful to make sure that doesn’t happen. Watch those kitties, they can get underfoot when you least expect it. Mom feeds and shelters stray cats. They always try to rush into the house. I worry they’re going to trip her. Now one of the cats had kittens. This increases her chance of falling. I pray that it doesn’t happen. She turned 80 last week and already has issues with one of her legs.

Crazy to think the first hot-air balloon passengers were a rooster, sheep, and duck! ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฆ† Gotta love how the Montgolfier brothers kicked off aviation history!

    Happy Thursday, Sandee!

    • Sandee says:

I was surprised by that too. Poor babies. You’re right about kicking off aviation history. Happy day and rest of the week, Veronica. Hugs. ๐Ÿ™‚

Interesting about the first to ride in a hot air balloon. They had no choice in the matter though. Glad they survived. Still I like to see one floating over. ๐Ÿ™‚
