Mount Fuji, Honshu Island (Japan)

Honshu, historically called Hondo, is the largest and most populous main island of Japan. It is located south of Hokkaidō across the Tsugaru Strait, north of Shikoku across the Inland Sea, and northeast of Kyūshū across the Kanmon Straits. The island separates the Sea of Japan, which lies to its north and west, from the North Pacific Ocean to the south and east. It is the seventh-largest island in the world, and the second-most populous after the Indonesian island of Java.

Honshu had a population of 104 million as of 2017, constituting 81.3% of the entire population of Japan, and is mostly concentrated in the coastal areas and plains. Approximately 30% of the total population resides in the Greater Tokyo Area on the Kantō Plain. As the historical center of Japanese cultural and political power,the island includes several past Japanese capitals, including Kyōto, Nara and Kamakura. Much of the island’s southern shore forms part of the Taiheiyō Belt, a megalopolis that spans several of the Japanese islands.   9. Love the mountain in snow with the cherry blossom in the foreground. Mom has seen Mt Fuji many times when she used to be in Japan on layovers as a flight attendant, way before any of us were born.

  13. foguth – Though Jeanne began her career technical writing, her love of romantic-suspense, whether it be present, future or in an unknown galaxy inspired her to write the novels she wanted to find in bookstores. Since marrying, Jeanne and her husband have lived from the arctic to the tropics, as well as from yacht to off-grid mountain home.     • They are indeed famous for their cherry blossoms. We used to go to the city (San Francisco) to see the blossoms in Japantown. Beautiful. 🙂

  23. I’ve been to Japan about 9 years ago and my biggest dream was to see Mount Fuji. The weather was bad, it was snowing…. We went a few miles up, but had to stop at the first stop due to the snowfall. So no Mount Fuji. Very disappointed.

    BUT THEN!!! On our flight back, the skies cleared and the captain nicely pointed out that there will be a beautiful view of Mount Fuji from the plain. And it was!! I got some stunning photos that I now will have to go look for.

  29. Jen – Texas – My name is Jennifer, but my friends and family call me Jen. I live in the DFW area here in Texas. ​I am a 49-year-old mom of two not-so-little kids - T (22) and S (19). I have been married to my best friend and soulmate, Fabian, for 23 years. We share our home with three crazy hairballs named Korina, Tabitha, and Tumbledart, and a doggo named Zac. I love reading and started at a young age when first introduced to my mother's stash of Nancy Drew Mysteries. Then I developed an odd fascination for horror and became obsessed with Stephen King during my middle school years. It is still my favorite horror novel. I was in high school when the "romance" book bug took a bite. I read my first historical romance novel, Skye O'Malley, by Bertrice Small, and I never looked back. That was almost 30 years ago. I love history and the Dark Ages of Scotland and Britain, with Tudor England and Regency following close behind. I adore Jane Austen! My passion is still Historical Romance, although I will read just about any genre that strikes my fancy these days. I have been gaming since the days of Atari when I would sit and play Asteroids and Missile Command for hours, after homework, of course! I still recall my father getting our first computer and becoming enveloped in PC gaming with Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves and Oregon Trail. Consoles by Nintendo and the Play Station soon followed, and the rest is history. I introduced my children to gaming at a young age, and we have been gaming and playing together ever since. We mainly play PC games like Minecraft, Wizard101, Pirate101, Toontown Rewritten, and games on Roblox and Steam, but we also play on the Switch and PS4, too. ​ I have been online, in some form or fashion, building a website or sharing my thoughts and musings for quite a few years.
