Asia in general is an interesting place to see. Mom used to be over there all the time in her years as a flight attendant. The culture and lifestyle is so different from here in the USA. Lots of history and culture to see and learn about.

I love this photo, Sandee! Japan IS amazing, and a wonderful place to visit. We were lucky enough to go toward the end of Cherry Blossom season. All I can say is WOW. Yes, Tokyo and Kyoto are perfect places to start. Right outside of Kyoto is Nara, which I think may have been my favorite. It’s amazingly ancient, and they have tame deer that wander all over the town (and have been for, like, forever). I totally want to go back. Happy Wednesday!

  6. foguth – Though Jeanne began her career technical writing, her love of romantic-suspense, whether it be present, future or in an unknown galaxy inspired her to write the novels she wanted to find in bookstores. Since marrying, Jeanne and her husband have lived from the arctic to the tropics, as well as from yacht to off-grid mountain home. She loves using vivid colors and flowing shapes in her oil paintings as well as creating edible landscapes. At present, she is finishing writing the Chatterre Trilogy and working on a new episode for The Sea Purrtector Files. Beautiful share! I have a good friend who is a native of Japan and she is blessed to go home at least twice a year. She lives and works in the USA legally and paid a hefty price to be a legal working stiff. She cracks me up, her mom is forever on her case for not being the perfect Japanese girl. She told me she once was asked to leave a yoga class because she could not complete the pose and they told her : “You are a bad Japanese” I call her Dr. T because she has a Ph.D. in Audiology. We can discuss WWII like 2 adults and she often told me stories of her grandmother as a young girl during the war. We read the book “Unbroken” and had wonderful, often emotional discusses about it. I tell her stories about my late FIL who was near Pearl Harbor when it happened. She is married to an American and they have a daughter and a son, beautiful children. SHe lives on an old farm. Her hubby redid the house to Better Homes and Gardens perfection, one room at a time. She also has a private blog so she can complain to herself about her mom’s strict comments on her weight. A patient once said, your people make excellent lemon chicken. She was dumbfounded. I said you gotta tell it like it is chickie, you are Japanese not Chinese. Let people know and always, be proud of who you are and where you come from. (oh she speaks fluent Spanish too shhhh……not everyone knows this about her.) HaHaHa

What a gorgeous view, I had a friend that was over there for years after living in Africa and Germany. I’m not sure I’d want to make the effort you’d need to see all the sights at this point.

We lived in Japan for a couple of years and it was so interesting. We were just outside of Tokyo, and on some clear days we could see Mt. Fuji in the distance. The cherry blossoms were gorgeous too. <3

I love Mt Fuji and Kyoto is amazing. My dad took our family to the foot of Mt. Fuji when we were stationed there. I still think it’s one of the most beautiful mountains/volcanoes in the world. Kyoto I got to visit in my 20s. I had an amazing time. There are temples everywhere — just follow the red torii gates and you’ll find one. And the lotus leaves in the ponds are huge — like dinosaur leaves.
