Densuke Watermelon
Originating from the island of Hokkaido in Japan, Densuke watermelons are a black watermelon variety. They’re prized for their onyx rind, bright red flesh, firm texture, and exceptional sweetness by collectors worldwide. This premium watermelon variety is meticulously cultivated in limited quantities. As few as 10,000 Densuke watermelons are harvested each year. The scarcity of Densuke watermelon, coupled with its exceptional taste and visual appeal, contributes to its high price point (around $250 per watermelon). Source: Webstaurant Store

Ahhh yes! Watermelon season is just about here – there’s nothing quite like a slice (or three) of watermelon on a hot day. Some people put salt on it – I like it just the say Mother Nature grew it. YUM.
Hugs, Pam
I love very cold watermelon. No salt or pepper just plain. Delicious. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to handsome Teddy. 🙂
Yumm- and for some reason, it does look sweeter being black!
It does indeed. I love watermelon. Happy day and rest of the week, Duke. 🙂
I love watermelons, but I’ll be sticking to the affordable ones for now!
That makes two of us, Keith. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week. 🙂
Wow, that’s an expensive watermelon. And here I was complaining not too long ago about one of the farm stands having them for $10
Ten bucks is still pricey. I would pay that for a good watermelon though. Hugs, my friend. 🙂
Interesting facts, Watermelon always favorite.
I agree. Watermelons are delicious. I love all fresh fruit. 🙂
Of course I did not know the subject. I prefer the yellow type, no idea how in English sound the name. I could not imagine the price, but I am not surprised that is possible.
Happy WW again, dear Sandee! So refreshing this post!
Hugs and joy and thank you for the Blog Hop!❤️😘
I didn’t know about this either. I would love to taste one though. Love and hugs, Suzana. 🙂
You either need to be wealthy or really love watermelon to spend that much on something that is mostly water!
I hear you. I’ll just have the traditional ones we can find in our grocery store. Scritches to the pups. 🙂
Holey Cow, that’s a high purrized watermelon, Sandee, we’re glad we don’t like them💰😹but we like the honey melons🍈Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day and week ahead to you, Zane and the kitties too. Enjoy🐾😽💞
Way to expensive for me. Double Pawkisses to you both and a big hug to your wonderful Granny. 🙂
Wow, that’s a pricy watermelon. I’ll stick to the ones I can afford. Yum! Happy Wednesday.
That makes two of us, Eugenia. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂
I’ve eaten Moon and Stars watermelon, an heirloom variety, and that is delicious. I also like yellow watermelon. Nothing like watermelon on a hot summer day. I’ll have to pass on this variety, though. Alana ramblinwitham
I’ve not had any watermelon this summer. I need to fix that. I love fresh fruit of all kinds. 🙂
Se ve deliciosa. Me encantan las sandías. Besitos desde España
It does look delicious and I love watermelon, too. Happy WW and rest of the week. 🙂
I hope it tastes a lot better than regular ones at that price. 🙂 Thank you for hosting. Have a nice day. XO
I would think it’s much tastier. Happy day and rest of the week, Ellen. Scritches to the precious kitties. 🙂
You can also use it for bowling.
You made me laugh out loud. 🙂
Wow. I guess none of us are going to get to eat one of those. But we all enjoy our green watermelons that are pink inside (without seeds). XOX Xena and my pack
I’m not going to either. It would probably impossible to get one even if you agreed to pay this much for one. Scritches to the precious pups and a big hug to mom. 🙂
You find the most interesting facts to share!
I looks for the unusual things. It’s fun. Scritches to the kitties. 🙂
Wow! That’s some expensive watermelon!
It sure is. I’ve not had any watermelon this summer. 🙂
What a beautiful melon…not $250 beautiful though LOL
I agree with you, but I would love a taste. Happy day and rest of the week. Scritches to the pups. 🙂
Black watermelons…that will make a very pretty dish and a conversation started if the rind was left on when serving
Hugs x 4
Cecilia
It sure will. I would love to have a taste though. Happy day and rest of the week, my friend. Love and hugs. 🙂
Oh they are magical! I have never seen or heard of this watermelon variety. Very pricey for a watermelon, though. Thank you for the as always marvelous facts, Sandee. Thank you!
Happy Wordless Wednesday, dear friend. Peace, love and light to you.
I had no idea about these watermelons. I’ll just have the traditional ones that are far less expensive. Love and hugs, my wonderful friend. 🙂
I love watermelon. But I can find a wonderful tasting, sweet watermelon much less than $250 each. But still, it is fun to learn of this kind.
I hear you and I agree with you, Betty. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂
Yum, but I’ll stick with the regular old high priced watermelon!
Same here. Way to expensive for me. Scritches to all the kitties and a smooch to handsome Simon. 🙂
Yummy and great info too ~
Hugs and love from me and Ziggy ~ ^_^
I wouldn’t buy one, but I would love a taste. Love and hugs to you and Ziggy. 🙂
My grandson and I just watched a chef video that highlighted all the different watermelons–yellow, orange, and a very expensive one, like the black one you shared. I love watermelon, but I’ll be sticking to the tradition, less expensive ones! Oh, and I also just saw a fabulous watermelon ice cream for dogs video! Gotta love that melon! 🍉
I’ll stick to the traditional watermelon too. It’s in my price range. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂
WOW! This watermelon sounds too expensive to eat. What an unusual delicacy!
I hear you. I wouldn’t pay $250.00 for a watermelon. Happy day and rest of the week, Pat. 🙂
Take my money! WANT!
I’d love a taste. I’m guessing they are amazingly delicious. 🙂
Interesting. I didn’t know much about this variety of watermelon.
I had no idea about this pricey watermelon. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂
Whoa that’s one pricey mellow. While not a fan of the high glycemic treat, I know most people love them. How interesting that the exterior is a shiny black. Fascinating stuff, Sandee! Happy mid-week.
I found this most interesting. I’d love to taste this watermelon though. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to handsome Wilson. 🙂
Mom has never heard of these and is surprised, as our Dad has been to Japan about 15 times. The outside looks like a bowling ball. MOL! She thinks if she paid $250. for a watermelon, she will have lost her marbles. MOL! Thanks for linking us up! Happy Wednesday. I didn’t know about these watermelons either. I wouldn’t pay that much for one, but I found this very interesting. Scritches to all the kitties, a smooch to Cooper Murphy and a big hug to you. 🙂
Good morning, Sandee. Thank you for this #WW party. Enjoy your week.
Ouch, too rich for my pocket, so will have to skip this one.

Good morning, Esme. Thank you for all you do. Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week, my friend. 🙂
Wow, $250 for a watermelon? It better taste really good.
Happy Wednesday!
I hear you. I’ll just have the regular watermelons I can find at my grocery store. Happy day and rest of the week, Yvonne. 🙂
Wow! That’s amazing. Hugs and best wishes, my dear.
I love amazing tidbits. Happy day and week. Love and hugs. 🙂
I’m not a big fan of watermelons, but my wife is. She bought one of those melons. It IS very sweet and delicious. Even to me!
You’re the only one of my blogging friends that’s had a taste. I’m impressed. 🙂
We went to a farmer’s market here in Virginia Beach. They had the traditional watermelons and these. Like I said, delicious.
Those are so cool. Alas, at $250/watermelon, I will probably never do a taste test. 🙂
Happy Wednesday, Sandee. I hope you, Zane, Lil’ Bit and Squeaker are doing well!
Me either. I would love a taste. We are doing well. Hope you and yours are, too. 🙂
Wow, pricey but bet it is so delicious. Although, watermelon is delicious (unless you get a bad one, which I have in the past and had to pitch some). Cannot imagine paying that though.
I would love a taste of this watermelon. Not going to pay that much for a watermelon. 🙂
Sure could use some medications that cause good things (which some do), but young skin, younger with no aches and pains, stronger legs, lots of things. I don’t really need sexy anymore (passed that few years back) lol. Happy Tuesday and rest of the week. Love the funnies.
Yea, yes, yes and yes. 🙂
I know they have a lot of melons but I didn’t realise watermelon was one!
Me either. Happy day and rest of the week, Lydia. 🙂
Hi, Sandee. I would need to take your word. $250 per watermelon, it better be sweet and delicious 😳
I hear you. Way out of my price range. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂
How cool to know about this watermelon. I love eating watermelon every day, but this one is way out of our price range. I’ll stick with regular ones. Happy Wednesday <3
I hear you and I wouldn’t spend this on a watermelon. I can buy a lot of groceries for 250.00. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂
It seems there’s no end to the lengths people go to in order to get something few other people have. I’ll stick with what we see at the farmer’s market.
You and Mr. Zane have a blessed week and please give Lil’ Bit and Squeaker a treat from me.
I agree with you. I would love to taste the watermelon though. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂
I never imagined watermelons could be this exclusive! 🍉 The black rind makes it look mysterious, and the limited harvest explains the price. Would love to taste one someday, even just a slice.
I would love to have a taste, too. Happy weekend, Veronica. 🙂
Watermelon and strawberry juice, oh my – it’s deeeelicious!! LOL Thank mew so much for adding our links, mew are the BEST EVER!!! Happy Monday, Sandee, and we hope your week is epic! 😻✨🐾✨😻
Yes and yes. You’re always welcome for the links. Scritches to all the kitties and a big hug to you. 🙂
