Wordless Wednesday

WW is a simple blog post featuring a photo which conveys a message that speaks for itself without using words.

For all the rule breakers, of which I am one, please feel free to add all the words you want.

Make sure you leave a link to your post and I’ll visit your Wordless Wednesday post.

Happy 4th of July America

On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was adopted and the United States separated itself from Great Britain. This document declared that all men are “created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, and that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” With these powerful and moving words, our forefathers formed a brand new nation with a vision of freedom and democracy that would forever change history.

  • In 1776, there were 2.5 million people living in the new nation. Today there are over 318 million.
  • There are more than 30 towns nationwide that have the word “Liberty” in their names.
  • Approximately 150 million hotdogs are consumed on the Fourth of July.
  • Around $675 million dollars will be spent by consumers for fireworks on the Fourth of July. Source: The Fact Base

  4. Wishing you a happy Fourth, Sandee. Our day will probably be quiet but we hope to watch some of the celebrations on TV. This is a great country and we still have much to celebrate. Alana ramblinwitham

    • I agree with you, Alana. It’s a great country indeed. We need to focus on the positive and not on the negative as with anything. Happy day and rest of the week. Hugs. 🙂

We really ARE wordless on Wednesday since we don’t blog on Tuesday or Wednesday any longer BUT we still like to visit!!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy

    • I love each and every one of your visits. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to handsome Teddy. 🙂

  6. What interesting facts and it’s so sad that so many $$ are spent on fireworks as so many pets and wildlife are afraid.

    • I hear you. Our Angel Little Bit hated the fireworks and would beg us to make them stop. Our kitties hide. I hear you. 🙂

    • Thank you, Chica. Have a fabulous day and rest of the week. Hugs. 🙂

    • I’ve not had a hot dog in a very long time. They just don’t agree with me anymore, but I sure loved a good hot dog in my younger years. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. 🙂

Interesting facts, Sandee, and a happy Fourth of July to you, and yours.

    • The hot dog one didn’t surprise me one bit. Hamburgers and hot dogs just go with the forth of July. Love and hugs, Eugenia. 🙂

    • Thank you so much. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂

  8. Happy 250th, America!
Such a milestone to celebrate, and I love how you paired it with those fun facts. Wishing you and everyone a joyful Fourth filled with laughter, good food, and plenty of sparkle. ✨

    • Thank you, Veronica. We’ll have a quiet day and that’s good with us. We’ll stay with our kitties so we’re here when all the fireworks start. 🙂

  9. We are happy to celebrate our country’s big birthday but we sure wish fireworks would go away. Mom says this weekend will be a nightmare for us with all the fireworks most likely day and night. Sadly, it makes the holiday no fun and Mom will not be able to celebrate because we can’t be left alone when some of us are so terrified.

    • I’m with you on the fireworks. Our kitties don’t like them either and they hid most of the night. Our Angel Little Bit hated them. Most pups do. Happy day and rest of the week. Scritches to the precious pups. 🙂

    • I hope you have a happy 4th of July, too. Scritches to the kitties and a big hug to you. 🙂

    • Happy Independence Day, Faythe. Yes on God Bless America. Love and hugs. 🙂

    • I had no idea about the hot dogs. Happy day and rest of the week, Terry. Scritches to the kitties. 🙂

  10. What a lot of celebrating. I pray you and Mr. Zane have a wonderful celebration however you like to do it. Hugs to the two of you and scritches to Lil’ Bit and Squeaker.

    • We’ll have a quiet day as we always do. You and Mr. Sweetie have a fabulous day and rest of the week. Love and hugs. 🙂

  11. Been reading/listening to books that really deep-dive into processes and people who played roles in our Revolution…on both sides of the Atlantic.
Canada did it differently; they waited it out, and gained their independence without bloodshed, so we’ve got to give them props for that.
    Happy Canada Day!

    • Some do it better. Happy Canada Day. Scritches to the kitties. 🙂

  12. Betty – Hello, I am Betty, the author of this blog, and this is my husband, Dan. I retired on 6/30/2018, and Dan retired about a year later, on 5/31/2019. Now that we are both retired, we plan to travel most often in our 23FBKS Micro Lite travel trailer. We also hope to travel other ways occasionally, such as taking a cruise, a roadtrip, perhaps a tour someday. In addition to travel, we like to walk, ride bikes, read, and play Scrabble. I love to write. This blog chronicles our travels in retirement. My purpose in writing this blog is: 1) to offer insight for those who may be making similar trips/adventures in the future 2) to share our adventures with family and friends who care to read and 3) to capture the memories for us. I hope you enjoy reading my blog. I hope it is uplifting, gives you a few smiles and maybe an idea or two. Comments are very much appreciated, and I will respond to all. Thank you for reading, and Happy Travels!

I have never felt more ambivalent about celebrating the 4th of July myself than I do this year.

    • I’ve not felt more blessed about celebrating the 4th of July. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂

    • Beautifully said. Love and hugs to you and Ziggy. 🙂

Those are some remarkable statistics about the Fourth of July, Sandee. Just think if even a tiny fraction of the money spent on fireworks was channeled into saving lost and traumatized pets after the 4th’s fireworks…it blows my mind.

    • I agree with you. How about 50%? Our babies hate fireworks. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to handsome Wilson. 🙂

Thanks for linking us up. We were on our way here when we saw your comment of Sawyer & Stinky’s birthday post. And of course it took another 150 years after the Declaration for women to get the vote. • Happy Canada Day and Happy 4th of July. Scritches to the kitty. 🙂

    • Thank you, Klara. Have a great day and rest of the week. 🙂

    • I remember too and now here we are. Happy 250th. Scritches to the pups and my very best to the both of you. 🙂

  18. Happy 4th of July, Sandee! That’s a heck of a lot of money spent on fireworks. We are not fans of them, as they are so frightening for animals and many of our courageous veterans.

    • We never buy fireworks. Our babies hate them. 🙂

    • You’re right about that. Happy Wednesday and rest of the week. 🙂

  19. Cool factoids about our nation!

I thought about going with hotdogs, but wieners don’t sit right on my tummy. Instead, I’m making BBQ pork! :p

Have a safe and happy Independence Day, Sandee!

    • BBQ pork with coleslaw on a burger bun. Delicious. A great choice. Hot dogs don’t sit will with me anymore either. Love and hugs, my friend. 🙂

    • Thank you, Lydia. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂

  21. You know, 250 yrs is not really that long ago, if you think about it. And I do remember the 200 bday, I was 16 and just like dressing for themed weddings, and Halloween, I dressed for that Bday.

    • Thanks, Keith. Happy day and rest of the week. 🙂

  22. Wing Commander Basil & The B Team – UK – Well, now there's a question! Furstly and most importantly I'm a cat if mew hadn't already guessed. I got my Wing Commander status in September 2018 but that hasn't slowed me up at all! I tweet, Instacat, FB, Tumble & Pin too and now there's Basil TV on YouTube. All in all I'm a thoroughly Modern Cat; a cat of the 21st century, mew might say. My human & Purrsonal Assistant aka P.A. is Cathrine Garnell, and she writes books including a tale about my fictional alter ego, Basil the Bionic Cat. [See Books Page] I live in a multi-cat household, and mew can meet the rest of The B Team here most days of the week, as they all like a turn on the blog. I like mice, but then don't we all? I also like fresh tuna, chicken and prawns. I LOVE catnip, not in any excess I might add before mew jump to any wild conclusions. Thanks so much for dropping by, as we The B Team, love making new furriends, so do leave us a comment and say hi.
Wing Commander Basil & The B Team

Hope you’re having the most epic celebrations ever!!! Thank mew for adding our links, Sandee, mew are wonderful! 🐾✨🎈🎊🎈✨🐾

    • We had a most wonderful day yesterday. Quiet until the neighborhood fireworks. Love and hugs all around. 🙂

  23. when I was 6 years old, which is my first memories of my grandmothers home here where I live now, the population was 34,704 and today is 400,000 when I moved here in 1984, it was 174,305 so and now we are one big city, Tampa, Sarsaota, Palmetto, Bradenton, and St Pete Clearwater. driving we don’t know when we cross into another city and the total for Tampa Bay is 4 million, not the town I loved my whole life, more people and cars that I ever imagined.

    • Same has happened here. All the small towns around are now part of the big town. Traffic is horrible here, too. Happy day and week, my friend. Scritches to Beau. 🙂

  24. My husband and I dreaded what seemed inevitable terrorist attack(s). Praise God nothing happened, or was thwarted by the brave men and women protecting us. Be well, my dear!

    • Amen to that. I’m sure there are things about this we’ll never know. That’s a good thing. Hugs. 🙂
