About Turkeys

Each year, about 46 million turkeys are cooked. Thanksgiving Day and turkey go hand-in-hand, so this number shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. Although not all Americans celebrate the holiday or eat turkey, there are still millions of families gathering around the table to partake in one of the most special meals of the year—and for those who aren’t satisfied with only one day of it, Christmas is also a popular occasion to cook another turkey. Mother always had turkey, TG and Christmas, and that was the only time of the year we had them. Sunday lunch after church was always chuck roast, potatoes and carrots and onions and that was left on the timer in the electric stove that turned in on and off when done. she did that for Turkey also, but set it to come on before we woke up and now I am wondering how long that thawed turkey sat in the oven before it started cooking. its a wonder we survived.

    • Sandee – California – Home of Awww Mondays, Happy Tuesday, and Wordless Wednesday.
      Sandee says:

Growing up we did too. I carried the tradition on when mom couldn’t do it anymore. I added a spiral ham since my sister loved ham. Now it’s just hubby and I. Things were different back then. I’m glad we survived too. 🙂

  16. Wing Commander Basil & The B Team – UK – Well, now there's a question! Furstly and most importantly I'm a cat if mew hadn't already guessed. I got my Wing Commander status in September 2018 but that hasn't slowed me up at all! I tweet, Instacat, FB, Tumble & Pin too and now there's Basil TV on YouTube. All in all I'm a thoroughly Modern Cat; a cat of the 21st century, mew might say. My human & Purrsonal Assistant aka P.A. is Cathrine Garnell, and she writes books including a tale about my fictional alter ego, Basil the Bionic Cat. [See Books Page] I live in a multi-cat household, and mew can meet the rest of The B Team here most days of the week, as they all like a turn on the blog. I like mice, but then don't we all? I also like fresh tuna, chicken and prawns. I LOVE catnip, not in any excess I might add before mew jump to any wild conclusions. Thanks so much for dropping by, as we The B Team, love making new furriends, so do leave us a comment and say hi.
Wing Commander Basil & The B Team says:

We hope mew had a lovely Thanksgiving and thank mew for adding our links! 😻🐾😻🐾
