Casablanca – 1942
Casablanca is a 1942 American romantic drama film directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, and Paul Henreid. Filmed and set during World War II, it focuses on an American expatriate (Bogart) who must choose between his love for a woman (Bergman) and helping her husband (Henreid), a Czechoslovak resistance leader, escape from the Vichy-controlled city of Casablanca to continue his fight against the Germans. The screenplay is based on Everybody Comes to Rick’s, an unproduced stage play by Murray Burnett and Joan Alison. The supporting cast features Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, and Dooley Wilson.
The entire picture was shot in the studio except for the sequence showing Strasser’s arrival and close-ups of the Lockheed Electra (filmed at Van Nuys Airport) and a few short clips of stock footage views of Paris. The street used for the exterior shots had recently been built for another film, The Desert Song, and redressed for the Paris flashbacks. Source: Wikipedia

Granny has seen this movie in the sixties, when she still was a little girl. She loved it and has to see it again, after more than 60 years. Double Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahead to you, dear Sandee and the kitties too🐾😽💞
It’s worth the watch indeed. I’ve seen it more than once and I hope to see it again. Double Pawkisses to you both and a big hug to Granny. 🙂
it has been around for all of my many years and I had never watched it until 2 years ago, I watched it just to see why it has been so loved. I still don’t know. I have seen bits and pieces of it over the years because it is an all time favorite of so many people.
You either like it or you don’t. It had a powerful message. Scritches to Beau. 🙂
Such a wonderful and famous film. It was a real film. The big ones these days are nothing like the ones from the old days.
I agree with your assessment. Such a classic. 🙂
What a superb choice, Sandee. I love this movie. Happy Wednesday! Hugs!
I love this movie too. Happy Wednesday, my friend. Hugs back. 🙂
That’s a classic, for sure. How fascinating that so much of it was shot in the studio!

I always love to see where they were filmed. Sometimes it’s where you never dreamed it would be. You have a wonderful Wednesday too, my friend. 🙂
Ah, classic old Hollywood! I’ve had the pleasure of watching it a couple of times. Little wonder it’s iconic. I love ‘As Time Goes By’ and used to play it on the piano when I was younger. Thanks for the memories.
It’s a classic indeed. I can watch this movie over and over. Happy Wordless Wednesday. Scritches to Dani. 🙂

Hi Sandee, thank you for being here. I love old black and white movies. This one was such a classic. Thanks for always being here for everyone. I had a scary weekend with my sweetheart so I am off the charts mixed up! I did post Happy Tuesday ay my other blog and Wordless Wednesday at PHAMILYBLOG. It’s been a rough start to September but not quite as awful as August. I hope you are having a wonderful mid week. Take care.
Love and hugs to you and yours my friend. I know you’ve had some awful scares. You and yours are always in my thoughts and prayers. Love you. 🙂
I managed to find a copy before I did my tour around Morocco which started and ended in Casablanca. The film was wonderful, the city, a bit underwhelming!
I had no idea the city was underwhelming. I did love the movie. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week, Keith. 🙂
Thank you Sandee. I have heard a great deal of good things about this movie, but I have never watched it. Perhaps its time. Thanks for the introduction in a great classic of film. Have a lovely Wednesday!

Hope you will join/share M-Sat at https://esmesalon.com/tag/wordlesswednesday/
I loved them too. What a spark they had in this film. Happy Wordless Wednesday, my friend. 🙂
I love the old B&W movies where almost everything was shot on a sound stage. They often resemble more of a play than a motion picture.
It was a great movie. I’m going to watch it again. Happy Wordless Wednesday, my friend. 🙂
I first watched it in a film class in college and it has grown on me over the years. Those movies are so very classic.
I agree that they are classics. Happy Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week, Patrick. 🙂
Here’s looking at you kid!
Well said, Cloudia. Scritches to Pixie. 🙂
Mom says that was a wonderful movie with an outstanding cast. Thanks for the background.
Woos – Misty and Timber
Your mom is right about this. Scritches all around. 🙂

One of the all time classics. I didn’t realise it had been almost entirely filmed in the studio.
I didn’t know that either. What a classic movie this is. 🙂
It’s a classic, for sure. 😀 Be well, my dear.
I agree with you. Be well, too. Hugs. 🙂
Movie factoid: The oft quoted phrase, “Play it again, Sam,” was never in this movie.
True! 🙂
You’re so smart. Love this factoid. 🙂
A classic and a keeper! 💖 It’s part of our home movie library and we’ve seen it multiple times. Excellent choice, Sandee! Have a lovely rest of the week.

Love to you all. 🙂
confession, I have never seen Casablanca. Okay, shut your mouth, I know it dropped open when you read that, just like mine did when my grandsons told me they have never seen the Wizard of Oz! Okay, I need to make it a thing, and watch that show. I am ashamed!
Don’t be ashamed. Not everyone is into many movies. Happy weekend. Scritches to the kitties. 🙂
A classic, one of many dad says he’s never seen. According to him, if/when he retires, he plans to catch up on many things including all of the classics.
He’ll enjoy this classic movie. Happy week to your dad, Smudge. 🙂
