Our Morning View
Tule fog is a thick ground fog that settles in the San Joaquin Valley and Sacramento Valley areas of California‘s Central Valley. Tule fog forms from late fall through early spring (California’s winter season) after the first significant rainfall. The official time frame for tule fog to form is from November 1 to March 31. This phenomenon is named after the tule grass wetlands (tulares) of the Central Valley. Tule fog is the leading cause of weather-related accidents in California. Source: Wikipedia

I guess winter weather is dangerous everywhere, but that tule fog sure is pretty. Does it always look like that across the moon or other lighted areas?
It’s pretty when you’re inside and very stressful if your driving. 🙂

It’s mighty cold out there this morning. 🙂
It makes a very atmospheric photo. We get a lot of dense fog here. Officially it is sea mist but can be so dense we can’t see into the garden. It rolls in off the sea and up the river. It usually disperses by late morning if there is sun, but sometimes it will stay for days in the winter.
It gets that dense here too. Hubby loved this shot because of the sun and the bird in the tree. 🙂

That is some pretty thick looking fog. I have never liked driving in it.
I hate driving in it and avoid it if I can. 🙂
What a gorgeous picture! It’s even more ethereal with a single tiny bird. The fog is fabulous and adds a sense of mystery.

beautiful fog foto. hope you are not in all the bad weather that is going on. we have had a few days of ground fog and a couple of the type that floats on top of the trees, clear on the ground not in the trees.
We have lots of storms coming through and we’re on higher ground so we’re fine. Happy day, Sandra. 🙂
We get some different kinds of fog at this time of year too. That looks pretty, but hopefully it is not too dangerous for driving.
Yes there are and we get the worst kind here. It’s very dangerous when you’re driving. 🙂

I lived on the West Coast of Florida for two years and remember constant January morning fogs – I even had some of my driving lessons in it (when I was learning) which had a few scary moments. It does lead to lovely pictures, though. Alana ramblinwitham

I am a fan Robert Frost’s poem Fog:”THE fog comes on little cat feet. It sits looking over harbor and city on silent haunches and then moves on”. Maybe that is why I like fog it is so descriptive of a feline on the move.

Storm after storm, but we’re safe. No flooding here, but we’ve had some frightening storms pass. 🙂
Really nice fog photo. But, yeah, I think I’d rather drive in snow than fog. Pretty, but not to drive in.
That makes two of us. Not a white out, but snow can be far easier to navigate. 🙂

What a great pic! We get inversions here and they look sort of spooky but it’s just trapped, unmoving air – horrible air quality – that settles in and makes for gray days.

Silly me, i thought that most of the accidents were from peeps who couldn’t drive correctly.

Our fog doesn’t get such a fancy name, but it can be thick enough to shut down highways.

Wow! I love the fog in winter. We get valley fog here in the winter and when the river is open and if it is really cold, the fog leaves frost on the tress. Thanks for sharing the stunning photo! Barb

This looks so much like our fog here. It is dense, zero visibility and sometimes stays beyond noon. In fact the last 10 days thats how it’s been. Fortunately we have the sun peeping out and warming our souls the last two days, though not before mid morning.
It’s been freezing here. Very cold after many years in New Delhi capital region.
Just the kind of winters we experienced about 15-20 years ago.

Some years back the fog would remain for up to two months and never lift. Had to travel up about the fog line to get some sun. Love and hugs, sweet Natasha. 🙂

That fog is beautiful. We have banks of low level clouds that make you feel like you’re in fog. They usually form over oceans or large bodies of water (our lake here is huge) and you drive right through them, especially on the Long Bridge that takes you into town. I don’t know if they have aname though.
If we’re inside we don’t mind the fog. Driving in it is another story. Happy weekend. 🙂
With cool days and warm days, we have had our share of foggy mornings. Today, however, is yucky, cloudy, snowy, and cold.
It’s raining here again and will be all weekend. 🙂
