Hospital regulations require a wheelchair for patients being discharged. However, while working as a student nurse, I found one elderly gentleman already dressed and sitting on the bed with a suitcase at his feet who insisted he didn’t need my help to leave the hospital.
After a chat about rules being rules, he reluctantly let me wheel him to the elevator. On the way down I asked him if his wife was meeting him.
“I don’t know,” he said. “She’s still upstairs in the bathroom changing out of her hospital gown.”
The girl should have gone up to pick her up also. They wouldn't need two wheelchairs. Have a brilliant Tuesday Sandee. Say hi to Zane & Little Bit. See ya.
Ha ha ha..Sandee, what a terrific joke!
I thought so too. 🙂

LOL, too funny. I think that student nurse might want to pick a different profession though
Well, she probably won't make that mistake again. 🙂
Too funny. Hope the wife got a ride too. Sandee, you and Zane and Little Bit have a most wonderful day.

I'm guessing she did. Embarrassed is pillock? 🙂
LOL!!! Talk about a case of mistaken identity! 🙂 🙂
You'd think you'd check with asking their name and that would have taken care of this error. 🙂
Hahahahahaaaaaaa…case of mistaken identity!
Have a great day!
Yes indeed. 🙂
LOL, that's a good one.
Well, at least he got a free ride. 🙂
Funny, and I'm guessing it is true.
I'm pretty sure this has happened more than once Joe. 🙂

I'm giving LB lots of loving pats. 🙂
Lol. He did explain he didn't need any help leaving the hospital. She's the one who insisted on the wheelchair.
Well, I'm sure lots of patients say the same thing. 🙂
Rules must be followed.
Yes, for the safety of the patients. 🙂
Hahaha!! Oh my goodness, this is really funny!!
Thanks Jen. I can see it happening. 🙂
Well, he TRIED to tell her!
He sure did Stephanie. She just wouldn't listen. 🙂
And she was still clueless too, lol, but I bet the nurse was surprised. 😉
Makes you want to say, 'bless her heart'. 🙂
LOL – She is in for a surprise when she gets out of that bathroom.
Perhaps, but she's married to the guy. It may not be as surprising as we think. 🙂
Ha Ha!!! Hilarious. A joke or a real life experience???
I'm guessing both Tony. 🙂
What was she doing in his hospital gown?!
I don't know Binky, but it got him into trouble. 🙂
re-blogged this – to my father-in-law!
Go for it Alec. 🙂
