Thankful Thursday

It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian of Brian’s Home. He wants us to post what we’re thankful for.

I think it’s a good thing to do each week. Focus on the positive things in our lives.

Make sure you link up to the Blog Hop at Brian’s Home and get the code to put on your blog. Then visit all the participants.

I’m thankful for the wonderful anniversary cruise hubby and I had together this past weekend. Being out on the water was most wonderful. We enjoyed some great food, lots of reading and just being together.

The top photograph was all the goslings we got to enjoy seeing all weekend long. They were most adorable.

The bottom photograph is a cigar boat that’s about 40′ long. The driver of this vessel was not a captain. He only knew how to go straight and fast. He almost hit us multiple times trying to get that boat on the dock. Hubby went over to help, but he wasn’t having that. He ending up running the boat up on the dock right across the cleat. I’m sure there was some damage to his boat. We were directly across from him. We’re thankful that he came near our boat, but didn’t run into our boat.

What are you thankful for today?

I am glad you had a lovely anniversary cruise on your boat. It sounds like the person on the other boat was a total idiot and shouldn’t be on the water.

So happy to hear you had a nice anniversary celebration.
I hate to say it but the guy with the other boat sounds like an idiot especially since he wouldn’t accept help when it was offered.

I think this guy was very embarrassed. He did a very poor job of docking his boat. 🙂

Not bad for a weekend. It was very windy so that didn’t help either. 🙂

I’ve always wondered why boat drivers didn’t have to pass a boat driving test and get a boat driving licence. I am also thankful he didn’t hit your boat.
I am thankful that Riley’s eye is beginning to heal and absorb the eye tissue sewn over it to protect and nourish it. It’s been what feels like a long and expensive road to save that big, beautiful brown eye, but it will be worth it all.

    • Sandee – California – Home of Awww Mondays, Happy Tuesday, and Wordless Wednesday.
      Sandee says:

I’m glad Riley is coming along. Yes it’s worth it. I would have done the same. 🙂

Back in the day when I lived in South Florida, I went boating every weekend. I was shocked at the number of boaters that should not be operating a boat. I’m glad you and your boat are safe. Happy Thursday!

      Sandee says:

Yes and it’s no different here. They are most frightening. Happy Thursday, Eugenia. 🙂

Sounds like a nice trip except for the near miss, but glad he didn’t hit your boat. I would think one would need to pass a test to steer a boat. XO

    • Sandee – California – Home of Awww Mondays, Happy Tuesday, and Wordless Wednesday.
      Sandee says:

No there aren’t any tests to drive a boat, but here are lots of captains out there that can help you operate your boat properly. 🙂

      Sandee says:

Thank you for being my husband and we did have a wonderful anniversary cruise. Love you. 🙂

  8. Sandra Hangey says:

they should require boat license just like drivers license. there are many out here on boats that do not belong driving one, especially thee big fast dangerous boats. glad you were not hit or shot for offering help. so glad you got your anniversary cruise..

    • Sandee – California – Home of Awww Mondays, Happy Tuesday, and Wordless Wednesday.
      Sandee says:

Oh the cigar boats are all over the place here in the summertime. They can be frightening at times. Then there are the Delta Destroyers. Houseboats. They are a vessel to watch out for. 🙂

  9. Cecilia Upchurch says:

Very happy to hear your anniversary cruise was wonderful
Cigar boat: straight and fast…ummm sounds like that guy had more money than brains ..I don’t know what it is about folks not accepting assistance when they clearly need it.
    Hugs Cecilia

Those are really good thankfuls! I think I mentioned this before, but I use to have my Charter Captain’s License so I can appreciate the scariness of docking when someone hasn’t a clue of what they are doing. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

This guy was plain scary. That vessel had a lot of horsepower and he was gunning it back and forth. Frightening. 🙂

One of my funniest (tragic-comedic) events I ever saw was when a friend took me to fish in his small boat.
We arrived at the boat ramp and were waiting for a guy backing his boat trailer into the water to pick up his very large expensive and classy in-board motor boat. He and a friend has apparently been on the water for some time judging by the beer cans and booze bottles strewn in the boat.
He backed the trailer completely underwater and the rear axles of his truck to where the tailgate was in the water.
He then directed the driver of the boat to bring the boat over. The fellow was having difficult aiming the boat at the trailer and revved the engine a couple of times to run it forward and backward. As we watched, he got the boat turned to a 90⁰ angle to the ramp, pointing straight at the seawall. Then with a lurch, he either fell over or somehow hit the throttle and jammed the boat into the seawall full throttle, crushing over a quarter of the bow almost up to the wheel!!
As it sank, Joe and I decided to eat our lunch early figuring it would be a while before they got out of the way.
I commented to Joe, that surely they had insurance. He said, “Not for tha-a-a-a-t” as we laughed so hard we couldn’t eat our sandwiches.

    • Sandee – California – Home of Awww Mondays, Happy Tuesday, and Wordless Wednesday.
      Sandee says:

Oh they are out there and many have those expensive boats. We saw one the marina next to ours that sank. All you could see was the bow of the boat in the water. He flipped it and it sunk stern first. He was showing off for everyone in the restaurant. Bless his heart. 🙂

We had a fabulous weekend and we’re looking forward to our next cruise out. It’s going to be a great boating year. 🙂

    Timmy Tomcat says:

Oh My Goodness what a nice boat. I am so green with envy. That looks like a Wellcraft. We are not sure they even still make boats but Dad had an 86 Scarab 30′ with twin 454’s. There is nothing like the sound of twin big blocks humming as you cruise along a 45-50mph passing everything on the river.
Have a wonderful safe time out on the water where all the worries and cares of life simply sink away when you pull off the dock.

    • Sandee – California – Home of Awww Mondays, Happy Tuesday, and Wordless Wednesday.
      Sandee says:

It is a nice boat, but that boat isn’t ours. We have a SeaRay Sundancer 340. It’s our condo on the water. This go fast boat belongs to someone that needs to learn how to drive it. 🙂
