Thankful Thursday

It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian of Brian’s Home. He wants us to post what we’re thankful for.

I think it’s a good thing to do each week. Focus on the positive things in our lives.

Make sure you link up to the Blog Hop at Brian’s Home and get the code to put on your blog. Then visit all the participants.

I’m thankful that we’ve decided to invest in our home. It’s been 19 years since we moved into our new home and there are things that need attention.

I’m thankful that hubby and I are finally replacing all the windows in our home. The ones they put in when the house was built were cheap and they didn’t hold up. Almost all of them have streaking where the gas has leaked out between the panes. Looks awful. We decided to go with Renewal by Andersen. They are amazing.

I’m thankful that when the windows are replaced we’ll get plantation shutters. I’ve never had them, but always wanted them. I can’t wait to see the difference.

I’m also thankful that hubby and I live in a home and not a house. Both of us have lived in a house. Not a good thing.

What are you thankful for today?

The joys of owning a home. There’s always something that needs attention 🙂 My house is 32 years old and there are lots of things that are as old as the house. Windows are on of those things. For now they’ll do though.

I know. We have lots of things that need our attention. One thing at a time. We’ll keep marching through what needs our attention. It’s fun. 🙂

I’m hoping so. I’m sure they will be. These windows are so cool. Well made and won’t streak. 🙂

And they are most easy to clean too. Our neighbor has them and I went over and took a good look. Wow, they are going to be awesome. 🙂

Wonderful! How happy i am for you that will have beautiful new windows and shutters. It will make a difference in how your house feels, i just know it. It will be more home than ever.

Hope you and Mr. Zane have a wonderful Thursday, and that the workers don’t leave too big a mess (the only down side of the work is the temporary mess).

Updating a home is always fun! Mom put up new outdoor lighting in the fall, and even that small change made a huge difference. New windows would be wonderful, and probably saves money on energy in the long run too.

It’s the doing that is so rewarding. I’m already feeling the progress and we’re just getting started. Okay the de-cluttering has helped too. Less is more is our mantra. 🙂

My house is close to being paid for and has lots of equity in it if we needed it. You brought up the fact that a house isn’t a home. True. Our home doesn’t house our children anymore, but we have many furry children to make up the difference. We have four cats, but now two kittens have been thrown our way. Let me tell you, those crazy kittens have us all on our toes.

We are debt free here. Okay we owe on the windows, but it’s a year no interest. I’ll have them paid off long before the year is up. Fur babies are wonderful family members. 🙂

    Oh, new windows!!!
Our windows have wavy glass; that’s how old they are. Many of them don’t open.
My dream is to replace them all, then re-side the house to make the new windows match the exterior.
    You must be really excited!

      Sandee says:

I’m really excited. The windows are so awful. When the measure guy came out to measure he looked at our windows and said, “I can see why you need new windows.” 🙂

Sounds wonderful and so important to live in a ‘home’ not a house ~ ^^ ~ I have decided to make a ‘home’ for the birds on my deck ~ not feeding them yet but bought a small clamp on deck birdbath and a new bird feeder ~ no replacing Zoe ~ not possible so thought I would ‘take care of’ birds ~ ^^ ~ Thanks for loving Zoe too.

    Xox to you

Yes, a home is much different than a house! Funny how a pandemic is what it takes for us to truly appreciate those things. We’ve done a lot of things here as well…but no huge overhauls this year! Enjoy your windows and shutters. I’ve always loved the look of plantation shutters. xoxox

  13. Anne Robinson says:

Wonderful words today. I would love to get new windows. My hubby worked at Pella for years but after the way they treated him with new management I would not buy their windows if they were the only windows in the world! We knew a couple from church years ago and he worked for Anderson. His wife told us she locked her keys inside her house and the doors and windows were not able to be broken into! That made me laugh and I never forgot the story. I figured if a guy who installed those windows and doors and worked for the co. could not break into his own house….they had to be good! Thanks for all you do. HUGS

      Sandee says:

For what they are costing they better be good. We loved them when we actually saw one of the windows. Puts ours to shame. More energy efficient too. Hugs. 🙂

Today, I am thankful for our little place. 🙂 I thought I lived in a home for many, many years, but maybe it was just a house. To me, it was home, and that is how I will continue to remember it, and how my kids will too. We are happy anywhere we are planted, including in our small apartment that we have now. We just love it, but as you know, I still can’t wait to own again (lease is up in March, we’ll see if we finally get to buy then, I think we’re about ready). It will be nice to be able to make noise without disturbing a neighbor, and not have to pay an outrageous monthly fee to own our cat. Also, I just saw your reply on the post on my blog and I laughed. It did enter my mind that maybe it was just another instance of a memory dump as I age. 🙂 🙂

Congrats on the renovations. I hope you love your new windows and that they are effective. I bet the plantation shutters will be very pretty!
