Our babies go wherever they want to go and that includes the kitchen counters. We rarely say no to anything they do. We love them so. Do you let your kitties or pups go where they want?

Message from Zane: We are on the back end of this problem. What is constantly in mind is the miracle of modern medicine. Not that long ago I would have simply slid into terminal kidney failure.

Surgery was a success. As a reminder I had benign prostatic hyperplasia which is a condition that affects older men. My prostate had grown to the point that I was retaining about a liter of urine, causing constant UTI and kidney failure. None I was aware of.

I have had no real pain, only mild discomfort. I want to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers and friendship.

Zane

OH, Zane, we are so thankful for your new self, and yes, modern medicine is to be lauded! These things happen, papa told me about what can happen with older men, and it’s pretty common and can be fixed! Uh…we don’t use that word around here, haha…reminds me of when I was long ago, but it was for the best. Too many kitties without homes in this world….

We’re so happy with his surgery and his wonderful progress. It’s so nice the catheter is gone. Kitties can go where they want in their home. 🙂

When I had cats they would go wherever they wanted as well. These days it’s Gibbs who can go wherever he wants but he MUST be supervised.
So glad that things went well with Zane’s surgery. It is amazing how modern medicine has advanced and what they can do these days is astounding.

It’s almost impossible to keep kitties from going and doing what they want. We just don’t bother. It’s their home, too. We are thrilled with his progress. Such a difference. 🙂

Zane, the strides medicine has taken in one of the best things about our times now. Thanks for the updates and prayers you will remain healthy and keep healing. of course we let Beau do what ever he wants, but thank goodness that he can’t get on the counters, ha ha…I did grin like an idiot looking at your sweet babies. LOVE the corner sink

Happy day, happy news ~ and paws together for your continued good recovery, and full health, Zane (happy days for you, as well, Ms Sandee). And as for the post/picture … ah yes, JUNE preps my coffee and helps with the prep of her own meals, trying to steal a bite or two ahead of time before it reaches her bowl. On the counter tops? Absolutely. Cat fur in my coffee? Always!

Modern medicine can do amazing things. Mom would have died three years ago without it. We are so glad things are working out well for you and medicine was able to fix the plumbing 😉 As for the kitties, Mom never wanted cats on the counter, but our last one was always up there and he stole food all the time. She doesn’t miss that. We dogs can go pretty much everywhere in the house. We are all family and it is our home so we should be able to do what we would like to.

    • Sandee – California – Home of Awww Mondays, Happy Tuesday, and Wordless Wednesday.

We “attempt” to keep our cats off the counters … for the most part it works … but sometimes I’ll come home from work and see things moved or paw prints …. hmmmm…. I’ve seen THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS!! ha ha

Such sweet kitties! Ours are not allowed on the counters in the kitchen, only because there are things there that could hurt them. Zane, we’re so happy to hear that good news today and yes, hooray for modern medicine. Take care of yourself!

    • Sandee – California – Home of Awww Mondays, Happy Tuesday, and Wordless Wednesday.
      Sandee says:

We’ve moved anything that can hurt them and let them go where they please. We’re always washing down the counters and putting out new kitchen towels. Zane is doing so very well. We’re most happy. 🙂

  9. Cecilia Upchurch says:

Zane thank you so very much for your health update and most of all for sharing this health issue. Many will appreciate it.

Absolutely MADI had full access to the entire house.. From the ceiling to the floor. Saturday was her 22 gotcha day. I featured one of her epic leaps from the island to the counter top.
The only being in here who ever said NO was Madi we realized we lived her at Madi’s will.
    Hugs Cecilia

For the most part Lucy has the run of the house. However she does sleep in her kennel, except during thunder storms and fireworks. Also she is not allowed to beg food and we don’t feed her anything from the table. Otherwise, the “House Princess” rules her kingdom.

    • Sandee – California – Home of Awww Mondays, Happy Tuesday, and Wordless Wednesday.
      Sandee says:

You’re smart not to feed Miss Lucy people food. It’s not really good for them. Happy Awww Monday and week, my friend. 🙂

    Xena and Lucy says:

Zane, thank you for the great update. So happy this could be resolved or contained before it, well, you know. As for as our pups, yes, they have limits. Not allowed on the kitchen counter (Chia does anyhow) both to keep them out of our food (which now never goes there because of Chia) and Angel Lexi hurt herself jumping off there when she was caught sniffing apples. Same thing with eating tables, but Chia and now Xena get up there anyhow. sigh The only restriction I had on the cats when I had cats (husband allergic to them) was not on the stove for safety reasons.

    • Sandee – California – Home of Awww Mondays, Happy Tuesday, and Wordless Wednesday.
      Sandee says:

We’re thrilled with his progress. Modern medicine is wonderful. Chia does what she wants. I’m not surprised. You made me smile. 🙂

Wonderful news for a successful surgery. 🙂

Yes when we had cats and dogs they were allowed everywhere. we just had to make sure there weren’t cords to chew, or flowers to eat, or hot stoves to get onto, and any other dangers around. Just like babies! 🙂

I’m glad things are looking up for Zane! I have heard UTIs can cause so many problems that mimic other medical conditions, so it’s good that those will be going away too! We let our cat go wherever she wants. When my kids’ aunt comes to visit she hates it and will shoo her off of the furniture. She gets perturbed that I let her get on the couches. Craziness, right???
