Expensive Burger
Serendipity 3, New York
Price: $295

What Makes It So Expensive: Le Burger Extravagant is made with white truffle butter-infused Japanese Wagyu beef, topped with James Montgomery cheddar cheese, black truffles and a fried quail egg. It’s served on a gold-dusted roll spread with white truffle butter and topped with a blini, crème fraiche and caviar. If that weren’t enough to excuse the price, it also comes with a solid-gold, diamond-encrusted toothpick.

I am not a big burger fan but do have them now and again. That one does look tasty, but I can think of a lot better ways to spend my money.

    • Sandee says:

That’s what usually happens when I show up at your place. I love your foodie posts and it’s usually before I’ve had breakfast that I visit. 🙂

  2. Ann Thompson says:

I do hope that none of these rich people ordering this burger don’t choke on the diamond encrusted toothpick. Even if I could, I would never pay that kind of money for a burger no matter how fancy it is.

  3. Princess Leah says:

Oh dear, I finks I might have DROOLED over the keyboard…oophs!

    Sandee,

I’ve heard of these overpriced Japanese burgers. I like a good hamburger but I seriously doubt these expensive ones are any better than a good regular beef burger. In fact, I’m like 99.9999% sure an American all-beef burger will trump a wagyu burger every single time according to my taste buds anyhow. That’s my opinion anyhow and I’m sticking with it. 🙂 I will say this burger does have a nice yummy look but then looks can be deceiving. 😉 Thanks for hosting the mid-week fun, my dear. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

    • Sandee says:

I’m sure you’re right. I don’t think this burger would be all that good. I sure don’t want that price tag for a burger. You have a wonderful Wednesday too, Cathy. 🙂

  5. meowmeowmans says:

That burger does look tasty, but I can’t imagine spending that much money. I’d rather just go to In-n-Out, or make myself a burger at home. 🙂

    Happy Wednesday, Sandee!

    • Sandee says:

Of all the burgers at a burger place the double-double at In-N-Out is my favorite. Haven’t had one in a very long time though. We do our own at home and they don’t have all the grease. 🙂

  6. My GBGV Life says:

We are going to pass on the burger. My mom wouldn’t like it, but we know lots of people love fancy burgers like that. Bailie and I just want the meat part. Happy WW.

  7. Jeanne Foguth says:

It looks nice, but I wager my hubby can grill something just as delicious…. and for a whole lot less.

    • Sandee says:

How in the world can someone afford that. You’re right though it’s huge. You have a great day too, Marg. 🙂

  8. darlamsands says:

As you may know, quail eggs aren’t really expensive, just ubiquitous to Japanese cuisine. They are a taste treat raw over flying fish roe sushi, though I feel rather unwilling after seeing a mother hen and chicks at the zoo. ~grin~ And this looks like too much of a good thing. Heh… I would like to try truffles with some nice cheese on a burger, though not wagyu beef. We once ate wagyu steaks in Cleveland at a B&B. Too rich for my tastes, let alone the bank. lol Be well!

    • Sandee says:

I’ve never had that beef and I never will. I do just fine with the burgers we make here now and then. Very cheap too. Be well too, Darla. 🙂

  9. 15andmeowing says:

Yikes! I prefer to spend money on my cats’ health 🙂 Thanks for hosting. Have a wonderful day. XO

      • MNL says:

Yeah, I can. Besides if I were to spend $300 on a meal (can’t imagine I ever would), I’d at least like a steak and dessert, oh and something to drink would be nice.

        • Sandee says:

I would never buy this either. I just find in amazing that some people wouldn’t even blink at this price. 🙂

  10. Jan says:

I have never eaten a truffle, I am afraid I would like them and have to take out a second mortgage.

    Did this comment go through?

    • Sandee says:

Me either. We fix our occasional burgers here at home. They are pretty cheap. Yes, this comment went through. WordPress has been a bit slow lately. 🙂

  11. My Golden Life says:

NO! Just No! I wouldn’t care if the toothpick were made with platinum and the Hope diamond…there’s no way I’d pay $295 for it. Must be nice to have that much money to burn a hole in one’s pocket!

    • Sandee says:

It does look good and I’d love to taste it, but I don’t want to buy it. Happy Wordless Wednesday to you and Ms. Zoe. 🙂

  12. DrillerAA says:

I’m sorry but there is NO burger worth $295! You can get an amazing burger from Bobby Flay’s in Vegas for under $25 and there is a burger place locally that make a great double-patty burger for $6.95. A $295 Burger…nope,..I ain’t doin’ it!!!

    • Sandee says:

I’d do that burger from Bobby Flay’s, but not a burger for 295. They haven’t even added the tax and tip yet. 🙂

  13. Debbie D. says:

Looks good, but even if I were rich, I wouldn’t spend that kind of money on a hamburger. Especially since so many people don’t have enough food to eat. Talk about “conspicuous consumption” – literally! Happy Wednesday. 🙂 Thank you for the link up. What time does your post usually go live? I always seem to get here late (after having checked earlier).

    • Sandee says:

I wouldn’t either, but I love to see what people will pay for things. I live on the west coast and I go live at 12:10am pacific time. 🙂

  14. Kathe W. says:

oh silly silly rich folks with no brains! I would rather buy a whole bunch of Burgers at Giant Burger in Lake Oswego and
share them with a lot of family and friends….good grief….Now Sandee you and Zane have a great day and a tasty burger too! xoxo K R and Lucy

  15. Anne Robinson says:

Wow! That is way too expensive for my taste! Late but I am here. ALways grateful to be part of this. THank you and have a lovely end to your week. They fly by quickly. HUGS and LOVE

  16. kittiesblue says:

Thanks for linking us up. Cooper Murphy knows how much you enjoy seeing him. He is a big boy, but it was a long camera lens that made him look REALLY big. He asked me to send you a kitty kiss and head bonk. Hugs, Janet

    • Sandee says:

I’m sure it’s very good, but I’ll have a burger that hubby grills. Much cheaper and fits my lifestyle. 🙂

  17. Rhonda Albom says:

I think I might like the burger. Can I have it my way. Adios the caviar, lose some of the truffle, and I never got used to an egg on my burgers here in New Zealand so take it off. I don’t think I can digest the gold so skip that and with all that much less on the burger, I don’t think I’ll need the toothpick to hold it all together.

    • Sandee says:

You can have it your way. I’d want to take some of the things off too. It’s too expensive for my blood. 🙂
